NBA 2K13 News Post

I knew there would be a lot of questions/concerns regarding today's announcements, especially regarding the Control Stick, so I just wanted to give a few more details.

The Shot button is still there and more fully featured than in past versions. So if you choose, you can use the Right Stick for dribble moves and do all your shots with the face buttons. A lot of guys in the office prefer to play this way. In case you missed it, B (CIRCLE) is a Hop Step button again.

There's an option to toggle the default behavior of the Control Stick. So you can make the Right Stick Shot Stick by default, and then hold LT (L2) to activate Isomotion.

You can perform basic dribble moves with the Left Stick as well. Of course, you won't have near the same level of control as you would with the Right Stick, but it's a pretty complete arsenal of moves... including sizeups (tap the Left Stick side to side.)

Bottom line, we're giving you the ability to play the way you want to play 2K13. If you adopt the Control Stick fully, you'll have more control over your player than any basketball has ever given in the past... hands down. But if you want a more casual pick up and play experience, we accommodate that as well. Hope that answers some questions.

No fake pass button?

As long as we have the same arsenal of moves as last year I think everyone will love it. The question is about the shots that were triggered by holding down the LT, like the eurostep...will we still be able to pull off those moves?

I have a feeling this might feel like a more natural setup for me personally. I love the options you guys are providing.

The only thing it really did was have the defender play tighter on you.

So how does shots in the post work? with the modifier we have to hold down LT at all times to initiate post shots and fakes?

Read the previews people, fake passing is still there and you can cancel a pass.

Yes. The Shot Stick is more gesture based now. Throw the stick left to right for a left to right Euro, Double tap the Stick to the left to hop step to the left, etc.

I for one will be using the control stick and I'm a shot stick only user! I can easily get used to it and it won't take that long to get used to.

thanks Mike for chiming in and letting people know that the option is there if they don't like it.

So, just to clarify, will LT/L2 be somewhat a modifier? If holding LT/L2, will moving the right stick allow us to pull moves as opposed to shooting?

Also, will we still have the ability to do different layups/shots since LT/L2 was the modifier in 2K12?

Thanks for the added info , shows you guys care over there at 2K sports.

I find it very cool to see all the control options provided. This is going to be ever-so-slightly off topic, but I kind of hope the Dunk Contest has some alternate control options as well, if it truly is a Guitar Hero setup.

Thanks for the info, Beluba. I have a feeling I'll be using the shot stick occasionally, but for fast breaks and quick catch-and-shoot layups/dunks i'll probably rely on the button...for me it seems like the button will be better for quicker shots since fewer fingers are involved and there's less room for error...like when you need to quickly catch and dunk or something like that.

Pretty much nails it on the head

Great call 2K, the more options you give us to set it up how we like, the more people are able to find a scheme that works for them.

Can't wait for even more details on the dribbling. There was a lot of depth in the past versions but they were too hard to pull off.

Have they said anything about "crew"??

# 20 civerson28 @ 08/10/12 02:32 PM
anything that gives you more control of dribbling is positive thanks for clearing this up. As long as we have defense to counter the moves im happy
