Peter Moore just confirmed NBA Elite 11's delay on his blog:
Quote:
Over the past three years, EA SPORTS development teams have had a laser focus on creating titles packed with innovation and unsurpassed quality. The acclaim from fans and critics on most of our titles the past few years makes us proud and it also motivates us to keep getting better.
This year, we set extremely ambitious goals for our new franchise, NBA ELITE. We are creating a game that will introduce several breakthrough features that have been missing from the basketball genre. Unfortunately, NBA ELITE 11 is not yet ready and we have made a decision to delay next month’s launch. We are going to keep working until we’re certain we can deliver a breakthrough basketball experience.
Very very good move and this instills a lot of confidence in EA from me that they are trying to please the customer as opposed to tricking the customer. I haven't bought an EA basketball game in five years now. Looking forward to seeing what they bring to the table next year.
Seriously, kudos to them for this move.
Do you really think EA is doing this because it's the right thing? Or because so many people had so many bad things to say and they feel like putting it out would cost them more in poor sells then delaying or cancelling?
EA should do what they usually do when they have an inferior game....get an exclusive licencse. They did it with Madden when NFL2k5 was clearly a better game. If you can't beat em', buy 'em out.
You really don't know what you're talking about....
Come on everyone.....this may be a good move by EA but man....WTF! This game sucked so bad they had to cancel this sh**!!! LOL
I mean to me this is hilarious. I was gonna buy this game once the price dropped like I always do(I get 2k on release day....Live/elite later), but damn! This is just hilarious. Pair this along with the videos on Youtube....we have a comedy.

I kind of echo this sentiment as well. I don't want to go overboard in praising EA, they obviously had some numbers which told them that the sales were not going to be good at all, and possibly do more harm than good. Only question is why didn't they just take this year off altogether and come back w/ Elite 12, but I guess that's MMQBing.
They can then build a better Live 12 with more animations, give a different body build for players, try to make each player feel individual, signature moves & shots, put more commentary (I know, didn't get to hear the full commentary), just go all out!
hello im just wondering because i pre order already the game on wallmart last couple of weeks, do wallmart gonna ship to me the not updated Elite 11 or i can still get the game nxt year? thanks hope anyone can reply.
Wal Mart will not be shipping out any copies for now as the game is delayed. I will have to look into your pre-order if it means it will transfer over to next year. When I get that info I will let you know.
I think you guys missed the point of my post. I think rEAnimator has been one of the most honest dev. since I started following the development of games. ,BUT There is no way this game would be getting delayed months if it was up to par. You guys have any idea how much money they are losing delaying this game? So either he was lying or his opinion of what a good basketball game is completely off. Something is really wrong if the Head of EA has to come out and basically issue an apology and delay the game. There is no way you can tell me a game that is so bad it needs to be delayed a week before release is good enough to come here and endorse. Sorry but somebody is wrong here.
Trust me, I hear ya. I'm as skeptical as the next guy.I just think he may be a little biased because he worked on the game. I really believe he thought it was a good game.
I applaud EA for making this move. It takes a lot of stones to delay a game 2 weeks before it is set to hit stores. The game clearly wasn't ready for primetime (no offense to the developers, I know you guys worked hard but rebuilding a game takes time).
I think the extra time will help refine the controls, perhaps sharpen up the graphics and fix other issues. And, if EA decides to just morph Elite 11 into Elite 12, I'd have no problem with that, either.
They know they can't hang with 2k so like in music if you suck the vp's push your album back. Not to bash but EA really need to stop making bball games same as there racing. Just put more development into madden just my opinion.
Thats a good move. They promised so much, but they really need to do a complete overhaul of their graphics. The style of the game looks no different than it did with NBA Live 03 or NBA Live 05.
If they really want to take it to 2K, they will have to make those upgrades. Hopefully the game can be ready by January.
This is crazy! I'm glad EA decided to go back to the drawing board with their game....i'm a die hard 2k fan but i love competition and I wouldn't mind playing Elite either...we'll see what transpires in the coming months for EA
IMO, if they don't make some fundamental changes concerning their design design decisions and in implementing those design decisions then in won't matter how much time they spend developing the game. They'll never have anything more then a fair game at best.
If they're still focused on growing the market/bringing in new casual bball gamers, or redoubling their marketing efforts or emphasizing their "Brand", then IMO, they'll fail miserably.
The question is, are they still committed to making a sim-oriented NBA game? It not, they everything else is moot. If so, they they can't make decisions like the removal of gathers, and the addition of super verticals, and rocket dunks. None of those poor choices should have ever survived the first iteration.
I don't have faith that the individuals in positions of leadership understand what making a great NBA game entails
Good Move on EA's part. Keep the controls and make the environments and players more realistic. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do this with more games. It is cool the will give free roster updates. 2k should do this with the MLB series...
