So, yeah, the last sentence was positive.

I enjoy reading impression that have pros and cons, so, when I fire up the demo, I can see for my self instead of all positive or all negative.

Just me, though.
Fair enough. I'm never big on the demos myself as they don't always mirror the real game. I think NBA2k11 was similar to this (ps3 demo was buggy, no audio, etc..). Final game was amazing.

I appreciate guys writing their honest reviews and impressions on here, whether they be pie in the sky "this game is god" type ones or the opposite. As long as its not fake or a rant.

I like what I see so far. I can see user catching will become very popular on jump balls. I had this one animation trigger that had #9 on USC go Calvin Johnson an a dude; which only led to the corner still separating my hands making me drop the ball. Good to see more give and take in the WR CB relationship.

I wish this got more attention by players, but PS3 owners seem to be the minority to 360 players in sports games. This has been a constant problem specifically with EA throughout the console generation. It's obvious they develop the game on the 360 and port to the PS3 but it never ports well. This goes for all EA sports games. The textures seem lower res, shadows and colors don't render correctly, and so on, basically what you mentioned. Generally I've found field textures and endzone textures to be especially poor.

As for the jaggies, well that's a console limitation. I think I read somewhere that the PS3 doesn't do AA or AF very well which leads to jaggies.

This is what I'm specifically looking for in the demo, to see if it ported over well. If not, then I'm just going to cancel my preorder.

I downloaded the Xbox version and played 2 games. They game play IMO is the same as 12. The "new" features explained when you pause the game I could see, but nothing really changed to me. I may not see it, but like the juke with the right stick is the same as 12 and states it is a new feature. The game plays just the same and I will not spend the money to purchase.

I am now downloading on PS3 to see if there is any difference. If there is I will pick it up for PS3, but if it is the "same" on field play I will just wait for Madden. I am hoping Madden will be great as the new commentators already have me excited. Plus the fact that the Bucs have a different looking team and can't wait to play with the this years draft class.

After playing my first game on the Demo, actually playing my 1st half, I took some notes, and at halftime here's the real about this game. Baylor vs Kansas State.

1) Through 1 half, the CPU returned ZERO kickoffs. Of the three kickoffs, one was returnable, and the cpu simply downed it. Not feeling that at all.

2) As was a setback in NCAA 12, playing as a D-lineman is still a horror. Very hard to disengage the CPU O-linemen even with your best guy on the line.

3) Rece Davis right off the bat can be annoying with his repetitive lines to initiate the studio updates. You can tell this was a rushed feature and not much work put into his voice over. The in-game updates however are an awesome feel. I do not like that there aren't actual highlights with Rece Davis, and EA is 7 years behind on that feature. Ridiculous to not have this by now.

4) Deep route over the middle, the DB doesn't play the ball, he simply mirrors the WR catch animation allowing an in traffic TD. Such was the case in NCAA 12 with mirror animations. Not a good look.

5) Tackle animations still look ridiculous at times with defenders falling like ragdolls off the ball carrier, or just falling down after making contact. Just looks bad overall once you take a hard look at it, or see it over and over again.

6) Still a few pre-determined animations. Ball was lead in front of RB yet a DB was directly where the ball was being placed. Instead of making an easy interception in the flats, he lets the ball hit him in the chest, and goes into his tackle animation as the RB goes into a catch animation. Looks very bad and you'll see this over and over.

Also had a LB over the middle go into a tackle animation while the ball was being thrown at his spot. Rather than play the ball he decides to tackle a defenseless TE.

7) UPDATE ON D-LINE USERS: Definitely the same as NCAA 12. CPU down 10-0 less than a minute to go in the half, and God Mode kicks in. Pancakes my user controlled D-lineman over and over, or I just can't disengage no matter what, UNLESS I allow the CPU to control him for me by holding X. This is lame, and very ridiculous! And obviously won't ever get fixed.

8) Reaction time on scrambling QB's is still very bad. During the God Mode drive, my defenders aren't reacting to the QB until he's 8 yards past the line of scrimmage. As in NCAA 12, once this is shown on video, it makes the gameplay look very suspect and hard to deal with. No football player stands around watching a QB run right at them.

9) CPU God Mode still kicks in as in ALL EA games yet again. Down 10-0, Kansas State, having done nothing all half, drives with ease, while my defenders all of a sudden feel like they're running in quicksand. Score is now 10-7. When the game gets like this it feels beyond your control. And makes the replay value take a drastic decline.

10) SUPER LB SPOTTED! During the God Mode session, as I'm driving with 36 sec left, wide open TE over the middle, streaking gets the ball swatted as a LB beaten on the play, leaps about 6 yards to swat the ball. It looked so ridiculous it was comical. But expected to say the least. While they did tone this down tremendously, you WILL see this. Especially during CPU God Mode.

Overall, after 1 half, I can honestly say I don't have to play this Demo again, and can wait for the release, because really not much has changed. A few stitches here and there, add some new yet unpolished features (Rece Davis) and we basically have the same base game from previous release.

I will get NCAA 13, because I'm amped for some College Football, run some Dynasties, and once they get boring, or lose steam, this game won't last. I can see it already. Hopefully it has enough for me to keep longer than NCAA 12, which lasted 3 months in my PS3. And I hope people are foolish enough to think in 30 days these things that are still evident here, will be removed come July 10th. We should all know better by now.

Like others, you are entitled to your own opinion, but I feel almost half if not all of that is very false information. You only played a half so all these grips are not 100% accurate. First of all, I use the Dline and I have gotten in the backfield numerous times. Your first gripe, simply tune the sliders, problem solved. The studio update grip is not right because in a half you could have only seen 2 or 3 updates if that and I doubt they were repetitive, you just have to complain about something. The deepball is played by the DB, do not know what you are talking about, I have thrown 3 INTs going over the middle now. Of course the animations are pre determined, this does not have a physics engine so soon as contact is made, the animation kicks in, but they are so much smoother. You say you saw a super LB when in fact I bet you thought you lobbed it but tapped a bit too hard and threw it right to him, remember college players do have some hops. And this "god" mode you talk of, dude the game is on varsity.. its called you failed under pressure.

yes your opinion is taken, but do not give false implications of a game when you only played a HALF. This game is similar to 12 since it is not an overhaul, it has fixed numerous things that were wrong before and added a few nice touches such as the passing system.

This is the crap that bugs me because you play one half and then have to name almost everything wrong with last years game in a half you played which honestly, I doubt you even noticed all of the things due to no instant replay.

The game is not 12' and if you spend more time with the game instead of bashing it, you would start to see that.

The new passing is SO nice
game looks 20x better than '12
sounds way better
ESPN stuff is better than ever
defense is so fun to play now

Best game yet!

You realize that he's a mod right? You probably shouldn't down talk him like that because you were a tad bit offensive.

I don't think he was antagonizing you, he was just saying that you should probably play the game for more than just 1 half before you post up your impressions. No need for you to go off on a rant. The reviews in here have been generally positive and I think I can speak for the OS community when I say that we don't mind negative impressions at all. It's only when those impressions are based on a couple minutes of gameplay that we might get a little up in arms.

I am not mad at all. I just don't think its fair to say that, as you said "the real" on the game is this....and that being based on one half of play. But that's your opinion. So its cool.

Also, I do not think its the same as 12. So I guess that means I'm stupid. And As far as being blinded my EA's antics. well I haven't bought an EA football game since Madden 10 and sold that a week later.

And as far as the "spending my parents money" pot shot goes. Classless.

Enjoy your game, as will I.

You are entitled to your opinion, but one of the things I noticed is smarter decisions by the AI at the end of the half and game. They spiked the ball, called timeouts, etc.... I saw a dropped pass in the flat by the CPU. I've noticed the commentary and crowd is different than 12.

So, just one game into the demo, and I have 3 improvements from 12 and I haven't even touched on the passing game, no physic lb's or cb's.

So, I respect your opinion, just don't agree with it.

You are so wrong buddy. We do not care that the post is negative, we care that you act like you know everything about the game after a half of play, when in reality, you do not even really see the game. You can be entitled to your opinion, but hey when you claim its the same game, and a lot of us enjoy it, do not expect us to go along with your opinion. Either way, enjoy your game when you buy it.

People have negative things to say all the time, but they post their opinions in a constructive manner (as per the TOS you agreed to when you signed up for OS). If you can't post constructively and without being rude or asinine, then your time here will be short lived. It's not that difficult

Just played some of the PS3 demo and the players look shockingly bad. They look like they came out of a PS2 game. Everything else seems to be a bit improved but man the players are a jagged, low-res mess.

If that was the case, this forum would be a ghost town. There are plenty of negative impressions in here that are perfectly fine. Just make sure that you aren't personally attacking people or trolling (goes for positive opinions too) and you're fine.

Yeah the PS3 graphics are bad. Why can't they get this down right. I know its a port for the most part but do they think no one will notice the drastic difference in how bad the PS3 version looks to the stellar xbox's?

Im gonna have to whip the 20 coats of dust of my xbox this time around. Hope it still works.

After playing two games, USC vs. Oregon, ps3

Pros:
Bottom line is going to be huge when it comes to keeping me tied in to a dynasty.
Studio updates are alright and will be nice when there is more variety I think. I'm hoping they left some commentary/studio updates out to conserve file size or something.
The new catching animations make a huge difference, and are huge for DBs and safetys going up for balls too.
Running feels a bit better
The AI feels a bit tighter

Cons:
They have got to tone down motion blur in cutscenes. It looks awful.
On field logos still don't look as good as they should.
Oregon tried to run three straight HB screens and got sacked 3 straight times which ended in a safety.
I thought we were getting more hot routes?

Over it's definitely an evolution, not a revolution, but it's fun and I'll be buying it.

That is an over exaggeration.. It is not night and day. It looks good on my xbox and ps3. I play on a 42" LCD TV. Maybe that is the problem? I have also noticed on PS3, the closer you sit, the more jaggies you see. Sit back a little farther might help also? Just a suggestion.

# 558 Diggler360 @ 06/06/12 10:00 PM
I have posted several positive impressions to date about the demo.

But I feel the game plays quick vs. 2012. Too fast. The plays seem like they are in fast forward mode. I remember this being issues with previous demos... I think final product will have the default, or more importantly, online sliders, slowed down.

The extra animations really are nice and the loft you can put on the ball will allow for some crazy online games... much more skill oriented than money plays in my opinion.

I had an awesome animation, where there was a fumble and it was moving out of bounds... I was locked in playing LB, I ran forward, he did a somersault towards the pile and rolled onto his back and stood right up as the ball went out. We didn't get possession and the home crowd went nuts.

# 559 RnRexpress3423 @ 06/06/12 10:04 PM
Alabama just did a fake field goal pass on 4th and goal from the 5. It was awesome as I've never seen the CPU try and do that before. Only thing was, the guy dropped the wide open pass lolol. Shame

# 560 Diggler360 @ 06/06/12 10:07 PM
Does anyone feel like the defense once the play is made, is in lock on mode? Like they feel like they are accelerated to the ball. Move a frame or two faster than the offense...

Seems like it's a cheap way for them to make up for the more offensive oriented changes to the game. LSU RB got ran down quickly in open field by a DE.
