Check out the latest NBA 2K11 Developer Insight, discussing the Association.

Quote:
"Over the past few years, we have implemented some very successful features in NBA.com, Player Roles, Player Ambitions, Player Morale, Player Personalities, and so on. I feel like these additions have defined the 2K Association experience. Moving forward, I would like The Association to be defined by something completely different, and that’s the smartest AI of any franchise mode across all sports titles.

To achieve this goal, the main focus for us this year has been to completely re-write the underlying logic that drives the mode, along with adding new systems that will help the AI to make the smartest decisions possible at all times. Every time the CPU makes a move, they are making it for a very precise reason. It may not be completely evident to you at first as they often think two, three, even four steps ahead, but they are always thinking, always assessing. They have brains this year folks; here is how we did it…"

Sounds real promising.
I hope this plays out like it should and we don't see any big issues with this mode.

Wow, we are definitely in it for this year. How could 2k get any better than this?

It all sounds awesome and I cannot wait to try it out! I am tempering my expectations though for the AI logic, it sounds too good to be true.

Damn! That was a long read but worthy of my time.

Hopefully, everything from the Insight comes into realization.

I'm glad we can split the MLE this year. Just wondering if they added other exceptions like Veteran's Minimum and Biannual Exception. Perhaps, not since SimBaller didn't mention it but that's no biggie for me. I wonder if they made sure that teams who are under the Salary Cap once the FA signing period comes don't have MLE's because that's what's happening in real life (See 2010 Miami Heat).

And by the way, nice touch on the NBA.com's interface.

And I remember coolcras mentioning about 2K confirming the ability to sync roster files with the Association but SimBaller didn't mention it. That means coolcras got a wrong info, correct?

Must buy!!
"As the user, you have the ability to stop the draft at any point to try and trade for the current pick (CPU teams will be offering you as well during the draft)."

this is gonna be the nfl 2k5 of basketball, lets do a recap

*basically fixed every gripe with 2k10
*revamped(fixed) controls
*added a freakin micheal jordan mode
*all-new myplayer mode
*fixed all the problems in association while adding alot
*new playcalling system
*better presentation across the board
*extremely intelligent AI
*listened to the community(to me the most important)

all thats left to make it a full sweep is the online(i dont play as much). Which they said they were working on and testing stability a few weeks ago

Already a guaranteed buy by me, but I can't be too hyped up for the association improvements until I see them in action. Wish they would simulate a couple of seasons and show us all the player/team stats, rookies, transactions, signings, injuries, etc., but that's probably asking for a bit much.

Wow. Just Wow. This game has the potential to be THE best sports game to ever hit the market. The new AI logic has me drooling. And not to mention this being confirmed: -

Classic Teams:
I’ve seen so much discussion on this in the forums despite us previously confirming this. Yes, you absolutely can take our classic teams into Association. This means you can bring any of Jordan’s Bulls into the league. Equally as fun I have found is to bring in the Malone/Stockton Jazz and the Ewing Knicks alongside the Jordan teams. It’s an interesting wrinkle to the Association formula that people in the office have been enjoying for months now!

C-A-N-N-O-T WAIT!

I LOVE the idea of the Player Finder. That's actually pretty freaking brilliant.

# 31 Ermolli @ 09/22/10 02:52 PM
Simply amazing, however I want to see how good the AI is in the game.

# 32 youvalss @ 09/22/10 02:52 PM
I'm not really into the Association mode, but this Insight was amazing!!! Way to go, 2K!

Beautiful! Now I can complete the Knicks' rebuilding project. Just under two weeks to go.

Agreed. People should not be saying the AI is great until they spend time with the retail copy.

And I am still concerned with the trade logic. I don't want to see the AI trading their bench guys just for the sake of trading.

Even if everything doesn't work perfectly, no one can complain about VC not addressing their concerns.

Paying off the remaining balance on my 2k11 pre order tomorrow after work I do this every year around this time but this year is the sweetest of them all 2k brought our visions to reality this year and for that I say thank you

Couldn't agree more. That is what makes 2k the GOAT in my opinion. When they address something they REALLY go after it and more. Absolutely incredible depth this year in Association.

Oh my word

I honestly might take a day off...

Oh my god!

I'm most excited for:

*The new trade logic/roster building
- No more stacking positions
- Players having different trade values to different teams
- Teams trading or not trading players to improve their specific goals and play styles.

* Find a player/trade (It's like I have Daryl Morey's stats team on hand)

* Draft day trades (though I too wanna know if you can trade draft rights)

* Splitting the MLE

* No more silhouettes

* Seeing playoff games matter more with dynamic attendance

* D-League actually having an effect on players development (this one is huge for me)

* Being able to turn off autosave finally.

* Improved sim stats

* Being able to track league wide player progression/regression

I am simply blown away by all this. This is going to be the longest 2 weeks ever. My only questions (which may have been answered) are:

1. Is dynamic attendance just a visual thing, or is it auditory as well. Does the crowd get louder as people file into the arena, and louder still for bigger games? What I mean is a packed house for the Heat-Bucks shouldn't be as loud as a packed house for the Heat-Lakers finals (in Miami). Though the crowd size may be the same, the intensity of the game makes the fans more amped up and rabid. This is a nitpicky thing, and if it's not in, that's fine. It will still be vastly improved from last year.

2. Has scouting been improved at all?

Regardless, this is a damn overhaul of the game mode I play most. I am way too excited and almost wish I wouldn't have read that because of how excited I am.
