When they turn the corner on you on defense be sure to adjust your angle to cut them off. It is not like last year where you move diagonal and the animation saves you. Think of retreating to protect the angle to the basket. Your going to have to give up something with slow footed defenders.
Yeah I'm already getting the hang of it and I know you're gonna have to give up something. I guess I'm projecting what I see in the demo to players that are quicker than LeBron and what they'll be like. LeBron seems more twitchy than in real life where he kinda of explodes with longer steps and sort of rolls into his gathers.

No biggie just trying to chop my steps and force the ball handler to help. I like the chess match believe me.

Well - I still have issues with some AI decisions but like I mentioned earlier I will wait for the final before making judgement.

I know - it's a crazy concept!

Don't you worry though... the Nets will be waiting for you in 2k12.

I played 3 games this morning.

The Good:
  • Animations are better
  • Control is better
  • AI is better
  • Preesentation is better X3!
  • I can clearly tell this game is more polished, more refined, mo better!

The Bad:
For the guy who is on the fence about this game - this demo does not help. I am just not in agreement with the barebone demo approach. I can deal without commenatry - but no camera optionns or settings change whatesoever? And only one 4 minute quarter?

I can't wait for the game of course - it will be great.

Where is the signature gather button? I know it has been replaced as the backdown button (Y) so where did they move it too now?

Just finished playing the demo and I have to say that this game is amazing. Gameplay wise, the game has improved a lot.

Things I noticed:
- The game feels more like a chess match. You really have to use strategy, exploit mismatches, and think more in this game than you have to in the last game.

- You can really see the weaknesses and strengths of offensive players. J. Kidd doesn't have the speed he used to so he can't drive to the basket. Dirk has no strength so he can't back his player into the post as much. I can't say that the game, overall, is making it difficult to drive to the basket though because we aren't able to use a quick PG like Rose or Wall yet. But I will say that its good to see that you will have to think about your players weaknesses more when you play as a certain team.

- It seems like running plays won't be that necessary to play good, sim, basketball. What I mean by that is, plays are nice but sometimes I just want to move the ball around, find the cutter, drive and use common-sense basketball knowledge to play the game. I don't want to always call a play in order for someone to cut to the basket, post up, or have a player run through a screen and get open.

- Dribbler animations are nice. When I want to walk the ball up they have the appropriate animation for it. Same for when I want to push the tempo.

- Defenders seem to play more to their strengths. Chalmers played tight D on Kidd and always when for the steal. Chandler was active when the Heat drove to the paint and always tried to block the shot. Defenders, as a whole, seems more engaged then ever before.

- Graphics and player models are also better than 2K11 but that's a given.

All and all, I think this game is definitely a must buy. I just hope that 2K doesn't follow the trend of recent sports games and gives us a workable, glitch-free, Association mode.

I've never played you when you were the Nets. I do remember eliminating the Knicks recently though.

Beluba said its gone. I'm glad, as I thought it was a bit of a waste of a button.

You'll get more of that in 2k12. And no more mercy quits.

I'm loving the defensive awareness of the players. Even less mindless passing or you will get torched. I also really hope they toned down the screen strength, though.

There were way to many wide open jumpers off screens in 2k11.

damn...only 1 quarter for the demo this year? oh well...glad the game is only 2 weeks away...I have ps3, so i have to wait until tonight.

The feel i get from playing this... just wow... YOU HAVE TO PLAY REAL BASKETBALL. It sucks that I cant run plays, so i had to wait for Dirk to post up, and OMG, did I do work downlow... btw the AI very very very impressive. This game that 2k will bestow upon us within 2 weeks is amazing. I am blown away. Great job 2k team!

Conversely on defense if you have a bunch of slow defenders like Dallas does. You will have to give space and anticipate and move a little before the offense does to stay in front. If you had a bunch of quicker defenders it would feel different. At least it did to me in the final.

That is part of the depth of this game. There is almost no way to guard fast guys with slow guys one on one without giving them wide open jumpers. IT is also part of the difficulty.
Yes, this is true. When I was guarding Bron and Wade, I gave them space to settle for jumpers because if I tried to play them up close, they would blow by my defenders with ease. I can live with outside jumpers from both of them and they actually missed most of them.

I'm really wondering how well the AI plays on the hardest difficulty.

I love the demo, but it seems like a somewhat perfectly patched 2k11. I only played a few times before work so i can get a better go-at-it once off work.

I liked the shots. one time i was facing the side line behind the three with 1 on the clock, i shot and he jumped spinning while in air to shoot, it looked dam good. the bump was still there but i wasnt out of control just felt like i was beat by the D , thumbs up. Fastbreaks look good, seem fluid.

I really only noticed the ball being extremely live a few of times. i noticed my hand going through the ball and the ballhandlers didnt tend to lose the ball off the slightest contact ie bumping into other players.

The demo felt like a better 2k11. It kinda makes me feel like they spent more time on legends. I think some are judging the game to high based on the demo, but thats to be expected in a nba 2k forum(ex. guys amazed by small ads in the corner, really). i was guilt of this last year so ima take my time before harsh judgement or great praise. i judge bball games on gameplay only. 2k12 feels likeit will be a $60 gameplay tweek and and roster update. but, you know what if they pull it off it may be worth it, to a degree.

Why is ever1 saying this is an early build? Are you saying they wait 2weeks before realease to put out an old build. i wanna play what i would be purchasing. Seems like its a built in excuse for people. i played 2k11 demo while 2k12 downloaded and it felt better than the actual 2k11 current game.
