"Via David Littman.

Hey guys...we will be putting out more and more videos as we drive to finish the game. Next week's videos will be direct capture, because these videos look a bit fast when just filmed with a camera in front of a TV. We will also have more gameplay that has not been seen yet...like put backs, more in-air collisions, hook shots, etc. As we get different dev guys playing the game, they each have different styles, so each set of videos will be different. We will focus on the CPU next week also. I will say that until you feel this game with your own hands (when you get the downloadable demo), it will be tough to understand how much control you truly have over the outcome of the game."

Convince, jtdribbles has played the game, so if he says, not true... then it's probably... Not true.

It looks like the way you guard the pick and roll is going to be big this year. We may have to constantly be alternating the way we guard the pick. Guys like Paul and Nash may force you to do everything you can to stop him whether its a trap, switch, or just help and recover.

And you'll also have to worry about whether or not you go under or over the pick with them too. And since we don't have the suction to save us if we choose the wrong way will probably get burned alot.

I just hope the real AI comes into effect on pick and roll plays too. Could make guys like Nash a little more unpredictable because they'll be reading you like a human would.

jt is right. The timing and direction of your release governs how the shot goes in.

1. Pick and Roll is definitely too easy to score, I think this is USER VS USER right? Maybe thats the reason, hopefully when I play against the CPU, the pick and roll won't be so easy to use, I see the big man rolling to the basket can get an easy layup or dunk almost everytime...??? Gotta work on that!

2. The dunks, WAY too many dunks, this is only a 5 mins gameplay but there are like 8 dunks or smt liek that already, way too much, turn it down, make the big man do more tapping backboard kind of layup will be perfect man...

3. The players all look the same, hey man, not all the black guys are equally black, Paul looks same as Okafor, West, I can't even tell the difference man other than by comparing their height, live 10 player models look much much better...

4. AND LAST QUESTION, is it true that if you master the shot you get 100%??? This is really scary to hear...and how come ALL PLAYERS SHOOT THE SAME WAY, WHERE ARE THE SIGNATURE SHOTS?????

Thats it for now...
I have seen in one of the post on here that the shots sweet spot will change based on the situation. For example someone in your face vs. being open, or at the 3pt line vs. at the free throw line.

The sweet spot will be different in each of those situations

But hasnt that been the case in every basketball game when shooting? If you can master the timing of releasing the shot button then you will be a deadly shooter?

With that said i see from the video that the little shot meter is not on the screen like they were in the short clips and demo videos so how would we know when to release the stick or when the meter thing is in the sweet spot?

^^^This... I hope the real AI does kick in on those certain instances.

Yea I really like it, I can so see the suction to the guy with the ball or the ground is completely gone, which is GREAT, this is how it is in real basketball, we now take control of the whole body of the defender and really need to be careful to go under pick or behind the pick, I think like the EA pp said, PLAYING DEFENCE IS SO FUN THIS YEAR BECAUSE IS IN OUR HANDS, FINGERS, W/E, WE HAVE THE CONTROL!

# 87 BiggD @ 09/04/10 10:10 PM
well.....better then the first 2 vids i guess

# 88 jrose57 @ 09/04/10 10:10 PM
AND do you guys realize the players are smaller and the court is bigger this year??? LOTS OF SPACING FOR THE DRIVE AND KICK, I finally can take lots of jumpers like we ALL DO IN streetball or even in NBA, 2k11 is still lack of this in my opinion based on their videos =(

# 89 HoodedSoldier @ 09/04/10 10:12 PM
Best video so far as many have said. Love the 2 hand dunk animations. The broadcast camera helps a lot.

Broadcast view makes this and all sports games look so much better.

All the devs and now David Littman are saying you have to play/feel the game to truly understand how much control you have. If the game doesn't feel like an orgasm while i'm playing it i will definitely be pissed.

Pretty good vid. Restored my faith to a degree, still wondering if learning how to play will wear thin b/c of the lack of depth and individuality of the players.

I wish they would slow down the retreat dribbling and the side step dribbling...I know CP3 is quick but this made him move funny IMO...also opens the gate for a quick run up and back for a easy open shot.

I also hate how the players are taking advantage of open shots, drives, fast breaks....i mean i know u want to show 'sim' play...but there is nothing realistic in real life about not taking uncontested layups to setup the O. I know the playcalling is good, let me see yall try to dominate each other...that will give me a better idea of how the game plays.

Things that stuck out to me:
:13- When davis drove to the basket blake griffin stepped out to the three point line for the kick out. (Can griffin hit threes though?)

:28-When thorton runs by west, west turns his body away from him so the defender that is following thorton does not have a chance to knock the ball away. Also nice post up by west as he leaves griffin standing there. (Move your feet griffin lol)

:54- Like the risk taking as griffin tries to post up but the ball gets stolen, but west did kind of a quick slide-step to get in position to steal it.

:57-Hornets had a good fast break opportunity but when Okafor passed Paul the ball he had to stop and wait on it instead of it being a lead pass and Paul could have ran a fastbreak

1:05- Good defensive rotation. As eric gordon came to double team west he left thorton alone at the 3pt line but when west kicked it out kaman rotated over to put a hand in thorton face. Then after griffen grabs the rebound he kicks it out to gordon in the outlet for a fastbreak. So hopefully those fast paced teams will do that continually

1:13-Nice dribbling and set of moves by davis. Only if he would have pulled up on paul after stepping back and losing him to finish it off. Like to see that you can intercept the ally-opp pass

1:55- Kaman tries to post up to high which causes him to dribble to much and he pays for it

1:58-Paul should have been able to outrun everyone when he got the pass but everyone stays with him stride for stride which is way i think the user pulled up

2:10-Okafor clears out the paint for paul to cut to the hoop. Imo someone else should be cutting to the hoop instead of paul but i have no problem with that but once they finish that paul stays down low and okafor stays at the 3 pt line. I hated when centers who were not shooters did that in live. But he did cut to the basket when the shoot went up. I like

2:47-good d at first but the user messed up when paul went to back him down. Nice fadeaway by paul

3:01- Davis was beasting paul on his way to the hoop and Okafor just stood and watched.

3:14-Love the post up and shot by west. Griffen seemed to jump a little too late. MAybe if he would have jumped a tad bit earlier he would have blocked the shot. Show timing plays a big factor in blocking shots

3:54-Wonder if west would have jumped would he have been able to break up the ally opp
  • Bench still does the same things as last yr
  • On pick and rolls it seemed like what the defender who comes to help does is random. Sometimes he went with the player rolling sometimes he went with the player going around the pick. I think on live 10 there was a coaching option as to how you wanted to play the pick and roll. I believe you will have the ability to stop it but its up to you
  • It seems fairly easy to pull off an ally-opp if nobody is in front of the player receiving the pass so it might not be an exploit but i can see people abusing it and going to that all game with player like lebron
  • I seen a lot of good help d and double teams. This will also seperate the good players from the not so good ones imo. The good players will be able to pick that up and kick the ball out to someone that is open. Others will continue to dribble or shoot into the help d.

Tired of seeing videos even though im going to watch them all. I want to play it for myself already but guess i got to have patience lol

Seems like the dev team is building up to full out attack mode. It looks like they are trying to highlight a specific part of the game in every vid.

Quick plays first vid, Real AI second vid, Alley-oops and picks this vid. Maybe we'll get some fastbreak play and in-air collisions on the next one.

That video got me back on the track. That is what I expected to see in the first video. Finally got to see some realistic play action. If they keep this up, I will be playing 2 NBA titles this year.

# 95 phant030 @ 09/04/10 11:04 PM
I feel you, they should have done the highlight videos like last yr for that...the ones Mike Wang was talking about the improvement in each area. Looks kinda odd tryna showcase in this setting....glad im seeing more tho...glad this one looks better aswell. Ready for the demo.

# 96 Jano @ 09/04/10 11:10 PM
Yea I wonder why they didn't do it like last year now that you mention it... Would have saved them from a lot criticism if they showed the stuff in highlights first.

They could have hid the game a little longer too lol! But I guess because they were working so hard on it this year they didn't have time to try and set up perfect highlight vids. Probably much easier to just record regular gameplay.

This is starting to look better now still kinda skeptical but I'm hopeful.....usually i buy both but recently Live/Elite has been losing me and then this video came out and the train is back on the rails

Looking back every now and then i find things that make me laugh.....like when i first seen this video and i was blown away....

Not surprised that the game looks better from the broadcast came, Live 10 was the same way especially with rebounding and play in the paint.

Still a ton of issues though that most have already pointed out.

Defense looks non-existent in the paint. No player differential whatsoever. Jumpers still look awkward. I honestly haven't seen one jumpshot animation for a player that looks accurate.

Why haven't they shown vids of any of the top stars in the league outside of Durant? I want to see if LBJ, Kobe, etc still have their signature stuff. Right now the game looks like NCAA Basketball '10 in terms of it's alarming genericness.

The game may be good enough as alternative from time to time but it looks like it's major lack of depth is going to kill it from being entertaining for long periods of time.

I agree

Kobe's shot was similar to last years but a bit different

Other than that, far enough away you can hardly tell who's who anyway
