NBA Elite 11 News Post

Peter Moore just confirmed NBA Elite 11's delay on his blog:

Quote:
Over the past three years, EA SPORTS development teams have had a laser focus on creating titles packed with innovation and unsurpassed quality. The acclaim from fans and critics on most of our titles the past few years makes us proud and it also motivates us to keep getting better.

This year, we set extremely ambitious goals for our new franchise, NBA ELITE. We are creating a game that will introduce several breakthrough features that have been missing from the basketball genre. Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month’s launch. We are going to keep working until we’re certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience.

Forget sig stuff but lets put in off the backboard dunks
I'm sorry but that is hilarious.

It's so damn true too. From gameplay to presentation to "soul," EA heard a lot of what needs to be there during my time there.

But they are seriously working on things as we speak. We shall see what comes from this...

It's true but also unfair. I'm not a fan of their existence or execution, but off the backboard dunks was something the game had because they thought it was a cool little thing that was easy to add. Sig animations are a whole different thing.

This is just a combination of social media and downloadable demos.

I actually think they are on the right track, with the demo, it was cool, Now we just need to cancel madden.

Lol, let 2K take the little fans that EA pro basketball game still had. Long live 2K!!!

# 506 irishred002 @ 09/29/10 09:43 PM
now if only EA would have the kahunas to do this with some of there other coughfootballcough games we could see some innovation instead of hearing "we didn't have enough time to add this". oh wait, scratch that, that would be pointless because there's no competition there...

Okay Now This Is Good Because They Can Finally Make Thinqs Better Then 2K If They Really Put The Effort In
But Now That They're Postponing It Does That Mean That Every Year From Now On Nba Elite Will Be Released In March ? Because Usually It Takes Them A Full Year To Start & Finish . Well In This Case Lonqer. I Wonder If They Thought About It

I wouldn't say many areas. But it's all perception anyways, so whatever. Live 10 was solid. Something to keep building on.

Live 10 was far better than it's past titles but IMO not better than 2k10 & yes the demo for elite was garbage..if 2k were to ever get their hands on the Fiba league it would be over for live or elite....(whatever u want to call it) but if they come up with a worthy title I would try it.

Yeah if they fixed the fastbreak logic, I would put Live 10 back in the PS3 - otherwise I'll wait for Elite 12 (or whatever they call it) and I hope they don't waste their time trying to fix Elite 11 and shorten the development time for Elite 12 - they need the full 12 months and then some to get an acceptable product out -ideally they should have 12 months of development time, 3 months of beta testing (with a select group of testers from the community) and then another 3 months to fix any problems -18 months minimum - but I know the EA suits and the NBA license would never go for that.

Then only 6-7 months for the next iteration? not gonna work my friend

I dont understand how in this day and age of the internet and forum sites like OS. How is it a company can be so out of touch with the majority of their base consumer? I already brought up what NCAA did with NCAA 11 this year. They (after producing moderate to poor games every year this gen) finally polled their consumers and as a result delivered maybe their best work in franchise history.
Arrogance, avarice and in some respects contempt. (This does not apply to the developers who have my respect). Unfortunately this country is turning into one the most anti-consumer country in the world -but thats a discussion for another forum.

I honestly hardly remember. I do remember having games in double digit FB's but not every game.

What I do remember messing with is not only the FB awareness slider but also the one in the edit player and just upped them all the way.

I never liked their ratings updates so this doesnt excite me one bit.

I doubt they'll be paying for another patch so whatever you cant edit yourself you can forget it

I think this could have happened to madden if 2K was still in football, cause that game is no where near where it should be at this point.

What an **** turn of events.
Listen to what this fella said EA "You don't need gimmicks if you deliver great game play and atmosphere. The hype will be created by the consumer. "

Take the time to build a solid, realistic basketball simulation. Gimmicks and fluff should be put off until a proper foundation is built -otherwise just shut it down and concentrate on your other sport titles. Frustrating because the solution is very clear but is any one at EA listening. And enough with the ELite "controls" - you can't properly implement those controls when the foundation is so flawed.

Elite strikes me as a game made by people with limited knowledge of the sport...the game focuses on the most rudimentary parts of the game (dribbling, crossovers, shooting) and ignores the more complex parts of the game (strategy, AI, etc.)...this leads me to believe that there is not a lot of real basketball knowledge coming from Elite's leaders...i have a hard time believing true basketball fans could've produced a game like Elite.

So, maybe one of their first steps should be to get a real basketball person in there to make sure everything is working like real basketball and to flesh out the AI and strategy so it is more authentic.
EA pay attention to this post.

And that's another thing, those sliders did absolutely nothing - if they put them in make them actually work

Those individual player edit sliders worked

ea went "wong" when they let go of wang.

I wonder if they'll only have a small group of people working on '11, and the rest of the staff start on '12??? What do you guys think???
