Madden NFL 13 News Post

It all seemed too good to be true.

Now after this week's bombshells that you cannot edit players in connected careers or play any other games in the mode other than your own, it seems like the Madden team is once again forcing you to play your game their way. To me, this is a huge problem. Others of you? Maybe not so much. But let's hear it: Has the 'closed' nature of Connected Careers turned you away and/or cooled your enthusiasm about Madden NFL 13?

Sound off!

Yeah ,Im bummed that you cant edit or use custom playbooks.I wish they would get rid of MUT,superstar mode, madden momemts, team play all of that, and just give us an amazing franchise mode with real halftime post game and weekly wrap up shows, custom camera views..

Not one single bit.. this is going to be the single greatest madden ever built.. i think.. i havent actually played it yet.

honestly...I could care less about it because I've now started to focus on these games as a process. Each year we're going to have to be a bit more understanding if we want these games to evolve. Madden has made a HUGE leap for football games, now we have to allow them to build on that. NCAA looks pretty generic and stale, so since Madden has gone in the direction of innovation, we've gotta give them time to build on that.

There is no franchise mode. There is one mode, connected careers. It's a combination of franchise and superstar mode.

IT turned into a rental for me and maybe a late purchase used in feb or something. I just want to try the infinity engine out. The rest of the game is useless to me now.

I will playing NCAA all year long now. If only they had the infinity engine too I wouldn't even play madden this year. I think they did that on purpose.

I'm still waiting for next-gen Madden...

Turned away? No. I still have a "buy" on the game, though it probably will not be a first day purchase.

Likely will wait to see what feedback comes in from players and what else is coming out at the time.

Still interested in seeing the new mode in action and getting my hands on it, just not a "go get it now" game at this point - and it could have been for me.

As of this moment tho...No. Still like the mode.
What? The future of it is the exciting part if they build on it and find a way to add back in the omitted features in ways that are actually functional.

But to answer the OP, no it has not turned me away at all. A couple have things are a bummer, but I'm still very excited for M13 and happy with my pre-order

Having only one choice to play NFL football as a video game. That's it.

On another note, I scratch my head at the tweets I see at Josh Looman; people saying how they appreciate EA not rushing things to get it right. Am I wrong or is putting out CC and taking away options in itself rushing the product!?

Yes, I was excited at first but after hearing about no editing of the rosters and no Co op in offline CC I was really dissappointed. Single player Franchise would get stale after a while and playing CC online with random people doesn't sound appealing. The only thing that kept me playing Franchise mode (now CC) was that me and my friends could all play together on the same console (Multiple people on same team) - the four of us would play, one as QB, one as RB and two of us WR's. I still can't believe they took out co op play on a TEAM sport. I could understand not having this for online CC but there is not reason not to have it for offline CC.

Personally, while I understand people's disappointment, I never used any of these features. I always just used an official update when starting a franchise and haven't imported draft classes in years. I also don't have teh free time to actually watch/play other teams' games.

This new mode seems to be an integration into Madden of all the great things NFL Head Coach 09 did with some very nice improvements tacked on. Head Coach didn't let you edit players or play other teams' games either and I absolutely loved the game.

definetly has cooled my enthiusiasm but wont turn me away completely from purchasing the game....let's just see how it plays first before i make a full assessment

i was excited till all the stuff that came out about franchise and now im either gonna rent or do the ea sports ticket and wait see if i like or not. im an offline franchise type player and with everything taken out from that mode that i like to do to me its not really worth $65. i may just keep playing 12 i already have every single rookie made up in this yrs draft class plus i can edit and change number's as i please and wont have wait for the so called "czar"'s weekly updates which he has never seem to get right.

That's what I've been wondering, having never played Head Coach myself. With all the praise it got from the offline franchise community I figured there would be more faith in Looman. How was the AI team-managing logic in HC?

Knowing now, that the only difference between the demo and the real game will be being able to select another team...nope...no reason whatsoever to purchase the game. I can get a bead on the infinity engine from the demo alone. Nothing else I want or could find out about the game that would excite me would warrant purchasing it.

Unreal that they could take something out that they finally put in after people said they wanted it for years. Just doesn't make sense. Ran out of time? Jeez... I'm not very pleased with this news. I would be ok with not being able to edit them inside of CC, but to not even be able to edit a roster outside, and bring it into CC... that's a big problem IMO. Especially with how unreliable EA's rosters generally are. I've still got my preorder, I dont think ill change that, but I'll check it out on the season pass thing first and see if I like the gameplay much better before deciding whether I go out and buy it, or keep playing Madden 12. Shame it comes to this really. Had such high hopes for this game after all the June 4th announcements. But as a mainly offline franchise player, this is not good news.

Depends on how you wanna look at it.

You can look at it like "well they didn't include ____ and ____ and ____ so they must be rushing it out".

I look at it as "well they included ____ and _____ and ____ and spent a lot of time making sure all of those are fleshed out and balanced and then just ran out of time to include ___ and ___ and ___".

# 38 mvb34 @ 06/13/12 02:25 PM
Looking at the big picture no.. I am disappointed for no being able to play or view other game but I know that stuff will be back. I still will download the game three day early and will be in line at midnight release..

In reply to the OP, I don't feel the mode is "closed" at all so my excitement is still very high.

I know it may be a WILD idea, but how about we actually play the game first before just bashing these changes to oblivion.
