Adding the stances is genius. Defenders (particular PG's) are always trying to veer you in a direction where they know help defense is waiting.

R-stick for dribbling
Shading on defense

Two of my biggest gripes with the series seem to have been addressed!

According to Jones, "there's about a 30-degree difference" between the direction in which most players thought they aimed and the truth. But thanks to those improvements, plus a new control option for user-initiated bounce passes (holding the left trigger and pressing the pass button), NBA 2K13 will let players better direct the flow of the game through passing.

Welcome back, bounce passing, welcome back.

According to this article you can still have the shotstick exclusively by going through the options menu...

While previous installments have also allowed for players to shoot using the right thumbstick, 2K13 now utilizes the joystick for dribbling, allowing for more fluid, complex moves to be pulled off while driving to the basket. Should players wish to continue to use the thumbstick, a simple pull of the left trigger button or change in settings will allow them to do so.

Heard the word "physics" excited about that!

It does look so much more smoother and a whole lot less "suction" involved in the interaction between dribbler and defender(which was my biggest pet peeve with video game hoops).

Also wouldn't be hurt if the killed off shot stick for more intuitive dribbling. Never use the shot stick anyways and kind of always felt it was a waste to have multi ways to perform the same function.

I just hope it's not just with collisions but everywhere. Lot of areas where momentum needs to be fixed.

Read the previews - the shot stick is not gone. You just have to press left trigger with it.

The interaction between the ballhandler and the on-ball defender looked fantastic. So much more fluid from the brief clip they showed.

I don't understand why they never fix the Pacers' side panels. They are always waaaaaaaaaaay too wide and look so distorted when players move.

...other than that, game looks great.

Game looks great!

It was just funny to see Danny Granger sliding as Mike Wang says they're trying to get foot planting right.

Uh, that's what real-time physics is for. Should help with the post game, taking charges and shooting fouls. All of these improvements sound be very, very exciting!!!!

I'm freakin losing my mind over here. ANALOG DRIBBLING!!! THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU, THANK-YOU MIKE!!! RTP is going to be interesting, tho. I remember how in one of the previous games, it was almost impossible to even move without getting bumped all over the place and it had to be toned down. Hopefully, RTP will be greatness. Like how shading is back. Good stuff with D, too.

I am so excited for this now. In just the first dev insight we have seen a lot and i'm glad its gameplay based...

that being said, there is one thing i hope doesn't happen: We saw a lot of the defenders biting hard on dribble moves and lunging completely the wrong way... I hope that this doesn't happen super frequently; it happens in real basketball but they don't go completely out of the play. A lot of times it's like a half lunge and then they recover. We will see

Doing what NBa Elite was trying to do but improving what they did not do right. Hopefully this is not just a one year change.

The article said it will have effect in Rebounding, Chargers, Blocking calls, and something else.

So let me get this right. The left trigger allows you to use the shot stick. Releasing or not using the left trigger allows for the right stick to be utilized for dribbling purposes.

So in essence you could right stick your way to shaking a player and then pull the left trigger to engage the shot.

Am I getting this right?

Okay, THIS is exciting. The dribble system looks cray....
