Check out the latest NBA 2K11 Developer Insight, discussing the Association.

Quote:
"Over the past few years, we have implemented some very successful features in NBA.com, Player Roles, Player Ambitions, Player Morale, Player Personalities, and so on. I feel like these additions have defined the 2K Association experience. Moving forward, I would like The Association to be defined by something completely different, and that’s the smartest AI of any franchise mode across all sports titles.

To achieve this goal, the main focus for us this year has been to completely re-write the underlying logic that drives the mode, along with adding new systems that will help the AI to make the smartest decisions possible at all times. Every time the CPU makes a move, they are making it for a very precise reason. It may not be completely evident to you at first as they often think two, three, even four steps ahead, but they are always thinking, always assessing. They have brains this year folks; here is how we did it…"

This simply is just too much information to process right now. Association sounds absolutely top-notch. I hope that it is refined and there won't be a "game-killer" that has to be patched. The little things section just KEPT GOING. Oh my god, The Show '10 will FINALLY get a break when this game comes out. I'm gonna have some work to do with my Rockets.

It seems as though we may not need to control 30 teams any more

Man, you can really tell that 2K listens to their fans year in and year out. A lot of these additions, tweaks, etc have been community demanded. It's a beautiful thing where we win and 2K wins by keeping loyal customers and sales by listening.

I really wish every development team would really look at NBA 2k and MLB: The Show when it comes to how listening to your fan base makes your game better and increases profits. I'd bet that 2K is going to outsell every previous 2k basketball title by a large margin this year.

My favorite small additions:

- Intra-Squad Scrimmages: Another new feature this year is the ability to run Intra-Squad Scrimmages with your team. Here, we pit the starting 5 against the best of your bench players. You can choose to run with the starters or with the bench unit. This is a great way to get some time with some of your lesser talent in a ‘game’ situation without having to worry about Ls piling up in the loss column.

- D-League Utilization: CPU teams will now be making effective use of the NBA D-League this year. They will be sending down young players who aren’t getting enough playing time to ensure they continue to develop. Remember, the more playing time young players get, the better the chance they have of reaching their full potential. If you draft a player and stash him on your bench for a few years, his development will take a significant hit. Give your players every opportunity to develop into all they can be!

I wish we could edit D-League rosters to real players. That's about the only thing I can really gripe about right now. I'd say 1 gripe, pre-release, for me is a pretty incredible accomplishment.

Man!!!!!! Games like NBA 2K, The Show, FIFA, and NHL are really going above and beyond to be as deep as possible with their sports games. I hope the Madden team is reading.

Every time it seems like these top notch sports games are out of ideas...they blow it off the charts even more. Especially The Show and NBA 2K!!!

Does the league pass sign in the middle hold any significance, like maybe a nightly wrap up show or is it just advertising?

- Classic Teams: I’ve seen so much discussion on this in the forums despite us previously confirming this. Yes, you absolutely can take our classic teams into Association. This means you can bring any of Jordan’s Bulls into the league. Equally as fun I have found is to bring in the Malone/Stockton Jazz and the Ewing Knicks alongside the Jordan teams. It’s an interesting wrinkle to the Association formula that people in the office have been enjoying for months now!

Heaven! Can't wait to have a classic teams legacy.

as a 2k player that has never really messed with association the features sound pretty nice - i might have to check it out this year.

on that note, can we get some rating info and the online insight? lol. thats my bread and butter right there.

They can't be serious! Are they seriously making the game this good!? How am I supposed to get anything else done!?

Firstly this quote caught my eye ''When teams are signing players in both in-season and offseason''...im guessing we can finally extend a players contract during the season? if so im happy enough
The team and roster building is a thing of genius to be honest the fact that spomething so simple could have such an impact on the game (in my opinion) is niiiiicccceee
The trading values, player logic and signing logic sound really really sweet man the fact that they have found a way to add more depth and realism to this part of the association is impressive to put it modestly, really can't wait to see what kind of trades ill be presented with during my run with the Hornets
Like the way that they seriously strengthened what was for me the weakest part of the offeseason (the draft) it sounds and looks great, and the added realism of drafty day trades is a nice quirk ;P
My favourite part of the whole insight though is the player finder (ala the Fifa series) and the trade finder (ala madden) jusssst wooow this will be an absolute godsend man can't wait to get stuck into it ;P
Lastly, loving the ''Intra-squad scrimmages'......
All in all i don't know if Jordan will see much action on my console, This years association has taken it to another level :;P

Man that's a lot of changes!

Now I want to see about the NBA Today 2.0.

And to anyone who said this will be NBA 2K10.5? This is more like NBA 2K12!

Wow! This is what I imagined when this generation of systems were announced.

Just an advertisement of sorts. It was there last season. In a way you have league pass in your association with the ability to play/watch every game.

Do you plan on trying to fill every slot w/ a Classic team? I've thought about it, and just subbing in one seems like it would be a one season type thing. With every slot filled, it would seem like it would be more fun going through a series of seasons.

On second thought, do we even know the exact number of classic teams in 2k11?

This insight has been the insight I've been most waiting for and it didn't disappoint. I passed out about half through and passed out again before the end. Absolutely amazing.

If only EA could do this with NHL and Madden. Well, they can, they just don't want to.
