Some of you are putting some VERY high expectations on Madden this year. I'm really doubting if they're going to be able to live up to that hype.
I've thought Madden has been boring since about 08. At least I know what I'm getting with NCAA this year - A solid game that I can put 100+ hours into and enjoy every minute of it... especially with the new passing mechanics and recruiting adjustments. The demo plays great. I'm pleasantly surprised by it. Feels completely different than '12, imo.
I just played the demo for the first time...I'm very impressed with the new WR catch animations. I saw quite a few different ones.
I also like how they've made momentum matter just a little bit more on catches and interceptions. On NCAA 12, I could basically stop a receiver in his tracks after coming down with a pass and switch directions...on NCAA 13, receivers have to take a few extra steps before being able to cut it up field. Same with interceptions...I saw a few defenders momentum carrying them out of bounds instead of them turning on the dot and running up the sideline.
Defensive backs do seem a bit smarter this year...there were a few stupid moments, but I haven't played enough to truly get a true idea of how the DB's defend.
The motion blur on replays seem to be slightly over done.
I'll have to play the demo some moe to really give some more impressions.

No, not because its a challenge, but because the WR's make zero effort to make a catch, while the D is all over the ball. That's the frustrating part

I like to take shots deep when I've got single man coverage down the sideline. It seems every pass is underthrown, even if I push up on the RS when throwing, lob it, bullet, it dont matter because the WR just keeps on running, while the CPU DB slows up and makes the play. That's not football. The WR's should make a play for the ball too. That's whats really frustrating me, its frustrated me with this series, and madden for the last several years. That and the OL/DL interactions, or lack there of. Fix this stuff up, and Im pretty happy.

IMO I definitely see the change and upgrade from NCAA 12 to the demo of NCAA 13… many people are complaining but honestly this has the potential to be one of the better NCAA games released on next gen and if you don't agree with me wait until Aug 28th and knock yourself out with the infinity engine …and as for the graphics looking poor on PS3 I have yet to see them, I'm playing on a 42" Panasonic plasma and the graphics (minus the field) look crisp so maybe it could be you tv or game settings...

Played the demo once. Found out it was the same thing I've been playing for years. Deleted it from storage unit. The game isn't good.
I don't know, I noticed single coverage on my wideout and threw a beautiful bomb and the WR caught it in stride for a TD.
I threw 2 Hail Mary's and both times into coverage with two or three db's around. It was one Int and one knockdown. I don't know, I thought I deserved those outcomes.

Just played 2 games and honestly it's NCAA Football 2012 version 2.0. Gameplay was improved and I like the catch animations but the atmosphere and presentation are virtually untouched. The end celebrations are the same. Same player of the game animations...come on EA! The studio upgrades have the potential to be cool, but what I want to see are non-final scores and player stats on the ticker. Still 50/50 on buying this game. Hopefully someone gets the full version early for reviews before I cancel.
It's the little things...the passing feels really good, and I love seeing the receivers reach up and catch the ball with their hands. And on crossing routes, they keep running, and don't have that little hitch. But everything else feels the same.
The changes are nice, but still fairly minor improvements. I'm curious if dynasty mode will work as advertised.
Still on the fence...$45 isn't too bad, but may wait for a potential $35-40 price.
Edit: Oh, but I HATE the Studio Updates. I'm one who doesn't care for the TV presentation in these games. I want on the field presentation. I want to feel like I'm part of the game, down in the muck, where players are getting beaten up and are tired, fighting, struggling and jawing with each other.

Playing as USC on PS3. Late in the 4th quarter, Oregon scores on a long pass (they kept me as the FS... thought I switched to DL that was chasing QB). Oregon was called for illegal touching... 1st time that I have ever seen that penalty called!!!

Probably going to fire up the Demo again after playing it a ton last night and posting a boatload of observations. Unfortunately, more bad than good. Pass defense is not good. Option defense is glitched (not bad, glitched). I can see this being a very offensively swayed game. Difficulty and sliders may help, but I'm seeing a lot of troubling things.
And that doesn't even consider how god awful the game looks on the PS3.

the studio updates couldve been a good feature... but there is hardly any different sayings, in the demo i heard the same things in different situations from different games...thats going to make it lame, it will have no specific feel to it, they say the same things over and over again.. honestly it got old in the first demo game... didnt seem to have much effort into it.

I have had a good time with the game so far, plays smoother. All these comments about it being ncaa 12 2.0 on animations and appearance...is crap. Go back and look at ncaa 04 on ps2...almost same graphics as 09..but everyone loved those games. I plan on buying it and Madden.

Right back to playing the Demo tonight. Will continue compiling/editing observations. This first game I'm going to be Oregon and just play offense, supersimming the rest.
- Editing a previous observation, apparently each team DOES have their team specific playbook, but for whatever reason, when you switch between KSU and Oregon during the same Demo session, the book doesn't change. Oregon's base playbook is 100% unchanged from last year, which makes me sad given the wide variety of new plays and sets they utilized.
- Kick returns are insanely easy. Ran the first for a TD, ran the second to the 40.
- Read option and spread running is ridiculously easy. Buck Sweep was money last year, even more so now. It went for a 45 yard TD once and a 20 yard gain the next time. Did get it blown up once when a LB shot the gap where the playside guard pulled from.
- Unfortunately there have also been a TON of situations where a TE or OT has blocked the guy I'm supposed to read.
- The CPU does not know how to defend the option. It remains glitched out. LB's just slide with the play in Cover 3 and DB's do not react at all.
- Pulling guards tend to block nothing if their initial read is not there. I did get one great downfield block from an OL, but more often than not was left out to dry. No FB in this offense so not sure there.
- Closing speed by defensive players in pursuit is absolutely insane. SO fast.
- Ran hurry up from 3rd and GL at the 4 to 4th and GL at the 2 to try and catch USC by surprise, they went from Dime to Goal Line. They were still unsuccessful.
- Some different punt bounces is much appreciated.
- The damn pitch button change is driving me nuts.
- Finally saw a new play! Within Wing Offset, there is a play where the WR on the outside runs a jet across the formation and you can either hand to him or keep and run a speed option back from where he came. Very cool.
- WR blocking downfield is hit or miss. A lot of miss.
- I scored 6 touchdowns, failed on all 6 2 point conversions. I did not pass once.
- On the one defensive drive I played, the CPU threw 3 times. Drop, drop, interception. So bad.

Playing online will suck because of the nano blitzes that somehow are possible in this game. And since you can't throw it to a receiver who isn't looking it's impossible to get the ball off.
