NCAA Football 12 News Post


Christian McLeod has confirmed the NCAA Football 12 roster glitch will be addressed in an upcoming patch. The fix for now? Are you ready for this? Delete your named roster file.

What are the problems you ask? Here are just a few comments from the OS community.

When you edit the name of a scrambling QB it changes them to balanced and editing a balanced QB changes them to scrambling. I noticed when i downloaded a roster with names that Denard Robinson was shown as a balanced QB so i went back to the default roster and he was back to a scrambler. I noticed it also effected the Kick off and punt returns for the CPU. And effected the punt blocking the user. With no names, I was able to return punts back for a TD sometimes with a good enough returner.

With names, the gunners get down the field super fast like they did in NCAA 11.

With out names, the CPU was able to return punts and kick offs back for TDs on me. With names, their blocking is non existent and the cpu have a hard time making it to the 30 yard line on kick offs and on Punt returns they get 3 yards now, my gunners get down the field so fast now I be right on top of them as soon as they catch the ball.

So as it stands, no names seem to give the better game play.

Being that other players tendancies have changed, I noticed some things.

1. LBs get a lot of tips and INTs on named rosters, even when they aren't in position to do so.

2. Safeties who suppose to be heavy hitters, turn into coverage guys and Intercept passes they normally wouldn't.

3. WRs get off the line quicker on named rosters and they hit stick tackle people on Ints. I had intercepted a pass and a WR hit sticked me.

4. Thomas with his new found strength is now more likely to keep the ball on read option plays. More like 90% of the time now. This was the same way in NCAA 11 when you made a QB's strength too high.

5. DEs don't generate a pass rush on named rosters like they do on non named rosters.

Now I am REALLY glad I didn't delete the default roster. I will have that to play until they fixed the name rosters issue.

Way too many players to edit get them back to what they suppose to be tendancy wise. Which is another thing, with the work around even though they back to their correct tendancy, their ratings will be out of whack.

Good players will be made weaker, weaker bad players will be made stronger.

How can they patch it to go in reverse and correct tendencies on already named rosters?

Looks like a more realistic patch is a fix to keep it from changing for future named rosters.

You have to plazy around with the attributes some to get them back to the correct designation. Like for qbs strength is a(the?) key attribute to get a scrambler from balanced and vice versa. I haven't really played around with the other positions to see what the "triggers" are. I'm sure other guys in the thread have though.

Only problem is you cant edit tendencies in dynasty well at least you can't see the tendency at the skills ratings screen...

so exit the screen and see what the tendency is, and keep messing with attributes until it changes.

I understand that it affects plays in the original four class NCAA roster that have been edited, but I am still a little confused if it automatically screws up all new recruits or only the players that you change names.

I was(am) wondering...couldn't the mods who manage this forum setup a "private" area, one that requires an invite or special privileges before you could post in there. Maybe anyone could read this area(though I don't think that would be a must) but only those given the correct rights could post questions.

Then the EA guys could come over and not have to worry about getting BLASTED as they post. If the area is deemed entirely private invite only then some members of the staff or special OS members could report on whats going on.

Well, its damn late for me and I am not thinking straight...I may delete this in the morning when I see what I've said...night all!

Don't want to go too off topic, so this is the only reply I will make on this topic:

While not quite the same, OS did attempt something like this with a private supporters forum that only those of us with colored names (other than pink, of course ) could see and post in. The devs were allowed in as well, and on the whole I thought that kind of interaction was very constructive. There were other reasons that forum didn't work though (that I won't get into), and it doesn't exist anymore.

Losing that kind of interaction was by far the biggest reason I hated to see that forum go away.

What is the best thing to do to avoid as much as i can the roster glitch...but also i don't wanna remain with no-named roster...i want names...auto-named...user made rosters..anything..what is the best thing to do...?

From what I understand you can Auto name and it won't change the tendencies.

But what if i download a named roster...and start a dynasty with this roster..if i don't like it..can i start another one...auto name the roster...and the game will be "clean" ?

Check that post back on page 84, yes if you make an autonamed roster the players will be ok but recruites will not be.

Have I missed it or is there still no official word from EA on when this will be fixed? We've got 5 dynasties on our site at a stall waiting for news.

EA Typically wont tell you what items are addressed in a patch until after it has been sent for certification and almost always they wont say anything until it is actually certified and they know the release date. Legal mumbo jumbo involved there according to one former EA employee.

For all we know a patch could already be done and sitting with Sony/Microsoft for certification.

Without going through all 117 pages, does anyone have the default roster name? The one that starts with July or whatever? I deleted mine (stupidly) and now all I have are named rosters. Help? Please?

so glad I seen this thread. even though I caught it 115+ pages in lmao..

but seriously.. the game is much harder with the named rosters. I can't score to save my life on that.. but I switch back to the regular # rosters and start winning games and the game starts playing like it should (less BS)

Just delete all saved rosters and the default roster is what is there.

But will the game *feel* the same?

Like, people say the game plays way different with default rosters, but with named one it is all off. Outside of a few player type changes, does it still play/feel the same as it does when you play with untouched/autonamed rosters?
