2K Sports will be live streaming a full game of NBA 2K13 on Wednesday, September 19th at 5:00 PM EST. Check out the Oklahoma City Thunder (controlled by Ronnie2K) against the Miami Heat (controlled by LD2K). Here is the link to the live stream.
As I'm watching this for the third time today I'm just noticing more stuff, wow that cross-over that Dwade put on harden at around 2:10 in the 4th quarter was crazy good.
Loved the amount of fouls being called. If the foul settings were on default it's gonna be a good year!
Hopefully there are sliders to up the # of off the ball fouls as well. When we talk about all the little things in the game, I would like to see fouls like these happen every once in a while
I know right? From what I can see, Kevin Durant's mole on his right ear is missing too. The level of realism in this game can be sooooo much better. :banghead:
I'm even more serious
I expected such meaningless comments. Just tells me there are plenty of people out there having no clue what authenticity and realism really means. Getting the basic stuff correctly is something that should be taken for granted. If you don't see that, it's not my problem. And don't start to argue "it's only a video game!"

Really? Even though 2 out the 3 were definitely valid calls, with the one on LeBron being debatable, off-ball calls are made so randomly in the NBA that they reek of refs manipulating the game.
Moving screens like Garnett's should of course be called, but on any given play there is probably at least one that isn't, and then most of the calls made are rewarding floppers on legit, well set screens. Same goes for players fighting for position, they almost always call the 2nd or 3rd foul, it's completely selective. Charging calls aren't much better, maybe 1 in 3 is a good call, even many that you could argue are technically correct are partial flops or just too soft to have any place in basketball.
In NBA2k it'd feel like the game was straight-up cheating. It already feels like the CPU already gets way softer calls than the player.
What I would love to see is an occasional replay of a foul or out of bounds call on key plays, with the commentary discussing the call or the refs reviewing who should have possession, especially since there are already animations with players asking for calls or disagreeing with them. I've had times where I stripped a player going to the basket and thought the ball went off their leg, but they retained possession. I'd love to have the refs seem somewhat fallible, but not to the point of real NBA refs.
Early NBA live games had very similar contact animations from like NBA live 2004 all the way to 07 (don't know about after because I stopped buying NBA live after 07)...I remember one of the old gen systems NBA live had the perimetetlr/midrange "ride" contact animations on ball handlers...it looked pretty similar to the new ones in 2k13.
As far as play calling..NBA live 10 had great play calling.
The game looks very solid and a big improvement over 2k12 in my view. In general I am pretty happy with the gameplay showed, but to nick pick a little bit, I don’t like the over the shoulders lob passes (neither the quantity nor the quality) that’s probably the only thing that makes me remember I am watching a video game and not real NBA game footage. The other thing I don’t like is the (too high) shooting percentages, but I guess that is easy to correct if we up the difficulty and tweak the sliders accordingly…
Things I will be checking in the demo (because I suspect we could find exploits there):
- Run and Gun (It seems it will be again a cheaper way to find good looks and abuse stars without the need of playing good fundamental basketball).
- Bounce Passes (Considering what I have seen so far, they seems to be too effective and difficult to counter, can they be defended properly?).
- Up and Unders (last year this was way too effective either, and the worst thing, it could be performed efficiently by anyone whether they had post proficiency or not, in this video the defender beat to the fakes most of the time, but anyway, I didn’t see yet anything clearly suggesting they are more balanced now).
Cheers! ;-)
Just remember that the defenders biting in the fakes were USER.
How would you counter a bounce pass. It seemed that bad ones were able to be knocked away.
Run and gun: speed matter. Plus, it was user vs user.

Pretty sure when LD2K said realism he wasn't talking about correct sock color, but the actual playing of the game. Your definition of realism is covering the whole thing. Its important to get those things right for authenticity's sake, but I'd play a basketball game with featureless dolls if it resembled the real thing in how the game was played.
One issue that I sort of have an issue with is the 4th quarter sig skill. It appeared to be a little too over powered, although its possible it was just human error in shot release. I understand that those guys will hit shots near the end of close game but it seemed like no one else could hit anything....maybe Im just crazy lol

So you (or the other dude) think 2k was thinking Live when the mocapped these animations? Animations they've had for years?

What ya mean dude? Face is one of the important feature of a person and every detail brings level of realism to the next level! FIFA has face scanning technology for this exact reason. You say socks and I say mole... You don't have to disrespect my wants just because someone here might laugh at your demands for accurate sock colour. Again I want accurate moles!!!

You still don't get the point? Why can't we have both? It's not that hard! I just have to watch one game in order to suck up all the details that would increase the level of authenticity. 2K could do this too, but why do they keep doing things wrong each and every year? They don't even integrate the respective patches of the year before in order to get accessories correct. What about the Bulls? Third year in a row they will launch a game with the Bulls having black socks/shoes at home even though they've always uploaded patches to fix the problem and get it right. I don't find that conclusive at all!

I thought you were trying to fool me. Still don't know if you're serious about that or not.

Come on man. Teams and players change things up every year. Something is going to be wrong somewhere for one reason or another. You have a point. No doubt. Just don't turn it into WW3.

Whether or not it's a good call isn't relevant. It's part of the game. If you play aggressively or overcommit, whether on ball or off ball, fouls are going to be called. Like I said before, I just want to see this occasionally. I don't want it to be a something teams make their living off of.

People complain when their AI teammates get calls like that. I agree with you, but that's how it goes...
This **** looks incredible. So many new animations, especially on drives to the basket. I'm LOVING the way the dribbling looks, and also it's great to see all the player movement away from the ball. I'm sure these two dudes are above average at playing the game, but a lot of the plays ran really smoothly and the scores were actually pretty realistic. That "Dunk Intensity Meter" thing could be super cool as well, really nice touch there. CAN'T EFFING WAIT!!!
Very excited about the game as well; I threw up about 20ish pictures of it and made a video about it on our channel. THe surprise at the end was nice with letting the guys from Team Up speak on it themselves. Also, Ronnie had one hell of a comeback once he started hitting the boards and getting out on the break (just like the real Thunder do!). It's crazy that LD2k had those couple of missed dunks too. Fear the beard!

You're the one not getting it. This whole thing started when you went on this tract when LD2K complimenting the realism while playing the game itself and you started in on socks colors being wrong as if that was in anyway related to the realism he was referring to.
The rest was my own spiel cuz its early and I'm weird before caffeine enters my system. No one says you can't have both. I was attempting to explain what I guessed LD meant. Does that even make sense? Gah. Where's that damn coffee at?
