The Madden NFL 12 demo is available now. Please play a few games and post your impressions here. For now, just search under "M" in the demos section or games section. It weights in at 1.53 GB.
I wanna say, getting the positive comments from especially Playmakers and Lisa is really gratifying, I know you guys are hard to please.
We're really working toward a new era for this game, and I think the team is more on board for that than ever before (as evidence by the fact that I'm still here, as my intial contract was extended).
It's there... not sure if maybe the demo branch was made before we put the UI in for it. Try Up (to activate the presnap menu), then "A" for individual coverage, then the button of the receiver who's cover man you're trying to adjust, then left for shade left, right for shade right, up for back up, down for press.
Yeah i was kinda harsh on Madden 11 even though i still played it a lot go figure LOL!
But this year like i said after two games with the demo I think you guys did a very good job.....yes the game is way too fast at default but after dropping the speed and player threshold this game was pretty darn good in the gameplay area.
The thing that stood out to me is the defense i can tell even in the demo that this game has great potential on that side of the ball...no more constant shootouts like Madden 11 seemed to dictate.
For some reason i dont like the game. its sooooooo weird playing it. everything presentation wise go by so fast. idk. i may have been playing too much of ncaa 12. i guess that ign guy was right. i hate not liking it
5. I like how players argue with refs over calls. Jennings caught a TD pass but the ref said he was out of bounds. Jennings got in the ref face arguing his point of view saying he caught it in bounds, doing the whole arm movements and everything.
6. Zone coverage is very good, even against 4 verticals.
7. DEs actually pass rush and get after the QB.
8. Runners use ALL of their special moves.
9. When the QB scramble, they actually run with a purpose and try to get a TD. And NOT slide after 3 yards like they do so much in NCAA 12. Scrambling QBs also use ALL of their special moves while running, something that they don't do in NCAA 12.
Over all I can't understand how Madden 12 is so much better then NCAA 12 when they are made in the same building. It is like a night and day difference in game play, presentation, sound and graphics.
Some of these facial animations are down right eerie looking how life like it looks.
One thing I am seeing alot of is that animation where a tackler just knocks the running back down like he just hit a brick wall. It happens and plays too much. It makes it seem a little to arcadey. I have not seen that many wrap tackles if any.
Pros:
Presentation
Tackling
Passing Game
Running Game
Cons:
Kick Meter
Player/Refs popup randomly
Quarters go pretty fast for 5mins each
Replays they dont start at the beginning of the play.
Character faces kinda remind me of Madden 08
i have been playing the demo since early this morning and i have loved every minute of it. i had one game where i broke the nfl record for most td passes in the game when i used the bears.
the only thing i don't like that i hope is fixed is when you have a big play, you pause the game and want to go to instant replay, it never starts at the beginning
Does anyone know if the defensive player will be given more time to make pre-snap adjustments? Unless the guy on offense makes adjustments it doesn't look like there's time to setup more than one thing. (BnR, crash left/right, blitz lb, etc).
This game is not a must buy for me. It is a high maybe for me. I'll probably wait a few days after release and see what other real players (not website blog owners) say about certain concerns that I have.

the fast hikes in the game wont get u any time but when madden 12 comes out thye said it be fixed but ill wait and see
BTW, love the kicking meter. Makes so there are no more automatic 58 yard field goals. And block fg's are finally a possibility! Punt returns still need work IMO. Can't break anything past 3 yards with Hester...
Lots of great feedback so far guys. I've been compiling the feedback from across the community and it'll be getting sent over to the development team later today.
This might not sound like a big deal but with QB Accuarcy at default settings i had like 2-3 poor throws by Cutler.....
now why is that big to me....well in the past at default settings i don't think i've ever seen a QB make a poor throw regardless of ratings. I mean he just completely missed his WR's.
Might just be my controller but for some reason on kicks when the meter comes down the response time when I hit A is not good. Doesnt even recognize I hit A half the time.
Yep, super LBs are gone. The trajectory of intermediate passes have more of an arch, and you can throw it over the LB and it will get to the receiver before the safety can break it up. In NCAA you pretty much have to have a lane.
Is this the general consensus? I haven't played the demo yet. I may have to buy this game if the super LBs are gone. I couldnt stand them in NCAA.
for comparisons sake here is some vid of tackling on M03
Overall I think its an improvement from 11 bit still not digging the running animations which look and feel funky and the tackling while improved still doesn't look to be up to 03 or 2K5/8 standards but maybe it will be improved in the full game.
Probably not a day one purchase(getting the Wii version at launch still) but will get it when its on sale.
Punt returns still need work IMO. Can't break anything past 3 yards with Hester...
This is my issue, and has been for a few Maddens. To the point where I pick "Punt Block" when I want to get a good return, over "Punt Return". It just seems that my guys can't block and you just get tackled as soon as you catch the ball..always.
