Anyone managed to draw a charge? I was playing with Jason Kidd, pressed the B button had a good 1/2 of a second so no doubt Kidd was set, Wade drove on him and I get called for a blocking foul

You dont need to generalize anyone into some group called you guys because I have a problem with that, first off.

Secondly, stop making lame excuses then telling me what im satisfied with, especially after that wack analogy you just tried to present that doesnt fit what we're talking about.

I know what a demo is, and you cannot give me one good reason why i cant switch teams, call a play, or even hit restart... its just stripped and you are giving me some silly story about thanksgiving..

CH4L...The demo is alot of fun, and I think i'll be searching for that standing alley tonight

In terms of gameplay, with a controller no, the possibilities are not endlezz. Unlezz you want to count holding the controller upside down, sidewayz, making a control scheme that is terrible, etc.

Theze games will eventually peak - either way - keep looking towards the future and missing how great the present is.

That's because you can't call plays and get Chandler where you want him.

On the real tho I havnt seen any 2 player canimations, which is great cuz everything seems contexual.

I was sold when Lebron took it strong over Chandler only to get contact, contort his body to the side, then attempt to complete the dunk over Chandler.(missed the dunk but still got a foul)

2k is starting to bridge the gap between videogame bball and real bball. Czar warned us and I dont think we're ready yet.

1 quarter only, You're Dallas... cant change anything, cant run plays.. when it ends you have to start all the way over

Game boots to an insanely nice intro.. Kidd walking in the tunnel to a grainy screen then a bunch of dynamic wipes from a game.. just as described in previews

Then the up next and lineups.. then into the arena

Some guys have on old generics so this is def an old build

Anyway i had on break with the Mavs kidd in the middle with Caron on the left and Rudy on the right...

Filled the lanes nicely, and I got Caron a two handed dunk hanging on the rim that Lebron tried to stop from behing unsuccessfully : )

Lebron returned the favor though dunking on Caron later on with 2 hands going in a wide open lane.. so if you leave the lane open the CPU will attack it

LeBrons jumper looked smooth too, and its great shooting with Dirk...feels great guys... shooting feels pretty good

I had once chance to do post moves with Dirk... gonna take time to get used to in the paint, but its nice and loose, and allows you to make moves, even get guys in the air if you do it right, which is did, and got a scoop back handed layup made with dirk ; )

Going to play one more but that was it though

Walk up the court animation is in, and its nice doing the push the ball up fastbreak when you need it... listen

They will transition up the court on you if you dont get back, so play defense
So true Wades killing me with that.

You both have a point.

People are going to gripe regardless of how deep the demo is - just look at the FIFA demo.

STILL... they can include more than the current bare bones offering now.

Either way, it's a demo. It's free... and the only people complaining would be the ones too impatient and want the game now.

I hardly ever see someone say "I can't really get a feel as to what this game will play look b/c of the demo... I wish I could know more."

This made me laugh so hard.

Saw my first injury in the game. Chalmers went up for a rebound against Dirk and felt down clutching his ankle. Glad this year players gather around the injured player where as last year they would back of about 15 feet and all make a circle like the player had a disease of some sort.

Either way I'm loving the demo. As mentioned through the past months, it's 2K11 but with a lot of additions and polish which is what I wanted. Two hard weeks ahead.

Couple things I saw with the post that I liked:

A switch happened where Kidd ended up LBJ near the block. Wade gave LBJ the ball where he just abused Kidd with his strength. Looked really good.

Another is Wade was backing down Rudy where a offensive foul happened. Now this wasn't the old 2K charge on a post up where you would post up and either the player fell down and you got a free lay up or a charge. This was almost as soon as he ininiated the back down. It looked like a high elbow with a flop by Rudy? Hard to tell with no replay but glad to see it.

Cant help but to agree with you...

The CPU D wade just crossed over drove then stepped back to hit the open shot. I felt defenseless but it felt great. Lol

You know the game is good when people are complaining about length of demo, teams, restart buttons, etc.

Good points Pared, I was thinking the same thing. The demo did do what it was intended to do, and while one could want more from it that means the demo was sucsessful in that regard. I just want the game that much more though

It definitely is good.. that was never the question

I think the devs did some fantastic work.. cant wait to try out things like calling plays and making adjustments during a timeout

# 335 HeavenlyTouch @ 09/20/11 02:42 PM
Although I haven't played the demo yet (waiting on ps3).. I understand that guy who talked about 'boxouts'.. Live 10 had really good boxout mechanics.. you rarely saw that consistently in 2k10.. it's just a bunch of guys standing around trying to out jump eachother (usually the guy winning is a random player who ran in and had momentum because he had a running jump as opposed to the other guys standing around waiting to outjump eachother - or the most athletic guy there will grab it).

I can't complain though in terms of rebounding stats, from what I've witnessed in 2k11 the right players at the end of the game have great rebounding numbers - Aldridge, David Lee, Hansbrough, Love, Griffin, David West, Howard in my last few weeks.. but it just doesn't feel like they're really dominating the glass the way you get the feeling in real life.. mostly because it's the out jumping or ball landing in your hand type scenarios as opposed to actual boxouts and fighting for the boards

Don't get me wrong, I like the demo, but it isn't as 'WOW' to me as it seems to be for some others.
I loved 2k11 but my biggest gripe was the lack of feeling in control of your player. Something little like being able to stand in place and control the movement of the ball going back and forth from left hand to right hand shows how much work was put into giving you full control of the player. Like the developers said in 2k11 it would feel like you were on a roller coaster ride at times and you were just watching animations being played out (something that 2k had trouble with the past couple years). So far my biggest gripe with control for 2k12 is that I dont know and remember all of the controls yet lol.

I also like the speed, quickness, and explosiveness of the players this year. It looks like they are actually playing with energy where as in 2k11 you didnt get that feeling that players were really trying to break down their defenders and blow by them.

Also gotta mention how smooth the game looks (and I thought 2k11 was smooth). No hitches in animation transition and little nuances in the animations make certain plays look very life like. After playing the demo I'm glad that 2k hasn't released too many gameplay videos; videos do not do this game justice at all, you need to play the game to appreciate the improvements.

Wow, sorry if you were offended by that.

Also, I'm guessing you meant to offend me by calling my analogy lame. It failed miserably. The analogy fits for me, so I shared it. Whether it fits for you is of no relevance to me.

This thread is about impressions, yet you sit here complaining more about what the game isn't than about what it is. To me that is complaining just to complain. Especially when you down the demo badly then try to sugar coat it with a "Despite its glaring flaws, I'm still enjoying the demo, 2k guy."

That was actually pretty funny. You going off on me only gets your blood pressure up, not mine.

I'm not putting anyone down who does, but I just don't understand not being happy with a demo. It's free, and if you don't like it you don't have to take it back to a store...just delete the dang thing.

Before you know it we're going to have an NBA 2K13 Demo Wishlist thread. Just wait two weeks. Man alive...

No doubt man. It's going to be a hard two weeks as it usually is waiting for the next 2K after the demo.

Fortunately Gears and FIFA 12 will help ease the process.

# 340 HeavenlyTouch @ 09/20/11 02:45 PM
There are definitely some generalizations being thrown around..

People aren't complaining about the gameplay of the demo, they are preaching that it should have more content.. there is nothing wrong with that.. almost every other demo out there has a lot more to offer compared to NBA 2k ones..

For those saying that people complained about FIFA.. I was so happy about the amount of content they gave, and the gameplay didn't feel short at all for a sports game demo.. 6 minutes total, replay options, menus, restart option, statistics, substitutions, camera options, freestyle dribbling/shooting - I'm surprised people will complain about something like this..

If you compare the 2k demo to other sports gaming demos, you should realize you're getting the short end of the stick here.. that's the gripe

Anyhow, it's not worth discussing anymore because they won't change it now regardless
