There are some nice subtle changes tho that make a difference but if u were watching somebody play it would take awhile for you to notice that this was the newer game imo. Controls are not THAT much different as far as response..jumpers are slightly more responsive in general and getting into post position is quicker and alot easier using y. Hopsteps are all performed with the LT trigger and right analog. Still learning all the post controls. Dirk has nice step back and fadeaway jumpers..very authentic.

Its hard to get a feel on the quick isomotion moves being nobody on Dallas is a real good ballhandler. Man on man defense is still hard..hell in my experience so far..the "quick shuffle" makes it harder to stay with your man moreso than help because it seems like theres a delay after u press a direction...its weird.

Driving inside is harder.

Midrange game is better..which i love.

You feel more in control with jumpshots and it actually feels like you release at the top of your jump when you let go.

Still playing the demo..learning some things...overrall outside of how stripped down the demo is..game plays pretty well..id say its a decent upgrade from 2k11 but nothing HUGE.
It's huge because there's only so much of an improvement you can make,

and that "so much" has been made

The player models are great, the game play has been upgraded in almost every single aspect of the game

What else could you ask for?

I could careless what the video looks like, I don't play video games to watch videos.

Played one quarter before heading to work. Here are some quick thoughts.

Pros:

-Love the new intros.

-Player models are better.

-Jumpers look and 'feel' better.

-Player movement is silky. The transitions between animations are very smooth.

-Fast breaks are 1000x better. The players move with a purpose and get where they need to be.

-Ball physics are better. I had a nice block from behind from Nowitzki as LeBron went in for a flashy dunk. It played out really well and nothing looked wonky about it.

Cons:

-Short demo. The game is waaaaaayyy too deep for us to get just one quarter. Give us four quarters.

I'm loving the new intros I just hope they change in your association that would be cool like show things both teams did from previous games

With the devs stating that playing on ball D is more advantageous to playing off it's gonna be tough trying to stay in front of guys.

I'm sure I'll get it down but, it seems the defensive movements are more elongated than the offensive movements making it difficult to change direction quickly enough to keep up with the quicker offensive movements.

Looks like I'll be playing a lot of zone vs the Heat haha.

The game is beautiful by the way. Can't wait til Oct. 4th.
Boot Dallas doesn't have any quick defenders on the floor. It feels different with quicker defenders. But in reality who can really stay in front of lebron ? LOL. Also done forget hold both trigger to enter your quick defensive shuffle.

When they turn the corner on you on defense be sure to adjust your angle to cut them off. It is not like last year where you move diagonal and the animation saves you. Think of retreating to protect the angle to the basket. Your going to have to give up something with slow footed defenders.

completely disagree..i like it..but in my head these statements are just false. Huge means huge..wether its gameplay..graphics..flow..whatever..nothing is a huge upgrade going by the demo.

The only real difference in control this year are the new post controls and jumpshots..this is just going by the demo tho. Other than that..differences im seeing are just moreso the WAY u perform moves..the moves either being the same or different animations for them. The locomotion is not that much different at all to me. Post defense still feels the same outside of having a bigger window to strip. I do notice when somebody is backing you down u can move back quicker..a la "pulling the chair out"...thats nice.

I cant see how you can sit there and say "not much else can be done"...there will always be alot that can be done..i could go on a rant but the only thing that would do is paint a picture as if i think the game is bad..its not at all..i just dont think its a huge improvement like alot of people in here are portraying..i dont want to mislead people who havnt played yet..im just trying to be honest as possible. Some of you guys are literrally making posts as if the game is completely different than 2k11..its just not..its a improvment yet..but dont say huge man lol.

The flick flick moves for the step through is great, cant wait to master it, dribbling is more responsive, loving how I can go in what ever direction I want instead of watching a animation play. Game feels ALOT more smoother. Crowd atmosphere was great, just a little too early to beef it up. Gonna test it on the surround sound later.

Quick impressions:

+ Love the new collision detection/physics/changes to the animation system
+ Variable intros are great; won't be getting old anytime soon
+ improved cpu play: uses special moves more, plays smart, more aggressive
+ Love the little TNT-like advertisement - brilliant
+ Y button for initiating post very intuitive

- Short demo, although can jump right straight into another game
- missing the replay button!

Plays like an infinitely more refined 2K11; having fun learning new controls

Again, to each their own. Just because you don't believe its a huge difference doesn't make it true for someone else.

Personally, it feels a lot lot different than 2k11. But then again, 2k has consistently stayed in my console for the entire year. To me, the player movement is better, the jumpers are smoother, there are consistent reach-in calls, the AI makes you pay with great offensive play and Dirk is a beast........wait that is the same as 2k11.

As someone that likes to call some sort of play everytime down the court this is the most frustrating experience you can imagine

One team to play with October cant get here fast enough

For those worrying...

In my time w/ the game (not the demo) I saw 3 second calls and the game didn't freeze.

Just FYI.

Wasn't talking about stopping him. Umm yeah he's tough to stop but, his movements aren't so quick and compact that it's hard to stay in front of him.........

Well as a true NBA/2k/and Basketball fan I must say the improvements are HUMONGOUS!!!!!!

They might not be to you, but they are to me and anyone who takes a true NBA/Basketball simulation seriously. The things that you might consider small are a huge improvement to me because I look at the bigger picture.

The way they changed the post game really separates the finesse players from the power players and the face-up players from the back to the basket players.

When you play with Dirk you're force to shoot mid range jumpers and keep your defender off balance because he doesn't have the strength to get deep in the post, not to mention CPU (and probably users) can actually block your post shots this year if you don't keep them guessing.

In 2k11, you could get deep in the post anytime you wanted to with any player.

The way they they fix the contact really makes strength an important attribute offensively and defensively.

That's a HUGE improvement to me. You're force to simulate the player in order for him to be effective.

Enjoying the game. The single player experience will certainly be better this year.

I still have a problem with guys dumping on 2k11. That game can hold its own and isn't leaving my collection.

For people calling out the layup line, I'm not so sure. I'm blocking shots left and right with Chandler and Dirk with the help side defense. I'm going to have to watch out for that when I play with my boy D. Rose. Also, I'm loving the lack of the out-of-bounds force field. I've turned the ball over a couple of times on a drive with Fernandez and the CPU stepped out driving baseline with Lebron.
