This is the type of shooting I've wanted for years. Everything finally feels responsive, compact and smooth. Catch and shoot sequences on kick outs to Dirk and Rudy have been great, and close out speeds are accurate.

This "shot composite" system is brilliant! Now when you go for a quick pull up in transition their form up top stays true to their normal shooting motion, while they have some extra bounce in the legs. It looks and feels great, and I've been able to pull up properly behind the line, no accidental long 2s!

Now I need me some Warriors basketball to really test out the drive and kick game!

dirk hit an amazing game winner and the REFS ACTUALLY REVIEWED THE PLAY.

im speechless. 2k, man you guys are the gods of sports gaming realism. i praise you once again and will honorably hand you my 60 dollars for my pre-ordered game on oct. 4. the only game i get once a year is back again. and it has already topped 2k11 with stellar gameplay, graphics, and presentation. who cares if the lockout is still going and theres no rookies or roster updates, im 100% getting it on oct. 4 no matter what.

i am beyond sold.

I call it a play the way I would see it cam. If I'm running an offense and calling plays its easier and more fluid from the 2k cam in my opinion. Nothing cheesy about seeing things happen from behind your offense as opposed to the press box.

Has anyone had a Terry or Marion sighting yet?

It could be worse. It could be a madden demo where you get a full game but the gameplay just isn't a big improvement over the previous year lol. IMO the 2k11 jump to 2k12 is bigger than the madden 10 jump to madden 12 (the most recent 2 maddens i played). Gives you an idea about which company cares about their product and actually has passion in making a better game.

Experience so far has made me believe that you have a lot less turbo in 2K12 than you did in 2K11. Whenever I start running with the ball, it's never long before my turbo depletes.

I understand it could be more but as I said, it is what it is. Soon enough we'll all be playing 2K12 and no one will remember this topic.
I think people forget this. They have to take time out of the schedule and make a special demo version. That's not necessarily an easy thing to do. Nor is it totally free to the developer. But for YOU, it's free. I've never been on to look a gift horse in the mouth (I wonder where that saying comes from) so I'll never complain about the amount of content of a demo. It's a demo. I WILL complain about issues - such as the FT glitch. I'd rather they take a day and fix that for the final instead of adding another quarter on the demo.

Impressions:

-Boxing out actually works!
-Post up/Shots take some getting use to. But it feels like it's the way it should've been all along. I spent all year mastering the wrong way and now I have to unlearn it But it's hard to explain - but it goes back to Rob's point about getting rid of the Canned animations.
-Presentation is pretty nice
-Demo is featureless
-There's a lot more pump faking and defenders jumping. Hoping this doesn't translate in PvP
-Maybe I need to play more, but when folks dunk, I don't hear the typical dunk sound. It sounds like a regular jumper going in.
-Lebron is fast!
-At around @1:45 I shot a 20 foot hookshot with dirk ????

After playing this demo 3 times I have to say this is the smoothest this game has felt since 2k8 in regards to control. I love the post mechanic as it is now very simple to turn your back compared to 2k11. The A.I. from an offensive standpoint is far better than years past as wade and lebron used everything in their arsenal to create space and get to where they wanted. People will be calling Dallas the cheese team this year with the tools available to Dirk in 2k12 lol. His fade away is nearly unstoppable and my best friend who is a Mavs fan will be in love with this game.

Like playing defense a lot and look forward to playing it against a human come October 4th. 2k failed though in regards to depth of the demo. Maybe they can argue the fact that they didn't have time to put in the playcalling but the lack of even a versus option is pretty pathetic (unless I'm missing some way to activate it). I expected the bare minimum so I'm not too heart broken. Despite all that I liked what I played.

I don't know if anyone else posted this but I committed a flagrant on Wade on a fast break. I used the intentional foul button. He got 2 free throws by himself then the ball on the side.

? They celebrated after the shot. Celebrated after the review. What more do you want for the end of the FIRST QUARTER?

The video quality was horrible though. I'm still dizzy after seeing that.

# 375 CX1329 @ 09/20/11 03:32 PM
My only complaint is that the demo is too easy. It's hard to lose, especially considering how ridiculously hard 2K11 can be. Then again, like I said before, the demo is probably on Pro, like last year.

Im not disagreeing or agreeing with what you are saying because I have mixed feelings on this subject, but isnt the demo release part of the development schedule? And dont they just pick what build they want the demo to be and just code out the stuff they dont want in

Followed insturction on how to get 1 month gold membership. Thanks guys.

My quick thoughts:

Presentation
I'm liking the new presentation... some new sounds coming from crowd when players are taking free throws.

Intro looks good. Erik Spoelstra looks much better. Yeah I love going up on that stands just for fun... (what do you call that where broadcasters sit with rotating ad board? is it just called a table?)

Game play
I'm not sure about Y button for post up. It will take some time getting used to. (What does LT+RT do now if anyone know? )

Also did they get rid of hop step... sorry I haven't been following OS threads on this.

I noticed players doing half spins and etc when I didn't ask for it. There are some little animations I don't know why it's happening. Weird.

Smoother game play for sure but hard for me to notice marginal improvement from last year in this area... though. (don't think it really need one... didn't expect much in this department really... smoother game play improvement is where it's at.)

I've seen Marion. He's come in in the games where Butler got hurt. I'm guessing you could probably foul Kidd out to play with JET.

1. Yes, there's no more hop step button. Instead, you use the shot stick to perform step backs and hop steps.

2. If you tap RT, you'll do a half spin.
