The driving animations and contact in the paint and on drives is awesome! LeBron feels like LeBron now. He can outmuscle a Kevin Durant in different situations as well it should be, but it was balanced where Durant could still body up and stay with him if played correctly. I would see Durant getting knocked back at times, but not the other way around when facing each other. When LeBron would attack the rim you could feel his strength in getting to the hole. I saw some great animations with fouls that still ended up with players getting shots up. This was balanced well to as I did not see many, if any of them go in. You felt like LBJ when playing with him. There are also some great triple threat animations and bumping on the perimeter game between defender and ball handler before a dribble has been used. It is another risk/reward situation for a defender playing to close depending on skill and quickness of the player he is guarding.

Hey Vann a lot of people are complaining in other threads...based on Gamescon video they're not seeing enought contact in the paint...did you experience that too?
Scoring in 2 the paint should be hard..did you have this feeling?
Thx

I did not experience this. Remember it was on pro and in the retail game the contact in paint and drive sliders can be adjusted as well, but it was a perfect blend of contact IMO. A matter of fact a few times I thought I had open lanes with Westbrook for a dunk or lay in but it ended up with me getting fouled and I was like wtf. Lol! This area along with the bumping on ball are probably 2 of my favorite things about this game and extremely well implemented IMO. Especially the and 1 play animations.

Thanks man! Did you put a video out yet? I saw smallz, Carter's, and shakes. Where is yours? I felt like you and me were on the same page with a lot of gameplay ideas! And for the record I hope you get your crew in! Lol!

So Vann did they address this issue?

I couldn't tell you. Maybe some of the videos from games on can answer that?

Vannwolfhawk, in all the gamescom videos I'm seeing this sliding/ice skating animation happen everytime when 2 players collide, sometimes with the ball, but mostly without the ball.

For example, in one of the videos, Bosh is fighting for position in the post and the defender "pushes" him out of position many times, causing this animation where Bosh "ice skates" away from the defender and with his body kind of frozen.

I know this could be due to the build of the demo, but could you please let the guys at 2K know about this. Thanks.

Hello Wolf and thank you for your insight.

However I have some additional questions:

1.) How is returning in defense (when losing the ball or after basket) implemented this year? In 2k12 there were many fast-breaks due to slow returning from offence. In fact you could see your teammates slowly jogging back to defense when opposite players were sprinting in offence?

2.) What about "automatic" (auto) response from your controlled defender when opposite player makes pump fake (in 2k12 your player often automatically lifts arms -> out of position)? Smoove said that he noticed some auto-response from his guy when CPU makes step-back.

3.) What about sucking animation in defense? For example when CPU plays PNR your player often goes into slow animation "go over/under the screen" and leaves you out-of-position? Same applies when your player hits teammate and goes into slow animation... Is this addressed?

4.) What about auto-changed movement when opponent tries to double team your play-maker? For example opposite team plays Half Court Trap... and even your play-maker isn't trapped (for example your play-maker is on right side of court, second defender is still on left side of court and coming to trap you) it goes into "protect ball" mode -> thus make his self uncontrollable. Online cheesers are exploiting this behaviour when they set "always double" the whole opposite team.

5.) Steal spam? How is this addressed? Did they make long recovery time for unsuccessful steal attempt?

6.) What about jumping on pump-fake and then super recovering from?

7.) How they addressed PNR? I think in 2k12 it was a little broken (not all PNR plays but most of them), did the improve it? What about defending PNR? Did they address lead-pass cheese as it was in 2k11?

Thank you for answers.

I'm sure it's the build and probably and most likely has been addressed. They did a great job with implementing better foot planting and less skating! That being said its never going to be 100% perfect.

Let me say this, after we spoke with all the devs they stayed in the room and watched us play. 1 time I had the ball and my team got a offensive 3 seconds call and I was like wtf I had 5 guys on 1 side of the floor. Rob jones immediately noticed this and asked me about it and wanted to make sure that got fixed and why it happened. Same things I would assume with other guys like smoove said in his video about getting stuck while never even moving. The devs are just as anal as we are! Lol! So, there is a good chance this has already been fixed?!

Apologies men I was going off something I heard last year I swear they told me if you hold A you get faster passes I guess I mis heard but I've been doing it placebo style all year I guess.

TBH I wasn't implying that a tap meant lob however just the faster passes part. Again I would've sworn we had that conversation.

Thanks! Sounds pretty good to me

I'm really liking how this team up is working so far. Thanks again Vann!

How do you think the game will handle bigs that are actually quick/fast like the rockets center omer asik? he can actually guard quicker guards on the perimeter better than most bigs. Rockets rookie Donatas Motiejunas will also be the fastest center in the league. He runs the speed of many small fowards at 7ft tall.
The bounce passes are 50/50 and were tuned perfectly IMO. The defense can steal them if timed right and if the pass was not timed right as well. The alley oops I was told had already been fixed from our build as yes the success rate was to high for not only my liking but chris and Ronnie felt the same way and told the devs before we did. That being said I did complain about seeing 3 reverse out of bound alley oops that need to be dealt with on 2 seperate areas. 1 being you never see a reverse dunk on a out of bounds alley, and 2 the success rate needs to be lowered.

That all depends on the 2k insiders ratings. They did a great job with speed this year in spreading it out!

Vann, Did you notice if they sped up the triple threat animations like jab steps, etc? They weren't very fast in 2k12...

It seemed the same to me. You bring up a great point though! My pet peave is the lack of explosion on the 1st step out of a jab step and its partially due to there is a split second delay there. I teach my kids to explode on their 1st steps and on all drives and especially 1 dribble pull ups as you need to create that space from a defender. I think this has to do with player animation is standing to erect when he should be down lower and jabbing harder. Good point though ninja! I would like to see this sped up and fixed too, but if they do fix this with offense they need to do the same with defense so it can be countered as well IMO.

Hey Vannwolf, got another question I'm hoping you can answer.

Having watched several of the gameplay videos out there it seems to me that everyone dribbles the ball quite similarly with the exception of the speed of the handle. When you played the game did you notice dribbling styles looking varied? I saw vids with guys like Battier doing crossovers that you'd expect a point guard to do. I also noticed Sefolosha doing some things that looked inconsistent with how he dribbles. Do we still have dribble packages in the game?

Van. IS the game better than 12 & even 11?

I second this question. Eliminating dribble packages would be a major step in the wrong direction
