I know. I played my last game of MLB 10 yesterday.

Same with me. I don't like the way they did analog pitching, but I do like the way they did batting.

I think I might.
I barely ever used it last year (went with classic), but since you can now move the pitch meter around, I will give it a shot. I want to keep my eyes at the strike zone when pitching, so if I put the meter near it it could work. If not, I'll probably use Classic again (if I decide to not use Analog Pitching, that is).

Guys, please use the discussion thread if you want to have a back and forth on what type of pitching/hitting model you will use.

Thanks.

From what I can tell from the demo it doesn't look like much settings adjustments will be needed. This game plays great as-is.
Even pitch speed at default is fine with me and I am usually the first one to turn that all the way to 0.

I agree it plays pretty good but baseball is a game about streaks/slumps etc... need a much bigger pool of data to decide it plays right.
I play at least 30 games before starting any tweaking. Then another 30 is for (Usually) final settings. After that it's game on no matter what.

EDIT: Sorry for the reply... Impressions only...!!
I'm just saying for a demo to play that good the retail version can only be as good if not better.

I never said it was hard, I said it doesn't make sense. My timing is always perfect but the PCI the computer controls is off. That doesn't make it harder it just rewards you less for doing what you were supposed to do. Why bother with guess pitch if the PCI doesn't go where you said to guess? All you have to do is use the regular hitting and you are rewarded 100 times more. They said this feature was years in the making and now it's great, yet I see nothing special about it at all. Waste of time. Shoulda used that time getting to learn the rules or physics of how balls fly off bats.

You are wrong about the PCI...if you are using pure analog.

Turn it on in the gameplay options screen. You aim up and to the left, the PCI goes left. You aim it up and to the right, the PCI goes right...etc, etc.

Now, if you are referring to the PCI being whacky vertically, than the issue is not programming. It's your timing.

I REALLY like that it's possible to tell what type of swing the AI takes this year, via the pop-up swing analysis. The PCI size is so different between contact to normal to power that it's extremely obvious.

And, oh yes - it definitely takes power swings. Hamilton just blasted an opposite field shot off my Lincecum and his PCI wasn't any bigger than the lower third of the strike zone. And his is on the high end - some guys don't get a PCI much bigger than the ball's red dot when they power swing!

I've said it before, but I love seeing little hints of how the AI works like this. When it swings for power, for contact, etc. This one came on a 3-1 count so it was a pretty obvious power swinging situation - even I'd use it there.

I've been very hard on the commentary...I take it all back.

I thought it'd be the disjointed drivel of years past. Now, Vasger...V and Karros actually sound like they're talking to each other at times. Especially when they talk about specific plaers like Timmy Lincecum and so on.

Well done. I hope there's a wealth of comments more than that.

Far as gameplay goes, I just can't get the hang of analog pitching. Every pitch is either right down the middle or ball. I cna't paint the corners or anything. Hitting is...well...hit or miss with me. Throwing works alright, but I'll probably continue to be a button player.

The demo looks really good... San Fran's park looks awesome! I had MLB '09, didn't buy MLB '10 cuz I wanted to keep playing RTTS and finish some careers... So the difference for me from '09 to '11 is dramatic. The lighting looks really good... so much more vibrant and alive than '09. I like the gameplay, as it is still pretty familiar. I LOVE the analog pitching.. picked that up fairly quickly, and you really do get some satisfaction out of throwing the pitch exactly where you want to, though it is not easy to do that. I've only played 2 4-inning games so far, so not a ton of experience yet - but I'm not feeling the analog batting so far. I think I can get into it, but it's going to take some time. I struck out 7 times in 12 at bats lol. The fielding is fine. I'm ok with the analog fielding, though it felt a little slow on the throws. Overall, this looks great. I can't wait to get the retail version.

I have to admit I´m not convinced that I will stick to analog hitting. That I suck at it is one thing, but I think that the concept will not convince me for the long run. I don't think the Analog Hitting tutorial misses on the left and right movement. It doesn't seem to be a factor. I know from Tiger Woods Golf that my stick movement is pretty solid when it comes to making a straight down and up movement. When I make the same movement in MLB 11 sometimes the pci is on the left or on the right side, sometimes in the middle. So I have to learn when to start the stride and improve the timing when to push the stick up. But basically that`s it. If the ball is low or high, left or right it is the same motion. I find the old zone hitting much more rewarding. I have to decide if it will be a low or a high ball, inside or outside. Then I have to recognize if it is a offspeed pitch or a fastball to get the timing right. If all these things happen...swoosh..I make a good hit and I know that I have beaten the pitcher. Juts pushing a stick down and up with the right timing doesn't give me the feeling that I fully controlles the pitch. Also, with zone hitting if I wait for a certain pitch in a certain zone and the ball is aon the way I know from the start that good things will happen. Analog hitting doesn't give me this feeling as I can`t control the pci, which somestimes end up in really odd spaces, even if my timing was "perfect".

On the other hand, analog pitching convences me. I am still better with the meter pitching but I am pretty sure I will stick to the new control system.
The same with Analog fielding. Right now I make at least 2 errors every game and sometimes I just don`t know why it happens. But still I like the system and I am sure that I will learn how to controll my throws.

The rest of the game is solid as ever. I especially love the new camera angles (Cather 5!!). I never had better plate discipline (with zone hitting) than with this camera.

Game pre-ordered (with the new MLB-controller), can`t wait to start a career with the World Champions.

I forgot to mention one thing:

I've played MLB since the 2008 PS3-edition for at least 500 games. But one thing never happend before yesterday: A Rangers player hit a fast groundball between first and second base past my first basemen to the outfield. With the right fielder I threw the ball to first base and - PREMIERE - it landed in my players glove before the runner was on first base. Hilarious commentary: "How slow can you be!".

I am a year late but the Broadcast camera for fielding is just amazing.

OMG man.

Love the new camera choices, and how you can adjust the custom ones.

I just wish there was just a bit more flexibility in how much you can move them.

I've been playing around with a hitting cam as close to a "hitters eye" view and can come close but need about another 2 feet higher and foot horizontal plane.

Hard to explain maybe I'll post a pic when I can.

I am trying to figure this out. Can someone explain how the pitching works or lead me to a thread that has very good directions. Im so lost! If i choose a fast ball, i move the right stick down, and i want to get it near the line? Im so lost with this!! I keep throwing ball after ball! Thanks!

My iTouch won't allow me to do a search, but search something like "community day impressions" and read through Nemesis_04's tutorial/feedback.

If you can't find it, PM me and I'll get back to you when I have more time.

Well I deleted the demo. Ready for retail. Can't wait!
