I'm not a Rangers fan (well, not a Texas Rangers fan-lol) but CJ Wilson led the AL in walks last season with 93.
Jonathan Sanchez led MLB with 96.

Anyway, back to the demo impressions.
I hit a little swinging bunt out in front of the plate with Tejada. The Texas catcher (whose name I cant remember), rather than throw the ball having no chance of getting the out, faked a throw and just held the ball.

I feel I'm actually getting the hang of analog hitting. I spent the last 5 or 6 games switching back and forth so I could just bat and I feel my timing is getting better.
I then tried a game earlier where I just pitched and didn't have as much success. I got rocked by both teams.

I didn't really know where to put this so I'll put it here. I'm hoping this year they fixed some framerate issues I (and some others) encountered last year. Day games were fine, except for some places like Nationals Park, but during night games, the game got really hitchy. Maybe it was just my TV, but hopefully they got that fixed.

I would like to see what others thought of the new player models. To me, they look strange again, for some reason SCEA can't do elbows, wrists, and shoulders. The models look like all they did was stretch the arms and too much so. The first base ump looks like snaggletooth from star wars. I can't understand why they have such a hard time with the player models

Just a minor thing, but I see that the dropped ball four=error charged to the catcher bug is still in there. Don't know if they can fix that or not.

Anyway, I'm super jealous of these people getting the game early. Can't wait for tuesday to pick up the game, a new controller, and jump into a practice season.

I would have bought this if it was nothing more than a roster update, so the improvements I'm seeing in the demo, along with the claim of improved trade logic, bullpen usage, ect., have me very excited about tearing the wrap off this bad boy.

I have been playing the Show now for about two and a half years and have never thrown a no-hitter. Well I just got done playing a game in the demo and you will never guess what I did.....

It was funny because I was struggling scoring but as the game got later and later I almost didn't want to score so I could get it haha. I ended up hitting a game winning double with Cody Ross to acquire my first ever no hitter, that just happened to be in a demo haha.

Here's proof

I can't remember the last time I was this excited for a baseball video game. I loved the last 3 iterations of The Show, but this seems like a new game with analog controls. I've bumped up to HoF hitting just to see the difference and I find that I (personally) am more locked in at the plate - I'm working the count better and get much better contact, but I keep hitting right at people. I'm also finding that I CANNOT play this game when people are around because I will easily get distracted and start swinging at borderline pitches. SCEA really knocked it out of the park with the demo and I can only imagine the game is going to be so much better!

I tried adjusting every picture setting on my set but to no avail, I still can't tell them apart. What makes this so frustrating is that prior to MLB 10 the colors looked perfectly clear (on the same TV with the same settings - 60" Sony 'TrueHD' XBR2).

I could have sworn that someone who went to this year's CD event confirmed that the pitch review colors had been tweaked and are easier to read this year. Perhaps the adjustment was made after the build that was used for the demo. I truly hope that this is the case, because I use that 'pitch review' feature during every at bat in every game I play, so the indistinguishable colors were a constant source of annoyance for me last year.

Just to be clear, I realize that for whatever reason not everyone is experiencing this problem, so no need for the obligatory "the colors look fine to me" replies (not trying to be snarky, it's just that every time I read or write a post about this, it's always followed by these same responses. If it's not a problem for you, that's great!). The fact remains that obviously this IS a real issue that many players are seeing so something had to have been changed in 2010 that created the problem.
Same here, brought this up numerous times. I think the problem is that it looks perfectly fine on the Sony sets they're testing the game on (so what the CD guys saw may not hold up for what we see on our sets). For me the coulours were spot on up untill '10 came around.

I hope they can look into it because I use that feature a lot but now it has almost got to the point I can only use it for location and not for pitch type.

While we're on the subject in the 'select' screen to check the hot and cold zones the red and blue also look like there is a blur over them. Not as bad as the pitch history but obvious not that clear as it should be.

Both these colour changes happened from The Show 09 to 10. Maybe that helps.

I'll try to take some screens when I get home tonight.

Thanks.

WOW. At first I was skeptical, as I didn't play MLB 10: The Show all that much compared to 08 and 09. But the demo is AWESOME.

A couple things I really liked:
- The new player model system is great! It really shows on someone like Sandoval.
- I was playing as the Rangers, and I hit a pop up into foul territory on the third base side... Sandoval went over but it seemed like it was going to drop just out of his reach. He reached over the rail and caught it! I am not sure if this was in last year, but I never saw it.

ALSO, I am seeing tons of posts about the analog fielding system and throwing errors. After five games or so, I have not made a single throwing error. Am I missing something? I am playing with default settings. It seems to me like you just point to the base you are throwing to, correct?

Way to go SCEA! I am so excited. The demo just makes the wait worse! But I am hoping to get better at hitting by the time the game drops.

Agree 100%. i went down to veteran and had alot more success and still didnt feel like the difficulty dropped way off. Still challenging enough. i was having all kinds of issues on allstar.

I've played about 10 demo games with the settings on default and I haven't made a throwing error either...

I will qualify that by saying that I use AUTO fielding and Analog throwing...I just assumed that this combination was easier and that's why I wasn't seeing the throwing errors that others are.

I have a Sony 42" Bravia and cannot see the colors as well.. They are very lightly colored but it seems that it should be easier to see them more clearly.. If I remember, I thought it was changed after a patch for MLB 10 last year.. Either way, hope this can be changed as it adds some brain activity for each at bat.. Love the demo.. I cannot stand to hear Karros say Bumgarner again though!

Not impressed... The analog controls stuff is not interesting to me at all. I tried it and thought it was arcade. The fielding/throwing analog thing is ridiculous... I have a feeling the only place this could be useful is when people are playing as themselves or as a player online and the people who have good controls will be the better players. I can understand that functionality when the game has that online capability down the line, but for now I am glad we have the old classic options.

I look forward to the new online functions and overall game-play.
