I have noticed that it is very different and you get great coverage on those particular routes.
I noticed this as well. Just for fun, I tried to run 5 slants plays in a row against USC.

1st pass- Completion
2nd pass- Drop
3rd pass- Completion
4th pass- Deflection
5th pass- Interception

I'm not sure if the defense "keyed" in on my play or anything, but it was nice to see that I only had about a 60% success rate (the drop should have been a completion) on a play that used to be mega-cheese.

I thought it played pretty good. As many have stated, I really like the passing and catching animations. Feels pretty smooth.
I also love the feature of aborting the PA if needed with the RT. Nice addition to help break you out of an animation.
I really hope you can customize the controller layout though. But that's pretty minor.
Going from my fully rerated roster in '11 I know I will have to make some tweaks, but again, I fully understand that we don't have access to the sliders.

I played the Demo, I enjoyed it. Thought some of the changes they made were very good. I feel this edition will be more of an offensive game especially with the trajectory passing. Also, if you have a mobile QB, you should be able to do some serious damage along with the trajectory passing.

Some plays worked very well some did not. The Power O the pulling guard rarely gets his block. A WR screen, the blocking is hit or miss, mostly missed. In contrast to last year’s game, you could set the screen up better by allowing the rush in. That doesn’t matter so much on this year’s version.

As a defensive minded guy, I wish there could have been some fluidity changes with the defensive guys like the offensive guys. I am interested to see how the defense will perform on Heisman level. I like the way the blitzes are design especially the zone blitzes in the nickel and dime formations. Secondary play could be a bit smoother in terms of breaking on the ball with the cornerbacks.

NCAA Football 2013 is a definite buy IMO. There is more good with the game than there is bad. EA put out a great product this year. Can’t wait to get my copy.

I thought I'd add my 2 cents as well. I've been playing this game since 98, and I liked 12, in fact I'm still playing 12. It took me a long time to find sliders that made the game play well for me, but I've had some great games.

After playing the demo I've noticed the following I liked:
- I like the new passing trajectories;
- I play as a D lineman, and I do notice a difference in the line interaction, I don't feel as helpless when engaged with the O-line, I've been able to dis engage and make plays, get sacks, knock down qb, etc.
- CPU offence was pretty good, and I didn't see them try too many of those screens that result in an automatic sack for me like in 12;
- New animations look good;
- I like the score updates.

I didn't like the following:
- Certain cut scenes on PS3 look very jaggy and worse than 12 IMO;
- The crowd is brutal, Alabama is driving on me late in a tie game, and when their offence is coming to the LOS it is dead quiet, it is 2012 now and they still haven't added a decent stadium atmosphere to this game;
- The defense may not be psychic, but they now have superhuman closing speeds in coverage;
- I think the blurr effect takes away from the visuals.

Overall I like the game, it's fun to play, but it just doesn't appear to be enough of an upgrade to make me want to spend the 60 bucks and waste weeks trying sliders again. I'm going to stick with 12 I think. If I had skipped 12 I would definitely buy this game, maybe 14 will be enough of an upgrade.

Coverage wise it seem the LB will take the WR down the seem. My only problem with that was that Bama's ILB was stride for stride my WR and I couldn't put it over the top because the QB has a noodle for an arm.

Grass looks horrendous ...my goodness whats going on with the grass? It looks like last gen grass..seriously and the patches of 3D grass mixed in with the flat textured grass doesn't help anything..in fact it makes it look more like a mess than anything else. The graphics overall just seem worse now for some odd reason.

I was never a big fan of the NCAA football series..i dont know..i just don't like how the game feels exactly the same each year no matter what they do..maybe its the college music and sounds in the background that makes it feel the same each year along with the same worn out commentary guys.

I am just not feeling it..i definitely wont waste 65 bucks on this game, that is for sure. I just hope Madden really delivers this year because its all i will have for my football fix now.

According to Steve, the demo is a month older than the E3 build.

AFter playing each matchup once, as well as messing around with RG III, i have to say the game is fun. A few notes.

1. I absolutely love the new passing, now i can really trust my eyes and have to recruit accurate Qbs (....maybe) What sold it for me is just about every pass i threw was caught in stride when it was completed. Got an awesome post pass completed on cover 2 when the saftey commited to the outside streak route, led the WR more towards the middle of the field and caught a great TD pass.

2. no complaints on the running, pulling guards seem a little smarter this year, and i was actually able to make a few cutbacks once or twice for some extra yards.

3. the damn DT's still get through, but now i'm seeing more animations on the DE's and sometimes they get there. I'll have to see the tuning in the full game to really have an opinion on it. Also, blitzes ARENT psychically blocked now. I've had some safetys and LB' come free fast. Pretty good.

4. Love man align is fixed

5. I like the steady weather progression, but i still have fears that i won't see an overcast game during the course of my dynasty. One of the last things i'm pining for in the future along with some revamped line play.

6. RG III is a monster he Heisman thing was over the top but fun.

7. I hope the CPU runs the option a little better in the main game, but i doubt it. I'll just make GT a spread team then.

8. I can tell the difference between Baylors, USC and LSU's defenses. I was breaking open a lot against baylor, it was way tougher against the other teams.

All in all its simply fun to play, which is all i want nowadays. I'm not going to harp on the negatives, because the positives are quite good....except for the weather in dynasty. I'LL NEVER STOP HARPING ON THAT. EVER.

All in all i think i'm going to keep my pre-order, especially since i'm only dropping 45 this year, plus i'm not getting screwed out of uni's with the amazon pre-order.

I may be seeing things or may be getting crazy, but I saw my LE get double teamed by the RT and RG.......anyone else see this happen? I was playing as LSU against Bama

# 671 weeeeeeez @ 06/07/12 02:57 PM
Still don't understand how DT's get more pressure every play than the DE's.

I've played five games and have had the opposite experience. This is one aspect I've noticed marked improvement from '12.

Im wondering if this is everything they are going to offer in this years game. It really does seem like this is an updated version of ncaa 12, which was not all the way bad, but its just seems like there is a lot of things missing. Does anyone know if there is anything else they are going to add or is this it?

It doesn't happen as much as last year so far but its still there to an extent. If it STAYS at this level in the final build i'll be fine with it.

I'm not sure what exactly you mean with your question, but of course this isn't everything they're going to offer because there were updates to dynasty and the demo only allows you to play three selected matchups with limited quarter lengths, no access to sliders, etc. You can read about all the features at http://www.easports.com/ncaa-football/features.

Same thing here. I couldn't quite put my finger on the graphics but they just dont seem sharp and good. When I saw the grass (i didnt have 2012) i thought it looked like a mess in.

I've been able to get heat with the DE and I even think they added some commentary from Herbstreit to remind you that it's soemwhat fixed.....lol

It might have been just one game for then or maybe it's just USC. The DT's were just running over the center and guards.

I haven't been able to download the demo yet but as long as the spread option/zone read has been fixed to where it is at least viable to run then I will be pleased. Can anyone confirm that the zone read has been fixed or improved? I feel that as long as the QB comes out faster after faking it to the HB then I will be ecstatic.

I can harp on other gameplay elements but this one was the only one that really go on my nerves. Super LB, psychic DB's, play action not working, etc. does not bother me because these problems were on the ps2 games and I enjoyed the hell out of those classics. And according to some of the comments so far that these have been fixed as well. Thanks.
