NCAA Football 12 News Post


EA Sports has just posted the NCAA Football 12 title update #2 details. The patch is currently on schedule to release before the end of the month, no exact date, as of yet.

Before getting to the details of the update, I want to take a moment to thank you, the NCAA Football community, for all of your patience and assistance during the past couple of weeks. A great many of you share the same passion for this game as we do, and you did everything possible to help identify issues, and provide the necessary details - not just to help make a game better, but to make your game better. If you are reading this, you are a member of the most dedicated community in gaming, and for that we are truly grateful. Now, on to the details:

Week Advance Anywhere
  • As a token of our appreciation, we’re happy to announce that as of today “Week Advance Anywhere” on the web is now available for use, and that this feature will be FREE for everyone to use.
Custom Playbooks
  • With this Title Update the missing play issue that led to a number of problems when using Custom Playbooks has been fixed. Not only is the issue fixed, but you will not need to recreate your playbooks! Any existing playbook will have the fix applied, and you will be able to continue using that playbook without issue.
Tendencies
  • As with the Custom Playbooks resolution, the fix to the issue of edited player tendencies changing will not negate any previously edited roster file. The fix will be applied to both those existing files, as well as any new roster file that is created.
  • If you are in a Dynasty or Online Dynasty you will not need to restart as long as your Dynasty is still in year one and you have not advanced past “Training Results” in the off-season. If you are before this point, the update will be applied to your existing Dynasty/Online Dynasty and the tendencies will be correct for all players going forward. If you are in year two and beyond, the tendency issue impact will be less and less as the players graduate/are cut from the rosters.
  • In addition to the tendencies issue, we have also included both the ability to edit height and weight for players, as well as the option to edit the rosters of CPU controlled teams. In an Online Dynasty the commissioner will have the ability to edit the rosters for other human controlled teams. These were both big requests from you in the community.
  • Finally, a bug was fixed with the profanity filter that was preventing many common names from being entered. Now, any name can be entered, for offline use. A profanity filter is applied to Online Dynasty when the Dynasty is created. If you prefer to opt out of this filter, you can set the Dynasty to Private and the profanity check will not run.
Freezes/Crashes
  • A major focus for this Title Update was to address any freezes/crashes that were found. There were a number of these issues fixed in this Title Update including a crash that occurred when there were multiple TeamBuilder teams in an Online Dynasty, as well as a crash that occurred during the downloading of an Online Dynasty file.
Gameplay
  • Increased the acceleration of QB’s on Speed Option plays.
  • Improved WR blocking, especially on option plays
  • Fixed an issue where defenders assigned to play the curl to flat/buzz zone did not engage immediately when the QB scrambles past the LOS.
  • Fixed an issue where safeties with inside deep ¼ zone would drop back instead of read-and-react on run plays.
  • Fixed an issue in Nickel Cover 3 where the flat zone defender didn’t move as the QB was running at them.
  • Fixed an issue with Double Outs from 4-2-5 Normal where the RLB wasn’t blocked properly vs. certain formations.
Highlights
  • Fixed an issue that caused a blank photo to be uploaded leading to issues with other highlights being uploaded.
Dynasty
  • Fixed an issue in Online Dynasty where injured players did not remain injured when the week advanced.
  • Fixed an issue where a player’s injury time was only reduced by one week when going from Conference Championship week to Bowl Season. Players will now be back for their Bowl game if they should be off of the IR when their bowl game is played.
  • Fixed an issue where coaches that changed jobs could get stuck in a state where they were still listed as coaching at their old school on the Players Leaving screen, leading to a Transfer Failed issue.
  • Fixed an issue that occasionally prevented Dynasties from advancing to the post season.
  • Fixed an issue with the schedule that prevented entering the Virginia Tech vs. Boston College game (fixed for both Dynasty and RTG).
  • Fixed an issue where recruiting related trophies/achievements were not unlocked properly if you signed an extension in that season.
  • Fixed an issue with Program Stability where the grade would drop from A+ to D+ in one season.
  • Fixed an issue with the Unlock All Promises PDLC not unlocking properly on the Dynasty website.
  • When viewing an Online Dynasty invite, added information to show what type of job can be selected by default.
  • Fixed an issue when in the off-season where player stats did not match up between the web and console.
RTG
  • Fixed an issue where CB’s could not audible after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
  • Fixed an issue where HB’s could not flip the play after earning the ability to do so through Coach Trust.
Online
  • Fixed an issue where player’s online stats were not displaying promptly on the Online Leaderboards.

Would you rather them have their full crew working on a patch than while it's in for certification have a tuner pumped out?

Or would you rather them push out a tuner too fast to curb the criticism then work on the patch and have to wait over 2 weeks for it to be allowed through by Sony/MS?

They just dont know how to react to the outside WR. I blame this to the new "zone" system. This have never happened before on this Gen.

What teams were you using? and what is the Safeties ratings? Becacuse i am not seeing this at all.

Maybe they should change zone back to ncaa 11

I missed this post until I got home from work..It's not that I can't play both, but figure this..I wanted to make a large chunk of dynasty done, which I don't want to do til the roster tendencies are fixed, before Madden..then two week later NHL...another two weeks FIFA...2k and so on..so I don't play two football.

Note also I said for MY purposes..not every one will follow the same plan

like I said, maybe next year

So does anyone have any idea if the CUSTOM PLAYBOOK fix will also fix the issue with the formations being out of order?

So far i have only found 1 book (clemson) that doesnt cause the formations to go out of order.

Anyone know of any other playbooks that wont cause the formations to get out of order ??

any WR and any Safety. This is basic Coverage. Cover 2 zone, you can´t get yourself get beat deep.

I blame the new zone system because the SS is "focus" on the SLot WR... when the slot WR does a 5yds in, the SS come closer to the LOS instead of back pedaling.

So the outside WR with a Streak beat him 99% of the time. When the SS try to react to the Streak, it´s too late. And to make things worst.. the CPU AI has the WRONG LOGIC to call Cover 2 when they are 3rd and long. Or even late in the game when the user needs a deep pass.

Unless it´s 3 sec left with no TO on the middle of the field.. this is the only time when they call prevent.

So winning a game by this.. is not fun.. gamebreaker for me at least.

I have uploaded a diagram to explain what i´m trying to say. Not good at english.. neither at drawing

How about a fix that stopped people from getting disconnected from EA's servers at a ridiculous rate. I get disconnected any time I leave a game or practice mode in an online dynasty. I have now been disconnected three times in a row in a user vs user online dynasty game. I can't spend an hour on the game without being disconnected from EA's servers in the menu's, only to be able to log right back in. Half my lobby games have been disconnected by crashing EA servers.

Is this a joke? I only play online, what exactly am I supposed to do if I can't finish a game? As bad as these glitches that are being fixed are, not a single one impacted me to the point where it killed the game. But disconnects do.

Maybe these things get fixed as part of the "freeze/crash" section of fixes, but these are neither freezes nor crashes of the system, they are complete failures of EA's servers. It drives me insane.

Yes but can't you shade your safeties inside or outside? Similar how you can with your linebackers, spread and pinch. If you spread your safeties they will play more to outside hashes, where if you pinch safeties they will play more towards inside hashes. Normal will play the hashes

I don´t believe you can do that. even though.. remember we are complain most about the CPU rather than the user.

So for those who says don´t run zone cover 2 or, control the S yourself, etc etc, please keep it.

Understandable but I am pretty such you can pinch/spread your safeties. Isn't it triangle or Y then right stick up or down. I am also pretty sure you can shade left or right with your safeties using right/left on right stick. I am addressing this from a scheming point of view. Something we use to do alot with APF. Not everything is broken but more a gameplan scheme. Now if the computer is being beat on this more often than not then yea it is a problem. But I would be interested in using two controls in practice mode. Running 4 verts against cover 2 zone and test pinch/spreads and see the outcomes.

Yes you can make your safeties play closer to the sidelines or more in the middle of the field with a coverage audible. It's like you said, Y, then up or down on the right stick. Up is to spread, down is for the middle.

^^This. The CPU doesn't seem to use all the tools that are available to the player. Ex. aggressive D-line, Strip Ball and pass coverage destroy the CPU even on Heisman. The CPU doesn't adjust Big Run, Catching or Blocking to conservative.

It's like you have to put it in bold letters....we are talking about the CPU AI people not the Human defense.

You can't do all this strategy stuff for the CPU AI.....

The AI should react much better in pass coverage especially if you put the slider at 100

I have read "The deep coverage needs fixing" many times. I saw it mentioned towards the CPU a few times but many of the posts very very vague it was ONLY the CPU coverage! Also I did a bunch of testing last night at the same time with this and noticed several things with the coverage slider.

100 = Defenders react slower to the cut and break of WR's. But play angles better.

0 = They react MUCH faster "mirroring" the WR much more. But they bite on play action and miss react to much more plays. It is like you lowered their awareness to zero on play recogniation but knocked up their coverage skills to 100.

Try it out yourself. Leave everything at 50 but adjust the coverage slider each direction in practice mode. Run Outs with your WR's in man coverage and watch in disbelief of how the defenders react in man coverage.

I just want the freezing issues to be fixed. I'm currently attempting to play my 11th game of the season, and I've had it freeze during three games and once while recruiting. All three times were during a CPU passing play with the ball in the air, and twice it happened in the fourth quarter. Its just infuriating.

Yeah, it's pretty sad some of the bugs that are in this game/been here for years. BUT once they fix the roster glitch, i still think it'll be the best football game this generation. With the right sliders, and named roster, this game should play well and become worth $60.

SEC i'm interested to see what your post patch 2 sliders will look like; I was using Matt10's before I realized there was a tendency glitch. Lastly, i hope there is a tuner update incoming to tweak progression down, through coach prestige, school prestige, or whatever needs to happen. Also, something to fix practice mode/in game slider differences. 0 QB ACC is two amazingly different things in their respective modes.

Fix the blocking and angle of the option, fix the biased crowds in bowl games. Fix CPU situational play calling. Fix no blocked kicks. Thats a start.

So they aren't going to fix the dirty uniforms? This is horrible. 2yrs in a row, the same problem.


and what abut the pausing and framerate issues?

it be nice if they put the feature in ncaa/madden to be able to knock off helmets from time to time. old madden use to have that feature...
