NCAA Football 11 News Post

After the frenzy this morning, EA has posted details on the patch. This is the official blog that will be out soon on the EA site. LTP #2 is also needed for the patch to have the full effect. It is available as of 9:10am eastern.

-----------------------------------------

Hello again NCAA Fans!

I'm Russ Kiniry and I'd like to welcome you to Client Update 2 for NCAA Football 11. You should be able to download the update now (it will automatically download when you start the game). Roy talked about this update coming a while back in his blog 'Thank You' and I brought it up again when we released Live Tuner Pack 1 last week. I am happy to finally say it is here, and we've got a long list of tweaks, tunes, and fixes. Many of these changes were requests straight from you, the fans of NCAA Football, so it was very important to us to get them in the update. Enough words, let's get to the list!

Graphics
  • Uniform degradation has been fixed.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with TeamBuilder sideline home uniforms.
  • Fixed several camera bugs (pulled back on field goals, blurry cameras, and replays after a change of possession)
  • Fixed helmet numbers for Rice and Wake Forest
Online
  • Resolved an issue with Season Showdown, allowing us to turn it back on, so you're upload failure message every time you go in/out of game is gone!
  • Fixed a couple freezes related to lobbies
  • Fixed voice communication in Online Dynasty Hub on PS3
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to a disconnect in online play during play calling
Offense
  • Fixed an issue on a couple plays where the QB would miss a hand off and run backward
  • Reduced the chance that the ball will be knocked out when a receiver is hit at the time of the catch
  • Tuned the CPU ball carrier so that they will break to the outside more often when appropriate
  • Tuned how the CPU ball carriers utilize leans and special moves so that they won't be used in situations when they shouldn't (e.g. a HB in the open field will not put his shoulders down when running forward)
  • Tuned pass accuracy and the ability to lead a receiver
  • Tweaked sideline catch animations in the end zone so that they have a bit more room to play
  • Fixed an exploit where backwards passes could be overly effective
Defense
  • Fixed defensive reaction to pump fake to be more balanced. Skilled defensive backs will not be as easily fooled by pump fakes.
  • Tuned the Aggressive Defensive Line Gameplan to have more risk of jumping offsides
  • Removed a hesitation from defensive lineman pass rush on screen plays
  • Improved flat zone and deep zone coverage
  • Tuned man coverage reaction to the run
  • Adjusted CPU pursuit angles in some specific cases where they weren't being aggressive enough
Special Teams
  • Tuned onside kicks to be less predictable
  • Fixed an issue where catching a kicked ball after hitting the goalpost would result in kicking team getting the ball back
  • Fixed an issue where the punter could line up out of place
  • Adjusted cross bar collision on field goals and extra points
Other
  • Tuned CPU clock management where they would let the clock run out in some cases they shouldn't
  • Fixed a bug with time of possession tracking
  • Adjusted substitutions to be more intelligent (previously would see some weird players in the game with lots of aggressive no huddle)
  • Fixed a couple places where the wrong custom stadium sounds would play
  • Fixed a bug that caused Road To Glory to be simulated day by day near the end of the season
  • Tuned Kick Power and Kick Accuracy of progression of kickers and punters in Dynasty Mode
  • Fixed a couple infrequent game lock-ups

Again, I want to thank you for providing us with all the feedback you have thus far, and encourage you to continue to do so. It's safe to say this is the biggest update in NCAA History. We wanted to be sure that we continue to improve your experience while playing NCAA Football 11, so this update touches almost every area of the game. You can look forward to more Live Tuner Packs for NCAA Football 11 in the near future.

This update is for you Mr. Passionate-NCAA-Football-Gamer.

Besides this being the best Fball game ever, have to luv the brown socks bug!

Also can we get dynamic attendance and please not have the crowd chanting D-Fence on a QB knee as the D is down 41-0.

Otherwise I luv this game! And I am more of a pro fball guy but this is a ton better then Madden. Might change after a Madden patch for the lame D.

Yeah the game seems to play good for guys like us playing with low rated schools versus other low rated schools.

One small thing that needs to be improved are all the players helping opponent's up on the field post-play. That's fine in a meaningless game but I don't want to see Michigan guys helping OSU guys off the ground in the big game.

So what's the consensus about dirty unis on field turf? I've read some posts saying it doesn't happen and others saying it does. I played Cal at Washington State last night in a downpour and Cal's all whites were spotless, as well as WSU's. Then I looked up WSU's stadium and it said they play on field turf.

I played at Arkansas last night, grass field no rain and by the 3rd quarter the uniforms started getting scuffed, PS3.

With PSU I just beat Florida in The Swamp and only got one point for an underdog win! BooooooO!

I am going to apply these to my dynasty, but I am not sure if the run/pass ratio is for offense or defense? I am assuming that this value is meant for the team's offensive run/pass, but I would like to make sure.

IE: Carpet.

thanks for the uniform info. it looks like as long as you aren't indoors or on field turf you will have dirty uniforms regardless of the weather. also, i haven't noticed a big difference in the kicking game for the CPU...still missed an XP with the slider at 50.

This thread has now officially run its course.

Is there anyway someone can post the patch to download for users who do not have their PS3 connected to the internet?

# 374 3Percenter @ 08/13/10 01:57 PM
Do players who had not come in til' the 4th quarter show up with dirty uniforms as soon as they come in?

I was just wondering about that today. I like the dirty uniforms but is it realistic to mirror how long a player has been in the game or do all the uniforms get dirty no matter who the player is.

You can chanage the aggressiveness as per their real life tendencies. Air Force for example runs 85% of the time, and blitzes 25% of the time...you can change that, and do that for every team in the game in your dynasty...someone has a spreadsheet in the thread that actually breaks down what the run/pass slider should be and the aggressiveness on D.

I played 3 games in my dynasty, and I've seen 15 1 man blitzes, 6 2 man blitzes, and 2 all out blitzes in 3 games...so the slider does work.

I've been preaching this in a few threads. The coaching sliders add to the realisim of the game.

At default we should all know by now EA is going to do things their way. Whether that be player ratings, sliders or CPU style of play, but the bottom line is if your willing to take a few hours or even minutes you can fix some of these issues being posted in this thread.

Now no one is saying the issues will completely go away but I think the suggestions really help to enhance the gameplay a great deal more.

At this point I think it just comes down to if you want EA to do it or if you want to take matters into your own hands and not depend on EA to do it.

IMO they might eventually get to it but you could be waiting a long time for it to happen.

I've done the defensive aggressiveness sliders fix in my offline dynasty (the only place it works, by the way) and its impact is measurable but not really substantial. Yeah, the CPU won't blitz as much, but they will still do it in predictable situations almost every time (just about every 3rd and medium - long), and they still call the most ineffective blitz packages for the situation. I just played a game against Oklahoma State and I watched the replay for just about every gain of 15 yards or more I had through the air and down the middle of the field. On the vast majority of them, the CPU called Nickel against 4 and 5 receiver sets, and they used one of those plays where the safety and the extra CB, or the extra CB and a linebacker blitz while one or two of the DLinemen drop back into coverage. These plays might work on runs or short passes out of 2 WR sets, but they simply don't work against a spread offense. So while they might technically only be 5 or even 4 man rushes, the fact that they are trading LBs and DBs for linemen creates gaping holes in the middle that you practically have all day to exploit.

Ultimately the sliders just don't do enough to change the CPU logic in these situations to fix the lack of challenge in the passing game.

CPU RB logic is better since the patch, but it could still use a good amount of work. They still protect the ball way too much and still run toward the middle of the field at times when they shouldn't.

I luv this game!

The protect the ball logic is weird in this game. I've seen some runs where the RB is covering the ball with nobody around him and he looks idiotic. Then I play another game and the cpu RB busts a long run, has guys right on his tail and doesn't cover up. Granted, it was a really good RB on this last play. I wonder if the cover up logic is related to their fumble rating or some sort of awareness? If the RB isn't afraid to fumble maybe they don't cover up as much.

See this video of Clay busting a TD run against me (yes, I love playing with him and against him) and he doesn't cover the ball.

This was a nice TD pass to Baldwin. A corner- post route with no magic swat.

P.S. The embed code for youtube doesn't seem to be working.

In year 3 of my dynasty my players didn't progress at all....this is with all tuner updates and the patch. Anyone else seeing this?
