With today being the North American release date (and Steam ), lets use this topic for impressions for all 3 platforms. Please limit this to impressions and questions about the game.

UPDATE: Apparently the console version is not being released until tomorrow or even as late as Thursday for some. For those who purchased the PC version off of steam, it has been released and will be unlocked within 2.5 hours to play. I have the game already downloaded on my system, just waiting for the unlock. I will do my best with impressions as soon as the game is unlocked on my PC.

I'm starting to wonder if they pressed two different codes for this game.

Seriously. Mine is broken. Bad.

Besides the pit problem I have had the following issues. Note that I play each race 100% length and AI set to medium.

Constantly getting hit with penalties even though it's not even close to being my fault. An AI car barely touches mine and POOF! I get a 10 second penalty.

I have been "stuck" in position from start to finish. Meaning, I start at 12th position starting the race and finish 12th. EVEN after I stopped and pulled over off the track and let cars whiz by. WT...? I sit there for 10 minutes and yet I retain my 12th position?

If you use fuel sim "On" then you will start with a full tank while the rest of the cars don't. They leave your butt behind in a flash and you can never catch up. They are light and you are heavy

AI cars not pitting. Not ONCE in a 100% length race! Obviously you're screwed because you do have to pit.

Driver disappearing. Happened a few times. Weird.

And this kills me- This is from someone on the CM's website. He observed this, among many others including myself:

"The cars you see running, other than you, aren't your opponents. They are there just for fill. In qualifying, the times you see in your monitor, haven't been run by these other cars, they're computer generated in the background. This is why there's no replay to see AI laps, or anything like that. In race as well, the other cars only show up to your screen when you're close - other times there's just computer generated lap times for them running around."

The AI cars performance is phony. Big time.

I have NEVER in my 30 years of gaming experienced a game so full of bugs/glitches. Never. I've had more than my share of pathetic games but this game ...this game seems like NO ONE tested it. EVER!

And I thought EA was bad. lol

I am seriously bummed. So much promise yet we get this? Wow...

I can't wait to hear what Codemasters does with this fiasco. Supposedly the developers have called an emergency meeting for Monday. Emergency indeed

I've put this game down. I won't be playing it again until it's patched. It's doing my head in all these bugs and glitches.

Bring on NBA 2K11.

I'm disappointed. This is really nothing better than an F1 hot lap competition.

With all the bugs present in the game, it's another example of a publisher clearly not testing a game before it was released. Not having a demo should have been our first clue. There's no way that some (if not most) of these bugs were not known before the release. Just another publisher pushing out a game when it's not done, and planing on patching it at a later date (if it sells well enough).

It's sad, because this really has potential. The tracks are well done, the cars drive reasonably well....but that's about it. Everything else is either broken or half finished. I guess we were suckered in by the "passion" these guys had for the sport and reading about how they captured the feel of F1 and the meticulous detail they supposedly were putting into the game.

I really feel like this is another company putting out a half-assed effort and then explaining it away as "It's our first year of development, we'll do much better next year".

Is this bug issue a console thing, because I got the PC, and honestly not having these issues.

Can someone confirm if this is just PS3/360 issue?

I'm really enjoying the PC version and the game is great so far to me.

been playing this game all day the last few days and haven't run into any of the strange bugs/glitches that you guys have been having....

so far, i'm just enjoying being back in an F1 car! Yes, the game definitely has some flaws, but I think I will still enjoy this game even before it gets patched.

I don't get to play a whole lot of games/have a lot of free time, so little bugs and stuff don't stand out to me as much......so overall, F1 2010, if nothing else, has been a pretty good time waster.

This is getting weird. Everyone is talking about their experiences with these bugs and glitches so I know they must be there, but I haven't seen anything yet.

I did a couple 30% races and I didn't even get caught out by the pitstop bug. The only bug I've seen is that I used a flashback once and after that all the cars were ghost cars the rest of the race. Thats honestly the only thing I've seen, and I have the 360 version. It's almost like theres two games out there.

# 227 LingeringRegime @ 09/26/10 01:03 PM
Honestly, I have only ran into one bug so far. The "I can't stay on the track" bug.

Seriously, though. I haven't experienced any bugs yet. Not saying that I won't, but I am having fun with it.

But, I understand you guys with the wheel would be pissed off. Spending all that money for a good setup, and the game you have been looking forward to isn't living up to what was promised. I get that.

Visiting the CM forums is insane though. I come away from there wondering if I have the same game everyone else does.

Well I just had a pretty bad bug. My career save file is corrupt. I have to start over. Luckily I was only two races into my career. I heard it may have something to do with the R&D objectives or autosave from the Codemasters Forum. In the short term (before the inevitable patch) I suggest that no one completes the R&D objectives and turn the autosave feature off.

Anyone else experiencing severe AI rubberbanding?? I qualified 17th at Catalunya and got up to ninth before the first AI starts pitting ( Lap 4 ), i went with a late pit strategy and eventually was up to 2nd before i had to make my pit, pitted ( 8 seconds ) and came out in 20th!!!!

I also saw Webber win a race without pitting.....man i love this game, but bugs galore are making it frustrating

Yup this is in there too. Someone said if you pit earlier the cars go slower, later and they speed up

PC Version:

I'm having fun with it so far! I did some Time Trials with assist turned on at the Australia track and wound up in the 100 rankings. Came back and did some with all aids turned off and only managed a 300's ranking. I'm enjoying turning laps and downloading the online faster laps to see where I am in comparison.

I also did some online with 4 other guys and we had 2 fun filled races (no AI), all aids off, 10%, and no collisions. I noticed some online warping/lag though but didn't hamper us since collisions were off.

This title won't replace my other sims in any way but it's tons of fun!

One more thing, I was getting bad stuttering after about 4 laps at some tracks. However, I found a fix at the CM F1 forums that eliminates it by modifying the replay file to read only to keep it from tying up my hdd with replays.

That's not it. More likely it's they have a ship date and they have meet deadlines and there's no way to kills all the bugs before the "going gold" date. I'm not defending them but all these games have release schedules and they have to meet them. And pushing them back weeks or months probably would hurt the game more than help it.

So over on the CM forums I read about somebody adjusting their front wing on the straightaway, I looked through the manual and found no mention of this at all?? Is there a way to adjust your front wing? Is it the d-pad? On PS3 btw.

They are also saying the ai is not affected by a full fuel loads or fuel loads period. Anyone have any more info on these two things? Thanks!

Yes you use the d-pad. Press the dpad once to see the options (one is wing, one is tires/pit strategy, and the other is engine). Press the dpad key again for the option you want and press it again to adjust from there.

From this menu you can also change your tires for when you pit, put the engine to cruise if they tell you it's overheating, and adjust the wings.

It's not just a PS3/360 issue. I've seen most of the big bugs so far. Some many times. Play enough and I'm sure you'll see them.

Yeah, I've had that happen twice so far. I've started keeping two copies of my save file (On PC) just in case something happens.

Yes. And you what the terrible part about it is?

"Nope, we don't use the rubber band system because I really dislike it"

I still enjoy racing, but man is it frustrating.

Yeah, but I'm also tired of the "gotta hit our release date" excuse as well. I like that consoles can be patched, but companies are now relying on this too much and it's killing the quality of games. Publishers now know they can release games that aren't finished and get away with it by promising to patch it later. And then, if the game sells well enough, they might actually do that.

Read the same thing and had the same issue. I turned off autosave, but I'll keep doing the R and D stuff to see if that fixes it.

Had a couple of the bugs listed in here pop up for me too. The tire on my Lotus keeps exploding

Reminds me of this video:

He got a puncture at the very beginning of the race

Still having a blast with the game despite not touching online yet.

It's starting to wear thin for me. For one, I absolutely suck at the game, just can't get anything going and can't seem to remotely finish strong. I don't know what it is either, I'm starting to wonder if it's the full tank thing compared to other cars not being full on gas.

I'm just frustrated right now with the game.

It's all about the qualifying. Take today's F1 race...Alonso led from the first turn and never looking back. My problem is on race day, I make so many stupid mistakes that I only have myself to blame. If I could run better laps, I would finish strong.

And I think codies nailed the constructors pretty much. My car simply has nothing and one little mistake and there's a lost second. I'm having a blast because they nailed this aspect of F1.

That's the thing though, I know it's on me, but my qualifying best so far is 14th. Ugh. LOL
