Player tendencies are really a big deal for me. That alone get me closer to buying the game then anything else has in the last 3 years.

I have to say, that besides MUT (IMO) there really is no gimmicky stuff they want us to see. I passed on Madden last year for the first time since the Genesis days, but I always keep an open mind. The fact that what little amount of info we just got seems more sim/gameplay centric makes me think they are hearing us now.

Only time will tell I suppose.

I may have went over board a little bit with the gimmick thing. All I am asking is stop trying to "sell" me a game with new features....improve the current features and make me want to buy it. I hope that makes sense. Honestly I would cut the Ultimate Team feature and improved on the basic franchise (online and offline). for some reason and maybe it was just me Ultimate Team just rubbed me the wrong way. Sorry folks ain't trying to be negative. I will go back to moderating instead of commenting.

Same here. I'm hoping the tendencies have as big an effect as they should because it'll be great to finally see differences between every player on the field. The closest they ever came to that was the Weapons feature, which was a massive fail.

It took EA awhile, but it looks like, between this and Fight Night, they're finally starting to realize that editable player tendencies are a huge thing with sports games.

Nah, mods have opinions and voices too.

I just don't care about MUT so, I don't let it bother me. I know it's a money maker for them, so, I just let it be. Otherwise, I thought it was good stuff for a teaser.

Thats great, but I think this poster above said it best, "start with the making the perfect game on the field before you start adding things like this." Exactly.. I guess thats what baffles me the most is how can the Dev's continue adding things like gimmicks every year instead of focusing on whats most important, and thats making the game play feal right and realistic?? I don't get it..

And yeah we can say well at least they are headed in the right direction, well thats fine but my concern is how long its taking to get where they are headed.. So far they have been headed in the right direction for 6+ years now.. Whats sad is that NCAA is truley looking like they finally are getting there and they have always been behind Madden.. whats wrong with that picture?? wow.
I'm just curious, what did you find gimmicky about the teaser video besides MUT? Custom Play Books, TV Style Presentation, the 3d grass like NCAA has? A lot of people have been clamoring for Custom Playbooks and TV Style Presentation for awhile, including myself.

If 1 of the new features is TV-style presentation, I hope its actual TV style presentation, and not what EA/Tiburon thinks is TV-style presentation. Which is what we have always gotten.

The Bottom line is instead of them adding things why don't they just focus on fixing the real issue and thats gameplay?? That was my main concern, not so much features and gimmicks.. It's like Adambroski said, "it's going to take some time".. Well it's going to continue taking time if they continue added things and not focus on fixing the core gameplay.. idk, why is it so hard to understand??
Why is it so hard to understand that there wasn't nearly enough actual gameplay shown in a TEASER to make that judgment?

HAHA that is hilarious. I agree Im not really into what Ea sports thinks is a football broadcast. Those replays in M11 were awesome but Ncaa looked awful.

It's a teaser to show some areas of focus this year...there is other info out there if you look...

Seriously man...whats is there to complain about this early in the year? (When it comes to M12?) Most of this info seems like what we've been asking for...and not much has been confirmed yet...and all this focuses on the gameplay...so idk

Here's what I'm talking about, it happens just before the custom playbook video comes up:

I love that last year, all they focused on was gameplay and people were like
"OMGZORS WE WANT FEATURES AND WHAT ABOUT FRANCHISE MODE!!!????"

Now, they say they are doing more features, enhancements to modes, and redesigning franchise mode and now of course its all
"THey need to focus ONLY ON GAMEPLAY. WHat is wrong with them?!"

I cant wait for Madden.
Im not even a franchise guy, but I just like what I saw with the foot planting and supposed 3d grass.

I'm in the gameplay camp. No amount of presentation, player tendencies etc. will make any difference if they don't address gameplay. I'm mean why would you want any RB to run out of bounce with the current state of gameplay? You'll most likely get a forward falling animation if you run into defenders. The reason why player tendencies works so well in, say, FIFA 11 is because they've implemented it on top of really solid gameplay.

And last year they didn't focus solely on gameplay. The biggest marketing gimmick last year was GameFlow/GamePlanning. And while they might have addressed Run Blocking AI, it was back to status quo as soon as the blocking reached the second level. And sideline catches wasn't a new gameplay feature, it was just the first year it seemed to work. Etc. Etc.

From the teaser (the two field goal attempts) the OL/DL interaction looks exactly the same as previous years. People morph into 1-on-1 animations (in the second video - on the left side - you can clearly see a player being morphed several feet into a defender) and a single player is left untouched, so he can attempt to block the field goal. Additionally, if you look at the surprise onside kick, it looks like the diving animation is motion shifting the defender out of the way, showing absolutely no respect for momentum.

The only thing I'm left "reassured" of after watching the teaser is that Tiburon probably won't be addressing major gameplay concerns - otherwise they would have shown some tackles and/or proper OL/DL interactions in the teaser.

I wonder if custom playbooks will work for online franchise?

I'm torn on weather or not I want them to...

On one hand, it would be cool to bring your favorite plays and formations online and compete vs others in your online chise.

On the other hand, I don't feel like defending the same 5 or 6 money plays from the different playbooks all game long...

That's the only iffy part to me. I'm not much of an online gamer, but if by chance they do allow them online, I'm lucky enough to know a bunch of sim gamers. Hopefully you do as well.

Wow, I agree with this 100%. Great post dude! Broski did say they can't show much new game play currently, so I hope that was just features on the old M11 game. So now, those things won't happen when they show the M12 game play. Can't wait until the game play blog, and I really hope there is MANY crucial additions on it, especially the ones you named above.

Well I guess no matter who you are. No one is going to be ever happy with madden totally. No matter what they do to the game. People want them to focus on different things every year. But for me if the gameplay is solid this year and franchise mode is improved alot more then it has in past years and presentation is much better this year. Then I'm going to be happy. Everyone has their opinion on what they want year after year and everyone changes their mind year in and year out. That's just human nature I guess. Overall like Ian Cummings has said in the past. They can't make everyone happy and that is totally true. I guess you take what info they give us and go with it and buy the game if you feel it is worth buying or don't buy it at all. I feel this going to be a real good year for madden. Franchise mode will be much better and presentation will be much improved from last year. Overall I'm looking forward to the info coming up in the next few months.

You can say that about the previous yrs, but you can't guarantee 12 will be the same.

None of us can guarantee what 12 has in store for us, we can speculate all we want to.

As Adembroski said, they can't show game play now in it's current state or they would have nothing to show.

By the way, to answer your question about game play, I didn't see game play in a 35 second teaser video and wasn't expecting any.
