Positives: Definitely moves smoother than 2k10. Graphics look better, players seem to be built more accurately (size wise), and the player textures are nice. Controls are more accurate. It's easier to go where you want with your dribbling. Collision detection is much better, blocking and rebounding also seem pretty good at this point. A lot of the new dunk and layup animations look great. Turbo cheesing isn't as effective. Turbo works much more like how it should, get your man leaning one way and explode quickly the other way, running around like a moron doesn't cut it.
Negative: Too many easy passes tipped/stolen. I think they may have overdone this a bit.
You need to make good passes. I don't think its overdone at all. Balls don't fly through hands, and if a defender is within reach of a ball he will reach for it. This is a good thing. If you slow down the offense and wait for openings/create openings for passes, you may find that the balance is quite solid. This game, even on pro, forces good decision making. That can't be bad for a sim player.
The worst part about this one player thing. Is that we can't really see if there are any exploits. Your only going to find them in user vs user games.
But keep the impressions coming guys. It sounds so up lifting.
If this is your issue, you might want to cancel your preorder. Every game is going to have some exploits when dealing with user vs user. That's just common sense. If you don't think people will find a way to "cheese" with the game then you are kidding yourself.
Well, the one thing I did like about 2K10 in regards to pump fakes that the CPU would not only NOT BITE on the pump face but make you pay by swiping ans stealing the ball from you. Now given that you had it on a higher difficulty setting and the right sliders. Just hope this is the case in 2K11.
Man this game feels & plays so much better than 2k10.
I like how when they show the outside arena the attendance numbers change. Nothing major to brag about but it's part of those little things to make the game feel more real.
IMO Kobe's sig shots are perfect.
I'm loving the entry passing to the post it just feels and looks way better than 2k10.
I had a play that the shot clock was winding down and Kobe was at the left side of the wing and I went to the top and slide the shot stick in the same direction and he took that "Kobe" like shot and as the buzzer sounds, drilled it....
The AI defensively responds much better as making crazy passes will not fly by anymore it's gonna get intercepted forcing you to make sure you make smart passing.
I haven't stop playing (still playing as I'm typing this) and all 2k needs to do now is just get their servers down so when the retail game drops, 5v5 will run smooth. Props to 2k you guys really did a great job with this title
I am well on my way to achieving isomotion with these new smooth and buttery controls. Then again, I watched the CONTROLS trailer a billion times so by the time I popped in the demo, the isomotion was just effortless.
The sig gathers will be damn near ungaurdable when chained with the isomotion dribbles. Nothwithstanding the fact that when combined with momentum jumpers, leaners, and drifters, the superstars with high off the dribble ratings will be a nightmare.
The post game is mostly the same as last year with some new animations, which isn't a bad thing because it was revolutionary in 2K10.
Couldnt figure out how to call plays but that was addressed by JrDoubleHockeySticks post, so thanks for that!
Only thing I have a small gripe about is the uber slow walk-up-the-ball animation. I hope its not the same for all ball handlers, and that hopefully its varied depending on the player.
All in all, to sum it up, the one word that kept coming to mind is TIGHT. The movement is TIGHT, as in not herky jerky with slight movements of left stick. You can definately feel the player wieght and moment.
Releasing this demo so early led me to believe that 2K was confident in its product out of the box, unlike previous years.
VC/2K, coming from an unabashed fanboy, I applaud your efforts
OK, I was 2 hours late to work playing the demo, so I gotta get back on the grind...lol....
We both know Elite/Live always does the presentation better.
Not to let this get into a pissing match, but But, seriously, dude - PLEASE keep Elite out of this thread.
I feel that VC has been the king of presentation since NFL2K5 and from what we been told, this game is going to take it to 2K5 levels.
The audio, however, has been lacking in NBA 2K. That seems to be much improved, although I can STILL hear that damned ball going through the net sound that's just wrong, wrong, wrong.
Thanks to the member who sent me the link to the historic teams.
Shame they teased us with a few good ones, omitted some that would be great (like the Rockets), and just went overboard with so many Bulls squads.
The link hinted the list of historic teams as being "for now..." so I'm going to hold tight and hope they work on beefing that up with DLC. Do that 2K, and you've sold at least 1 more copy of you game than you would have.
I just had my favorite moment yet for the demo. Players were fighting underneath the basket for the rebound and Gasol goes up in the direction of the ball and I'm thinking to myself how nice it all looks and Gasol rolls on his ankle on the way down. There he was on the floor, clinching his ankle. Very impressive. The funny thing was that Kobe was at the top of the key with his arms folded.
Everything plays out so nicely. One thing on th einjuries is it would be nice to see the players gather around their injured player to check on him. Kobe looked like he was saying, "Come on man, get up."
I also had a foul on Pierce as he approached the basket and and altered his position and he still tried to get the basket on the way down. It looked excellent.
Shame they teased us with a few good ones, omitted some that would be great (like the Rockets), and just went overboard with so many Bulls squads.
Uh, I'm not saying this because I'm a born and raised Bull fan, but this is just silly. Jordan is the feature athlete in the game. OF COURSE they have use "so many Bulls squads". He was a Chicago Bull you know.
This is what I wanted to hear when Mike went back to 2K... Live 10 had a lot of things I really liked, especially control and halfcourt play-wise, so this makes me happy.
Can't wait to try the demo when I get home, I totally forgot about it...
Can't wait for demo to drop on PS3.Game's looking really sick.
Although i hate the fact that you can only play with Lakers, i really wanted to check out revamped isomotion with Rondo.
