NBA Elite 11 News Post

Peter Moore just confirmed NBA Elite 11's delay on his blog:

Quote:
Over the past three years, EA SPORTS development teams have had a laser focus on creating titles packed with innovation and unsurpassed quality. The acclaim from fans and critics on most of our titles the past few years makes us proud and it also motivates us to keep getting better.

This year, we set extremely ambitious goals for our new franchise, NBA ELITE. We are creating a game that will introduce several breakthrough features that have been missing from the basketball genre. Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month’s launch. We are going to keep working until we’re certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience.

Clark's not bad.....it's just that he's no Mike Breem or what ever his last name is. That man along with Mark and Jeff Van gets it done..

This way EA can recover some money from Elite and still sell it at its normal October release date next year without too many people screaming about two $60 games in a 6mo span. To maximize exposure for both franchises they could throw a free DLC card for the "Elite Championship Preview" in with every copy of NBA Jam.

Anyway, that is just my though. Still this is a good move by EA. Elite was not ready for prime time.

Including free roster updates for Live 2010 is a nice idea as well. Being able to pick Live 2010 up at bargain prices know you are going to get 2011 updates will prove more successful against 2K11 than Elite ever would have.

Releasing NBA Jam as a stand alone title on all platforms is also a no brainer. Why spend all the time making it for the 360/PS3 just to give it away.

Oh, and now can we laugh at all the fanboys who went bat **** crazy about how good Elite was compared to the competition? Even EA says its no good so stop defending it.
Great idea, I say keep updating Live 2010, release Elite DLC (like you mention, this will be like the Bulls vs games)

then release NBA Elite '12 in oct

That Elite DLC would sell like crazy during the playoffs...

They delayed that madden?? I think it was more like they canned it and the team who was working on it...
wasn't that team...VC who now puts out NBA 2k? I might be wrong but.... I think not.

If they follow that..... good bye NBA Elite/Live

keep team 2gether destroy this version of elite and start from scratch

Good move by EA their reasons for it may not be completely motivated by the community but I know we played a large role. It seems like they are most likely going to release the game early 2011.

And that's fine to me because what this game needed was more polish. I don't see too many changes happening from now to whenever they happen to release it but I do see the game being a more polished product.

Its still not going to please everybody but the extra time should please those fans that still wanted to play it. And maybe get a few more to hop on board if it plays better then the demo.

Now all they need to is do something about that 60$ price tag....

If Elite 11 comes out in just a few months, they won't be releasing a 12 anyway... that development cycle won't even get them out of the beta stage. If they release it next October however, I say let EA get some sales their way so they can stay competitive in the long run. You don't want them to shut down the title like SCEA had to.
At this point, I really hope EA does not release this game in the Winter or Spring and just waits till next October. I think another 1 year can help do wonders for this game. Live 10 had a lot of good thing going for it...........building off that base would have been the best here.

Was Elite built off a new engine or using a modified one based off of Live 10? This feels like a whole new engine to me and just baffles me that they would choose to rebuild yet again. I hope that they do not cancel their NBA franchise, I've had some fun times with Live over the years............hoping they drop the name Elite and go back to Live.

I'd like to see them add some realistic animations or atleast upgrade the animations from NBA live 10 into this game.

Throw in some SIG stuff and fix the AI

Maybe that can be done around Febuary who know's.....but those were the only issues i had with Elite it didn't look like basketball half the time.

Well it did but it was corny/goofy looking basketball..........LOL!

wow, they just saved their franchise

This competition is now officially 2K's to lose. If 2K11 lives up to the hype & there is no drop off in 12, EA may never recover. In today's market, unless you truly innovate, out of sight out of mind.

Well my knock about this situation was they knew the product was subpar and was trying to convince everyone "controls" was the key[its not the game its the user]. They were gonna let fans of the product spend 59.99 on an unfinished game. Its not a kudos to me for recalling the game, they should have never came out with a product like this in the 1st place imo. I think they were more afraid of reviewers/magazines killing this game more so "than what the fans wanted" b/c they were still trying to convince us to buy it smh. I think this backlash could hurt them more so than help in the long run...its called business integrity

I would like competition for all games ,but I'm not going to feel sorry for you in the end especially if you have been trying to screw me in the beginning

goodluck EA..just my honest rant

That's big news there. I think I may be able to find someone who will give me Live 10, so that'll be my "second game".

I still really like this move. I just wonder how the graphics will look on the new rookies.
Definitely pleased to see this.

For the best, in the long term.

I just dont understand why companies just dont release their games later.

Id rather have a finished product that comes out in mid to late november or December.

Do we really need an NBA game in October, when the NBA is off the Radar until after the superbowl? lol.

So, you can be certain they themselves had no idea this was coming / had nothing to do with the decision.

I am guessing the suits at EA got wind of unpublished reviews and saw a tsunami of 4/10 type reviews and realised the long term damage that type of score would do to the series.

There's no "wow, well done EA" here.......this is simply damage control.
That's what scares me. Despite the negative reactions, they still insist their stance. I know standing by what you believe in is good and all, but pride/stubbornness/ego got to take a backseat when the time calls for it. Nobody wants to rag on his/her own creation but c'mon, don't insult our intelligence by saying the game is this or that despite what we've seen otherwise.

Just like others have stated, this is an excellent move, good job elite. I'm not a elite player, but when i played the demo, it just didn't feel right. Plus, if you look at 2k11, it blows the current elite game out of the water. (hope that's not offensive). Anyway, this is very good news, and when they do bring it out, i'll buy it.

Hahaha, i hope my Youtube vid had something to do with it. Just search my name MrLux on Youtube.

Thats how I feel.

I know it makes some warm in fuzzy inside to think the suits over at EA said "You know what? The guys over at Operationsports.com werent too impressed with the demo, lets delay the release and put some more work into the game to address their concerns"

But I seriously doubt thats what happened. What I do know though, is that ReAn, Step etc. HAVE been listening to the community, and hopefully take that feedback back with them as they work on the new release

Once again I hope they release a wish/check list for the public to vote on for what they would like to see if not in 11.5 for 12. Like with NCAA let us choice the game we want instead of forcing their vision on us.

I dont mean to thump myself on the chest, but I got a couple of PMs from rEAnimator after I did my CPU AI video.....he said they were 'looking into some things', and I guess..umm...they are LOL.

While it is the 'right' thing to do, I do agree that they were more or less shamed into doing it.

I'm forgiving though, as long as the extra time is well spent.

# 260 djordan @ 09/27/10 10:35 PM
Why are people praising EA? WTF. I don't understand this. The game was trash from the gate. They need to scrap the engine and rebuild it from scratch. LOL @ "GOOD JOB EA"
