Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

That's what we're basing our facts off of, though. People played it at E3, there's podcasts up with even more information. We know what's there and what isn't for the most part.

I'm not turned away as long as the NFL numbering rules are strictly enforced in the event of a conflict between two players and one has to be reassigned. That said, I'd much rather have control over the numbering assignments myself and will readily admit that I am disappointed by the lack of this feature which is base-line expected functionality in simulation sports titles.

Completely turned off...not buying the game. We pushed and pushed for complete editing that they FINALLY put in last year and they knew how important it was for us. That was a huge announcement for them that we could finally edit freely throughout franchise. Now they TAKE IT OUT. Complete BS. I will just play Madden12 with updated rosters and deal with the old engine.

Unfortunately I'm turned away. I love editing things and minor details. What really turned me away is I fall under the crowd who plays franchise with friends in one room. One of our favorite things to do is get together weekly and progress the season. First on regular rosters then a fantasy draft. Seeing as how I'm not an online player and I'm the only with an XBOX, I can't justify a purchase sadly. I'm sure the other advancements will be fun to watch from a far.

I'm fine with it as it is. Editing players isn't my thing and I only care to play as one team. I don't have time to play more than that.

Of course no one likes features being taken away, but the mode is going in the right direction for once. People will still buy this game by the masses and next year will be even better.

I am a Browns fan so I'm used to looking forward to next year.

I think we give Madden too much of a benefit of the doubt each year. This actually might be the year the game should get it, but it's like that well has run dry from my perspective.

Just realized Transformers comes out the same day. Hmmmm....

Perhaps, but it's not really the same thing. If it were a situation where, they had 7-8 new things to add to the game, but only were able to put in 4-5(but did them extremely well), then this argument would work. It's a little harder to take that latter stance you mentioned, when EA added 4-5 new things, but took away 3-4 that were already there; to me, it doesn't hold the same weight.

Just a different viewpoint.

And another thing...I never play online. Like a few other posters have said, I play with my buddies in the same room and actually have in face conversations. I know online gaming is important but to completely take away everything the offline gamer uses is just ridiculous.

Completely turned off by it and I'll be sticking with updated rosters for both NCAA 12 and Madden 12 and be completely unfazed by the whole thing.

Bottom line is that I've had little faith in EA on next gen the entire time its been out. I think doing what they did last year in listening to their customer was a very positive step towards what it means to be responsible for customer needs. To turn your backs on your customer and just ignore what was important last year and dismiss it like that have just shows how little they understand the big picture IMO.

I didn't buy last years game but I am buying this years so that should tell you all you need to know. I'm not a high school/college age kid with tons of time on my hands(not saying ALL high school/college kids have a lot of time on their hands), so I don't edit or try to control all 32 teams. I don't have the time for that. I play franchise with one team and that's all I have time for. I can understand people getting ticked off about editing and the other stuff but I'm guessing they'll be back in the game next year. Like I said I didn't get Madden last year and I lived.

I still plan to pick up Madden 13, but the loss of several features, most importantly couch co-op, has definitely dampened my excitement.

As I posted earlier today:

The closed nature of Connected Careers has not turned me away. I will miss using NCAA draft classes but I am sure that will return probably in 14. A lot of the features that did not make it in this year from previous years I don't really care about anyhow and I only ever play as 1 team. I got over the fact that I wont be able to use draft classes , but as a result I am not going to get NCAA this year. Madden just sounds so awesome that I am just going to focus on it and skip NCAA. I am very excited for Madden 13.

I must be able to edit player ratings and play season/career, otherwise any sports game is useless to me. Will not buy Madden 13, no way, no how.

It doesn't really matter to me. I never edit rosters during franchise mode, nor play other games. While it's not a big deal to me, it would be nice if it was in, especially since those options have been in for years.

im completely turned off by this new mode, ill probly rent it just because i love football but im not spending 60 hard earned dollars for this. better luck next year i guess

# 59 DMorganU44 @ 06/13/12 02:53 PM
Completely turned off...

After read about the new engine and CCM, I did my first pre-order ever. A new engine and lot of Head Coach parts in Madden!?! Are you kidding me?!?(100%)

So, I learned about the omission of imported draft classes. A bit hit, but they promised to work on it and bring a flawless feature. (70%)

ZERO edit, I meant, ZERO?!?! TKO

Shame on me I´m such a fan of Head Coach and football and will be here to see some people impressions...

# 60 Skyboxer @ 06/13/12 02:57 PM
I'll be in line at midnight to pick it up (if I cant get earlier)
So no, not affected at all.
