just played the giants vs niners games and i got to give to ea this year bravo, the new engine is on point patrick willis intercepted me and the way he got tackled was a lineman tripped and eli manning finished it off looked incredibly real only problem for me is equipment ex-hynoski wears a robot rb dna facemasks and chris canty facemasks isnt in there also i wish they would do something with the chinstraps for instance aaron rodgers chinstrap is just one buckle ad then you have players who have 3 buckles with the top buckle bolted in but besides that im impressed

I saw Ahmad Bradshaw get pulled down from behind, like a horse collar! Never seen anything like that. Awesome.

This is the game I have been waiting for.

This is easily the best digital football game I've ever played. It's unbelievable how much better this game is compared to NCAA Football 13, and also how many improvements the Madden team made to this game in just 1 year.

Gameplay is really fun, the game is absolutely beautiful, and the commentary is very well done. I'm loving the new Infinity engine. I'm pumped to play the retail version when it arrives later this month!

Played about 5 or 6 games without accl clock so I have a pretty good feel of the game. I'm a gameplay guy so presentation isn't something I care to comment on. 90% of my Madden games are played while listening to music.

Pros:
The deep ball is back.
Running up the gut can be worthwhile.
Maximum passing is much better.
Play action works and works well.
Game speed is back to normal.
Kicking game is actually difficult.

Cons:
Dline/Oline play is really poor.
Infinity Engine is extremely glitchy and honestly an eye sore.
No more wrap tackles, I'm seeing far too many bumper car animations.
Dropped passes, too many that should easily be catches.
Zig Zag running and cutting on a dime still a major issue.
Run blocking in general is very poor, really shows on toss plays.

Overall I give the demo a C+, I think 14 will be the year that I finally come back. Too many fundamental issues in 13 still, and the IE in it's current state is broken.

its true, I read the comment, then the next play eli burned me up the left side for a 70 yarder to cruz. no way my cb could catch him.

Interesting to see the huge difference of opinion when it comes to the Infinity engine.

To me, the game is a little too fast. I turned it to slow and it seems a bit better.

I did see one glaring gameplay problem. On two occasions in the same game, a pass was clearly incomplete - the receiver barely got his hands on it but then it popped loose but was called a fumble. It happened once to me and once to the computer. At first, I was excited because the CPU challenged and I thought that an incomplete pass could be called a fumble or vice-versa. Nope, upheld. Same thing when I challenged mine. It was clear that there was no catch, it was one of those you've seen in the last several years of Madden where you curse your receiver for not hanging on.

Pretty good.

Something seems like it's not quite smooth enough tho. Maybe it's just the demo and the retail will be smoother

Some more quick impressions.

I said it before that they need to turn down the big hits, and also the sounds the plays when it happens.

On All-Madden, the CPU pass rush is deadly and on top of that my WR are not getting open. I really think its the skill level because the Seahawks WR can get open and they are not that much better, if not better at all then the Redskins WR. Once again its a fine line EA walks with this because I want it to be realistic but at the same time I dont want it to be impossible to get a pass off.

In the future, I hope EA gives us the options to have a Real Time or broadcast presentation like MLB The Show does. After the whistle is blown, you can still see the new engine in work but only in real time. Players will get off piles realistically, but when they show players getting up in a cutscene, it does not look very good. Players once again move as if they are programmed (if that makes any sense). Although the engine still produces funky movements after the play it still is a thing of beauty when it works.

Once the honeymoon phase wears off, people will start to notice that every tackle plays out the same exact way 75% of the time. With two people simply running into each other like bumper cars. I would like to see more fundamental tackles. Not just head on collisions.

It looks better when played on very slow with threshold at 2(personal preferance) Also, any issues I have with it is mainly after the tackle when players just mysteriously fall down from a small bump.

Goofy moments with new engine, but all-in-all, better than expected. I'm satisfied for now.

Just played my first demo as the Redskins and I must say I think this Madden plays SO much more better than last years. The physics works well although sometimes if I barely bump my O-line as a RB he will fall down.

My main problem is the lighting. I am using a very good HDTV on PS3 which has no problems in any of my other games but the players shadows are too dark. When the camera drops back on a pass it is really hard for me to tell who is offense/defense down field. No problem when running really just passing because the camera is zooming out.

Is anyone else having this problem?

And some more...

I think HB screen passes will be too deadly.
Comeback routes are way too easy.
Slants as well.
Couldn't tell a big difference in between qbs. Will try the backups and see how they fare.

Ball physics are much improved.
I liked the defensive pressure. I think Dwight Freeney will be a beast as they have a pretty good spin move. There seems to be a lot more variety oline and d line interactions.
I also like that players recover with a sense of urgency.

Infinity engine really helps to relay football as a violent sport.

Unfortunately I've never found this to be the case. With the game being released on the 28th, what you see in the demo is what you're going to get. Surely the game is being pressed, printed, etc. There's not really any time to tweak anything at this point.

Been reading the comments and are you guys nuts. This demo is horrible. It plays pretty much like god awful 11 and 12. No halftime show or postgame. Pregame is only real presentation, but with god awful sims and nantz. Tackling and physics is better but sometimes you fall by yourself for now reason other than being touched by a player. Player graphics are bad and graphical pop ins keep occurring and textures take too long to load. Grass and other details on the field and stadium are ok. Crowd looks partially 3d at least and not flat.

2 big issues for me:

1. players morph into the endzone barrier and go into the stands too often.
2. you can literally use the same lame money plays and drive down the field. Flanker drive, mesh, drags, over the middle plays. These plays are money 90% of the time.

This game keeps disappointing year after year.

See you guys going to play a real game nfl 2k5.

RB

So the last FIFA demo was the same as retail? I'm sorry but I am sick and tired of reading this what you see is what you get garbage. The devs and game changers have all mentioned specific things that are being added post demo. You have no idea when this demo was even finalized. You don't like it fine, but stop with the absolutes that you have no idea are true or not.

And to expand on some of the crazy things I see with the engine, I hope EA can use this to their advantage. For example, I am seeing legs getting bent backwards and in directions they should not be going. Everytime I see it I kind of make scrunch my face up thinking about how bad that would be if it was a real person's limb being bent like that. Well what if EA can tie injuries into that.

This no doubt in my mind will be an awesome game to me. Tweak the engine, cut out the zig-zag running, and apply more football fundamentals
