Check out the latest NBA 2K11 Developer Insight, discussing the Association.

Quote:
"Over the past few years, we have implemented some very successful features in NBA.com, Player Roles, Player Ambitions, Player Morale, Player Personalities, and so on. I feel like these additions have defined the 2K Association experience. Moving forward, I would like The Association to be defined by something completely different, and that’s the smartest AI of any franchise mode across all sports titles.

To achieve this goal, the main focus for us this year has been to completely re-write the underlying logic that drives the mode, along with adding new systems that will help the AI to make the smartest decisions possible at all times. Every time the CPU makes a move, they are making it for a very precise reason. It may not be completely evident to you at first as they often think two, three, even four steps ahead, but they are always thinking, always assessing. They have brains this year folks; here is how we did it…"

I'm really hoping there is an difficulty level that is just right for me...

That is my only gripe with most video games....

If they have a default level where I lose to teams I should, or be nearly perfect to win... I can't complain at all...

I did notice one thing, I didn't see anything talking about scouting before the draft, I never felt you got enough info from how it is currently set up

I'm thinking back to a month ago when people wondered aloud whether this year's release would just be "2K10 with Michael Jordan". This is an absolute heap load of information, and it's all tremendous.

As JMood stated, even if some of this stuff doesn't work correctly, it's still going to be tough to say 2K is not addressing concerns. In fact, I feel they've added enough that in theory half of it could be broken, and I'd still be happy.

WOAAAH, this is unfreakincredible, it's just amazing.

I'm totally convinced the A.I will work as intended due to the Team States logic. I remember I suggesting something among the lines a couple of years ago to Erik (Team Roles), and man, did he (and the whole team) deliver?

The Association sounds like THE franchise mode to play, it sounds so complete, full of depth and polished. While reading the insight I kept wondering if some stuff was going to be added, and the text just kept delivering. I'm super lucky and happy that basketball is my favorite sport.

Just look at how the gameplay, the playcalling, the My Player, Association modes are all improved, add all that to Freakin Jordan, classic teams, improved presentation... and ALL of the other stuff I can't recall due to excitement... wow.

Not only they fixed all of 2K10's issues, they also added a lot of stuff that simply puts this game in heavenly status.

We are really lucky to have such a Developing Team working their butts to make a game we love better and better.

Thanks for listening to the community.

SimBaller, Beluba, 2k team, I am completely sold.

Un-Freaking believable...

I'm at a loss for words with all these improvements. That Thunder trade for J-Rich got me even more hyped because it was the A.I. doing it and it makes so much sense!

Just please October 5th, please for the love of god hurry up

One thing that really irked me was seeing steve nash and a few others retire after such high level of play.... Will players still retire at a certain age even if they are playing elite level basketball?

wow, this game sounds absolutely siiiiick, i have been looking for this kind of basketball game for a long long time, it sounds like this association mode might even surpass mlb the shows franchise mode, so much stuff implemented to association mode this year makes me feel like a little kid waiting for christmas i might have to take off work on the 5th.. haha congrats to all nba 2k11 dev's for really working their tails off to put out a good product this year, no go home and take some much needed vacation and family time because you guys did some great work!!!

Yeah this is gonna be great for me trying to make my Knicks a contender. I can find players suited for exactly how I play.

My only question at this point (that I didn't even think about until the insight mentioned the D-League): Will D-League generic players be editable this season?

"As you guys can see, we’ve put a lot of work into The Association this year. So many developers out there tend to ignore their franchise modes for years on end."

Ouch. 2k just landed a stinging blow to someone.

I felt like I was stealing when i put the full 65 on it, like i still owe them money(which is a good thing). To the 2k devs, I am truly happy to see a company who actually looks out for its customer and that truly puts in its best effort and listens(very rare).

If this doesn't get sports game of the yr than i will sue the video game websites and shows!!!!!!!!!!!!

Very impressive, if all this works smoothly and nothing is broken this game has it all. They set the bar so high with 2k11 i'd hate to be the competition.

Color me happy! Everything sounds great and i cant wait to get this game home and put it through its paces.

Good work 2k!!

Seems like they are setting up the perfect "owner" mode from madden 06 for next yr. After all these changes I'm trying to think about where could they possibly take this next yr to up the ante again. What do you guys think?

I can't believe how many improvements were made in just a one-year cycle. 2K11 is gonna be really hard to improve upon, but knowing how this developing team works, it's all possible.

# 60 Shelb @ 09/22/10 03:14 PM
What about proper contracts? Will I still be forced to low ball a veteran because real vet minimum contracts aren't in? Bi-Annual Exemption and all the other contract rules? I'm guessing not but were very fixable.

Will coaches and players retire way too early? Will there be an unmovable cap on coaching staff again? Still a lot more to address.

Loving what I hear but there's still some real fixable problems.
