Just got done on the PS3 Demo.

Overall it seems like an extremely polished version of NCAA11. The presentation was nice but definitely didn't WOW me. If you like NCAA and temper your expectations I feel it's still worth a pre-order.

One of the things that did stand out was the actual game play. The handling of players on both sides seems a lot smoother and you don't get locked into animations as in NCAA12. The catching on both sides of the ball was extremely smooth and the head tracking was a nice touch.

The goal line Fade passes looked and worked extremely realistic and smooth. Before it was pretty easy to execute a goal line fade but the animations in general seemed too pre-established. The replay now shows both my receiver and CB leaping up in the direction of the pass with my receiver getting a little higher and grabbing the ball away- very smooth. My second goal line fade was intercepted.

I had a quick slant I threw to a WR where the CB was on top of him step for step but was looking at my WR and not the corner. When the pass arrived my WR lept up and grabbed it behind the CB's head and then tried to turn up field for more yardage-Very nice!

I also had a play where the WR was on a comeback route running back towards the pass and I was a step behind him as the CB. It appeared the pass would be a completion but I hit the triangle button anyway and my CB dived forward and swatted the ball down. The biggest thing that is standing out is the smoothness of animations, every thing feels smooth. I cannot stress enough the WR and CB animations, it's not perfect but you can definitely feel and SEE a big difference.

The last thing that stood out was the passing. You can truly lead WR's now however if your leading him a direction that's not part of his route and he's not looking your going to have to manually take control of him or else the pass will be incomplete. I didn't notice it so much on the high arcing touch passes but more so leading guys left or right and on curl routes-pulling the stick down and having the WR actually run back towards the ball instead of trying to pick it up down by his feet.

ESPN Bottom Line doesn't show up on mine, either. 360. Have a widescreen and changed the resolution.

  • Intro is still pretty awkward
  • I'm Tired of the ultra zoomed in replays
  • They need to get rid of that awful defense chant/crowd needs to be louder on defense
  • New passing trajectories are nice
  • Game plays a little faster
  • Motion Blur is overdone on cutscenes and replays
  • Too many interceptions. as in QB's throwing to well covered recievers.
  • New catch animations are great.

One other thing, when the CPU receiver is running a drag route and I am rushing the passer with the DL. When I try to switch players, sometimes I am switched to the CB in man coverage of course taking him out of the play and leaving the WR uncovered. Pretty annoying.

Also, curl route on 3rd down is money. Sometimes a little too easy. DB's should be protecting the first down line in that situation.

Obviously I have my complaints, but the game is definitely better than '12.
I actually think the stalemating is a vast improvement. In 12 we saw far too many situations where guys were ending up on the ground and plays where getting blown up or broken way too often. Stalemates and jostling are much more realistic in my opinion.

One thing i noticed that i didnt like= On a deep pass the db was clearly beat but he was looking for the ball, he should have been in an all out sprint to catch up to the receiver and make a tackle instead of looking back for a ball that was clearly over his head.

Seriously people. You should know what you want in a game before complaining about everything just because EA makes the game. Honestly, it's gotten to the point where you're complaining about the cleats being the wrong color or the ball being too big (which you don't notice unless you go to replay and look for it, to be honest). Regardless of how good the game is, gameplay or presentation, you people will find someway to complain cause it's an EA game
You must be new around here...

Downloaded both 360 and PS3 and the graphics on the PS3 are horrible. Last year the PS3 version had really bad jaggies and its the same thing this year. I don't understand how EA feels comfortable with butchering the graphics on the PS3.

The gameplay does seem much smoother though.

Demo plays exceptionally smooth and tight, got me really excited for release day. Only one game in, but it's looking like a made a good choice by not abandoning ship post-E3.

The dynasty changes and the Heisman Challenge make me think that this won't be just NCAA 12.5. It won't be an earth-shattering different experience, it won't ever be perfect, but I'm sure that my tenth straight year of NCAA Football will be another good one.

lol I see the irony here as well.

Although it is a very polished version of NCAA 11', like some one said before, that's not a bad thing. NCAA 11 had a really good core and I feel like NCAA 13 will have the gameplay we've wanted for years. And next year will be a revolution. Then in NCAA 16 it will be a very polished version of 14. And so on and so forth.

Pretty much. This place is great for stuff like rosters, stadium sounds, TeamBuilder, dynasty stories, sliders, etc...but it's also the biggest platform for nit-picking that I have ever seen. People are never satisfied with anything, especially an EA game.

My second favorite sports game series (even though it is a better game overall), FIFA, is hailed as "revolutionary" year after year...but, at the end of the day, it's still a simulation soccer game.

At least we know this is the last year of this kind of gameplay, for better or worse, I'm glad this is the last year the game will play like this. All in all, I'm leaning towards re-pre-ordering this. For once, it feels enough like college football that I just may be able to enjoy a dynasty.
Enough said. EA marketing and man's hunger for the only college football game out there trumps common sense yet again. What would encourage me to do better as a company if I had customers like this..................
But what people like yourself don't seem to understand is that I'll get more value out of NCAA (even if its not a great game) than something like Skyrim. I loved Skryim, and put 75 hours into it. But with NCAA, I'm going to probably play it for 100+ hours. I'm a huge college football fan, and when EA gives me a game without super linebackers, a new passing system, and studio updates, it would be very hard for me to go back to '12.

I apologize for not thinking on a large scale. I'm going to put my money into a product that will be worth it for me. I'm not going to try and boycott EA because I know the game should be better than it is by not buying the game, but rather treat myself to something I know I'll get a lot of enjoyment from.

I agree.
With some of the changes, I cant go back to '12. My only real gripe about gameplay is pass rush and rushing.
Plus, I really like the recruiting changes.

I'm totally with you on this one. Like you I bought Skyrim and I enjoyed it for a few months but shelved it halfway through the story and just couldn't get into it anymore. It's probably because I'm older now and games just don't seem to keep my interest quite as much as they used too. NCAA 13 is going to be a great game but I think i'll pass this year for the first time in a while just because of everything Madden has to offer with the new RTP.

If your a fan of the college game though, I don't see how you could pass this game up. The passing alone will make this game much better than last years.

Game seems to play a little better. The studio updates are annoying though.

I am in class so I can't edit. But I had a TD pass that I swear had to be a blown coverage. It was 3rd and 18. I call a play with 3WR 1 TE 1 RB. At the snap it looks like cover 3, with one CB and both safties taking deep 3rds of the field. The FS for whatever reason breaks off his deep middle 3rd assignment and chases a receiver to the left on a deep corner route, well the opens up the deep post route which goes for a TD due the the coverage gaffe. Later or tomorrow I will edit the video and show it.

If that was something that was affected by DB awareness I would be very impressed.

I've been told that the frequency of them will be toned down for longer length quarters. I can deal with 5-6 of them a half when I'm playing 7-9 minute quarters.

But will u still say this when the first patch reintroduces super LBs and all sorts of other problems?

Will you say anything if it doesn't?

How is this the same game? Complaints/Praise will always be along the lines of "Glad they fixed X" or "Y could use a little more work." But they added in a lot this year. I'm happy, with or without RTP.

PS3 has noticeable jaggies in gameplay camera. XBOX is smoother in this area, but colors are still good. Game looks pretty clean in zoomed in replays though.

I can't get enough of the variety of jumpballs! Love it. Throwing the fade inside the 5a yd line was decent last year, but this year is great.

I've seen the same thing as well. I'm more of a passer than a runner anyways and I've seen corners totally get lost when their back is turned and the WR is looking for the ball. Awareness must play a bigger role than ever I'd imagine with them touting physic DB's and Super Linebackers being a thing of the past.
