NCAA Football 13 News Post

The release of NCAA Football 13 is only a few short weeks away. But what do we know about the game so far? The demo is out, so the short answer is “a lot.” But there are a number of things that remain uncertain that will affect whether NCAA Football 13 goes down as the best NCAA game of this console generation or as another disappointment.

Most of them are dynamic (more than in '12) but not all of them (I think it's only 1 or 2 that aren't).

Huge letdown that you can't import NCAA 13 Draft Classes to Madden 13. I was excited about the ESPN Ticker and In-game reports. I don't understand why the developers take good functionality like draft class import away. That is a huge deal to me.

With this year and probably next year being more then likely the last two years of this Generation gaming, I'd be surprised if NCAA changed their Dynasty mode completely next year. It'd just be silly. Next year, I can see them sticking to Gameplay, small improvements too Dynasty (Medical Redshirts type of thing) and some improvements too Heisman mode (unfortunately). Which is fine in my eyes, as Dynasty improvements and Gameplay improvements is what I am hoping for. But I don't see the need for overhaul when they're probably building NCAA 15 on the new Gen systems soon/if not now.

Where would I find those? Need to know for my teambuilder team.

For the first time in a long time, with NCAA only less than two weeks away, I can truly say I am not at all hyped or excited about this game. SMH...

I had no idea draft class importing wasn't going to be in this years game. So no create a school, custom player names, uniforms, etc then bring those guys into Madden?

Is this true?

If it's true, i will immediately cancel both my pre orders, seriously. The game has never been a favorite of mine, i really loved creating a school and players and played a season or two then simmed 5 and used the draft classes for Madden. Wow, i am in shock still. Count me as done with NCAA.

i honestly dont think its NCAA's fault for that, i think its Madden since they have a new thing called Connected Careers

They want a history for their drafted players, they really want the REAL players over the next 3-4 years in Madden but down the line a few 'fake' names pop in and that's fine cause by then they are deeply hooked into it.

I hope they do an overhaul on NCAA and do the connected careers(?) like Madden. If it is indeed reminiscent of NFL Head Coach '09 and how they did their 'scripted' drafts, wow! It would be outstanding to be able to see a 15yo kid popup on the radar, a 6'3 190lb WR and then follow him, invite him to your summer camps and watch him turn into a 6'6 220lb SR in HS who THEN decides to commit to go to Mizzou! WHAT?

Passion and depth in recruiting and whatnot would go through the roof with a system like that.
The problem with Connected Careers in NCAA is that it would likely be the end of editable rosters, the way it is with Madden (and why they don't allow the importing of draft classes). That might be the end of NCAA for me.

Not allowing the draft class importing is why I cancelled my Madden preorder, but isn't changing my view of NCAA.

From the demo, the game plays so much better than last year's game. The passing game has really improved especially routes that were basically a death trap in previous iterations are now options. Also, the ability for the receivers to go up and get the ball with the new catch animations is a huge improvement.

From my time with the game, also knowing that the default game mode is one of the easiest, I have not experienced psychic DB's and it is one element that I am excited about because attributes will mean more especially for DBs.

As far as importing draft classes, I won't miss it but hate the fact that it isn't an option.

Overall, I am excited about NCAA 13's release.

There is a solid screen shot on this site with an LSU player who appears to be pretty dirty. And he is in his white uniform.

I'll buy NCAA, but won't be buying Madden because of the lack of importing draft. I was already on the fence about Madden this year, and this just sealed it.

Great, now you can't even use NCAA to update your rosters so you have to buy Madden every year!!! Go ahead people, keep giving your money to EA

Good write up Chris. That's one reason I didn't like early demo. Just hope that wasn't the final build and the game will be more polished upon release.

This is a very good point - and I find myself being that consumer right now. It's not an automatic first day buy as it used to be.

I am so heartbroken. The only reason I buy NCAA is to import players over to madden and I just found out that's not possible. I've been chomping at the bits waiting for it to be released. Just to be crushed. NCAA 13 is garbage. Who cares about the heisman challenge. It's a waste of space on the game. Guess I'll just have to figure out how to pass time until the new madden is released. Damn you NCAA! Your suppose to be moving forward. Not backwards. You fell off the chain.

Pass. The only reason I get NCAA is to import draft classes.

Wow really? Working hard to keep that featured communities aren't ya OS? You're not sure anybody will miss it? I'm guessing by that statement, you haven't been reading the responses on your own site, or pasta's, or EA's or youtube. Importing classes is HUGE and will be sorely missed by a ton of people.

In fact there a decent number of people who won't buy either now, me included. I know EA doesn't care about how important it was to fans, but you don't have to just co-sign any talking point they put out just to keep your featured community status. C'mon Son!!!!!
Agree. This feature added so much depth. From what I heard the reason why it was removed this year is because Madden now has the physics engine while NCAA doesn't so there was a compatibility issue. I heard they will try to add it next year, which means only one thing... We can hope that NCAA 14 will have physics.

I would also hope for NCAA...and eventually HOPE they do this in Madden...is to give the user a chance to have a traditional career(the way its been prior) path OR use the new Connected Career Mode.

If enough folks scream about it AND don't drop the money on Madden, I bet they will at least give the user an option. Or at least you hope(I use that word a lot when talking about EA) they would.

I can't imagine NCAA 14 not getting the new physics engine next year and if compatability was the issue then it will be back.

I'd still love to know how the crowd sounds came out....hopefully they are not as bad as they are on the demo (that is, setting the crowd at 100 will "fix" it).
