After 2 games last night, I thought the demo was pretty good. It does feel much different than 12. Defensive AI especially. Also, the biggest difference I noticed was in the passing game. However, some one stated that it is not very difficult to complete a pass while throwing on the run. I would agree with that. I think that should be tweaked.

I'm still on the fence with cancelling my pre-order. I will have to play more before I make that decision.

I would think that the throwing on the run ability is probably easy due to the easier difficulty setting.

I wasn't sure about this game until I played the demo. The game feels a whole lot better with the improved passing mechanics and the "read and react" defense. the QB is no longer "stuck in mud" on the options and dedicated QB runs. The passing icons didn't break the game like I thought it might. I actually feel confident running the option in the redzone and when I need to score or get a first down.

A few things I've noticed after only playing 4 games.

1. I'm seeing a lot of dropped balls by the cpu when their receivers are wide open (mostly on comeback routes and screens). USC players dropped 4 wide open balls one game.
2. I'm also having a problem with pulling guards on power O plays "giving up" before I even cross the LOS.
3. Cpu screen game is hit and miss against me. I've managed a few sacks while the cpu Qb is doing the drift step right before he throws the screen. If I don't deflect the ball (and if the Rb catches it) they manage a great play against me.
4. The new catches are nice. Still getting used to the passing, but it's awesome to see db's making diving attempts for passes. I've only seen one shovel pass but I've attempted them many times.
5. Having trouble controlling the qb how I want to. I do like the avoidance moves and the slowed down pocket speed, but I'm kinda iffy on the dropbacks. They look good, but the built-in pump fakes on some plays have gotten me sacked. I don't feel like my own controlled pump fakes and dropbacks respond as fast in-game in relation to how soon I press the buttons on my controller. After I pass the LOS with my qb, there is about a 2 yard window that triggers a pump fake animation rather than a juke, spin, etc., which has stopped me from making a big play on a few occasions.
6. Still getting caught in animations that don't really make sense for the situation they occur in. This happens especially when you break a tackle in the middle of doing a spin move. Once your back is turned to the would be tackler, you usually go into an animation that forces your ball carrier to run back towards the LOS; not being able to control your ball carrier until the animation is complete, which is about 3-4 behind where you intially made contact with the defender.

It seemed easier to user control my receiver in NCAA 12. Jersey colors look somewhat better? I know they said the Michigan State green was fixed, but the Baylor and USC jerseys also look better (I haven't played '12 in months so it may just be me lol). I know the news about the Infinity Engine was a dealbreaker for some people, but even with my minor gripes, I feel like I can find enjoyment in this game. Here's to hoping Amazon has this game at my doorstep July 10!

I may be wrong but I think the complaint is that momentum doesn't play enough of a factor, so it's too easy to cut and turn. I'm ps3 so I haven't tried it yet, but I agree on 2012 at least. It isn't a deal breaker for me but it's noticeable.

Only had the chance to play one game (Alabama-LSU) but that's enough for me to see that for $45, this game will be worth the cost.

The studio updates will add some much-needed immersion into Dynasty Mode (I don't think they'll be as frequent as the Demo), and the score-ticker on the bottom of the screen is really well done.

Gameplay-wise, it doesn't feel all that different from NCAA 12, but that's not a terrible thing. Players did seem to have a little more weight to them. I saw a couple of nice consecutive hit tackles and actually pulled off a couple of nice juke moves with the R-stick. The R-stick moves on defense seem more responsive, too.

The CPU threw too many INTs and Alabama's run game wasn't very effective against LSU's defense, but those are things that I know I can fix with sliders once the retail version is released.

The crowd sounded better than last year, which was severely lacking.

I will say that I was hoping for more variety in the pre-game intros. I like the team-specific stuff (never skip no matter how many times I see them), but the mini-team huddle with the QB saying something and raising his hand up needs to go, or at least needs to not be shown every single time.

One other thing I noticed was the clips shown between quarters were running extremely slow. Not sure if that's by design or not, though.

All in all, I'd say there's nothing in the Demo that would steer me away from the game, so that's a good sign.

Me (Oregon) versus CPU (USC)

This is by far the best game of football this generation. The "slight" changes make a WORLD of difference. Less skating, better flow, amazing passing game. Believe me, from what I know and hear the RTP is not a refined product, it will be a nightmare for glitches online too. Probably lag online more too since that's additional data that needs to be loaded rather than a stored tackle sequence.

I'll say it again, EA MMA stunk, and RTP is being brought to you by...

EA MMA' team.

Madden vs NCAA this year is no slam dunk. It's flash vs substance. You are all in for a shock who thinks this will be a seamless addition.

What is seamless is this new passing system, terrific.

Something else I pointed out is the kick return camera view is making it a lot harder for me to return kicks which is a good thing. In 2012 I was very good at it but this different view for some reason is giving me problems.

I did like the read react. But sometimes it seemed they just programmed the defender to always look for the ball so that it would appear he was looking at it when he made the play rather than having to look for it before making it.

Seemed much smoother, I like the punt return setup but is still seems that the blocks are not great. Don't think special teams got the adjustments I was hoping for.

Read option seems 200% better than it has ever been. Never ran a triple option or pitch so not sure how that worked out but the sped up read option was nice and you will get burned by a good team if you don't contain.

I also think the crowd reacted more appropriately but still seemed way to quiet for me. Especially in Death Valley?
Like it but not in love with it. It's a must buy for me every year, but still feel like not enough improvement was made. Of course I don't remember a year where the demo played anything like what I got when retail came. Unfortunately retail usually has a patch right away that ruins some gameplay aspect. We will see in a few weeks!

A fair honest assessment IMO.

I feel the same way as you. If this was NCAA 12 i feel as if these things would be considered a patch.

This is what i felt like NCAA 12 should have been last year after EA read our complaints.

The fact that they are releasing it as NCAA 13 a new game doesn't really excite me because as you pointed out there was nothing really greatly improved.

Some people will take offense to these types of post...but i felt that after NCAA 11 EA had made huge strides in gameplay. With NCAA 12 and NCAA 13 based on the DEMO I think they have taken small strides basically if this was 12 the game would be a monster a huge leap up from NCAA 11.

But it just appears they are finally just now responding to our concerns after they released NCAA 12......this is more like the patch we should have recieved last year and this year for NCAA 13 we should be getting the engine that Madden 13 is getting.

I'm pretty sure most of us will still get the game but if guys are being honest with themselves they know darn well this is how the game should have played last year after the PATCH.

Yes it say's NCAA 13 but lets keep it real fellas.

Played a little more, just not a fan as of now. Running is extremely easy. Triple option out've shotgun still confuses the defense. Ran an easy 40 yd TD with UO's QB because the safeties stayed in their backpedal well after I was past the LOS.

Every deep pass I throw has been short, even if I bullet and throw high to try to keep him in stride, and I can't user strafe anymore (if autostrafe is on the CPU does it, if its off it hasn't been letting me).
I ran a post against cover 2, WR ran past the FS, and the SS came up to stop the short pass. I let it go, led him so that he could still run under it. The FS that he blew past for easy 20 yards, just turned once the ball was in the air, tracked it and made a diving pick. Nice animation, but the phantom speed bursts seem to still be in the game.

I haven't noticed an super LB's, but I've ran quite a few comebacks that the CB's stuck on like glue and a few picked it off. One still broke on the ball before my WR did, even though he had started his turn and run animation. His break to it was the exact same break the WR's make when running the route.

Even with the QB evades, I have minimal time to pass. I played one game as Baylor and only passed and ran hurry up, And I was still sacked 8 times. A couple were my fault, but the majority was DT's pancaking/chucking my guards down and getting to me in under 2 seconds.

And my last gripes, same as most people. Game looks extremely bland. THe studio updates are annoying (I know its probably ramped up for the 3 min qs). I supersimmed defense in 1 game, Barkley threw the ball 43 times. In 3 min qs, that is atrocious.

I also find that motion blur makes the game look really bad and is greatly overdone. When it shows a player getting up and walking back to the huddle in a cutscene, there is no way he is moving fast enough that you need to have motion blur.

i was cool with the demo until i saw the team ratings, by far the worst ratings i have ever seen.. decent teams are rated 95 and above and a team like texas is 99, where as bama or ou is 97...i dont know if they did this to spite some fans... but most likely they did it so a lot of fans would be surprised and happy that their ratings are far above then what expected... honestly it will f up dynasty to an extent as well

Considering I am getting this game for 25 bucks on Amazon, I will gladly buy it. NCAA 12 was already pretty solid, and with the improvements to dynasty and gameplay (as long as superhuman DBs and LBs stay gone) I'm going to have a lot of fun in my OD with friends this year.
