NCAA Football 11 News Post


After the frenzy this morning, EA has posted details on the patch. This is the official blog that will be out soon on the EA site. LTP #2 is also needed for the patch to have the full effect. It is available as of 9:10am eastern.

Hello again NCAA Fans!

I'm Russ Kiniry and I'd like to welcome you to Client Update 2 for NCAA Football 11. You should be able to download the update now (it will automatically download when you start the game). Roy talked about this update coming a while back in his blog 'Thank You' and I brought it up again when we released Live Tuner Pack 1 last week. I am happy to finally say it is here, and we've got a long list of tweaks, tunes, and fixes. Many of these changes were requests straight from you, the fans of NCAA Football, so it was very important to us to get them in the update. Enough words, let's get to the list!


Graphics
  • Uniform degradation has been fixed.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with TeamBuilder sideline home uniforms.
  • Fixed several camera bugs (pulled back on field goals, blurry cameras, and replays after a change of possession)
  • Fixed helmet numbers for Rice and Wake Forest
Online
  • Resolved an issue with Season Showdown, allowing us to turn it back on, so you're upload failure message every time you go in/out of game is gone!
  • Fixed a couple freezes related to lobbies
  • Fixed voice communication in Online Dynasty Hub on PS3
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to a disconnect in online play during play calling
Offense
  • Fixed an issue on a couple plays where the QB would miss a hand off and run backward
  • Reduced the chance that the ball will be knocked out when a receiver is hit at the time of the catch
  • Tuned the CPU ball carrier so that they will break to the outside more often when appropriate
  • Tuned how the CPU ball carriers utilize leans and special moves so that they won't be used in situations when they shouldn't (e.g. a HB in the open field will not put his shoulders down when running forward)
  • Tuned pass accuracy and the ability to lead a receiver
  • Tweaked sideline catch animations in the end zone so that they have a bit more room to play
  • Fixed an exploit where backwards passes could be overly effective
Defense
  • Fixed defensive reaction to pump fake to be more balanced. Skilled defensive backs will not be as easily fooled by pump fakes.
  • Tuned the Aggressive Defensive Line Gameplan to have more risk of jumping offsides
  • Removed a hesitation from defensive lineman pass rush on screen plays
  • Improved flat zone and deep zone coverage
  • Tuned man coverage reaction to the run
  • Adjusted CPU pursuit angles in some specific cases where they weren't being aggressive enough
Special Teams
  • Tuned onside kicks to be less predictable
  • Fixed an issue where catching a kicked ball after hitting the goalpost would result in kicking team getting the ball back
  • Fixed an issue where the punter could line up out of place
  • Adjusted cross bar collision on field goals and extra points
Other
  • Tuned CPU clock management where they would let the clock run out in some cases they shouldn't
  • Fixed a bug with time of possession tracking
  • Adjusted substitutions to be more intelligent (previously would see some weird players in the game with lots of aggressive no huddle)
  • Fixed a couple places where the wrong custom stadium sounds would play
  • Fixed a bug that caused Road To Glory to be simulated day by day near the end of the season
  • Tuned Kick Power and Kick Accuracy of progression of kickers and punters in Dynasty Mode
  • Fixed a couple infrequent game lock-ups


Again, I want to thank you for providing us with all the feedback you have thus far, and encourage you to continue to do so. It's safe to say this is the biggest update in NCAA History. We wanted to be sure that we continue to improve your experience while playing NCAA Football 11, so this update touches almost every area of the game. You can look forward to more Live Tuner Packs for NCAA Football 11 in the near future.

If you look past them not fixing the names issue, the pump fake glitch, etc. Then yes...

When a linebacker jumps up in .5 second to pick off my bullet over the middle, with one hand, I'd say its fair game to use cheap **** too on the CPU.

Kickers in Dynasty mode remain a huge issue.

I've got an idea......... Why don't you fix the crowd in the OU/Texas game where the Texas fans are on the OU side and the OU fans are on the Texas side when Texas is wearing their home Burnt Orange. My GOD!!!!!!!!!!!!! It's only one of the biggest rivalries in college football and the fans DON'T CHANGE SIDES each year. The OU fans are one the OU side........The Texas fans are on the TEXAS side EACH YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! FOR THE LOVE

Yep. I like it now that roughing calls and offsides/encroachment are more prevalent. I've even witnessed a handful of PI calls too. Still not enough, but better.

yeah...get this...I just had 2 CPU Offensive PI's called...WOW!

Well, in 2012 I still see a lot of Fr. kickers rated in the 40s and 50s and then they progress 5-10 points making them rated 50 and 60, which still means they can't make extra points with consistency or a 35 yard FG...ever.

So I'd say it's still borked.

That's lousy . . . hopefully this is something that can be tuned and not left to a full patch.

Ive seen way too many facemask penalties called after this patch and i have facemask penalty set on default

I can see how this bothers some people....but I personally have no issuse with Kickers being rated low now.

Only 2-4 of them even make the NFL each year anyway. It's about time EA developed the game so that kickers aren't all Mark Mosely or Morten Anderson anymore.

If I have a problem with the kickers not getting distance on kicks then I'll just jack up the Power Slider. I hope they don't go and make the kickers All-Americans again because of the lower ratings complaints

In fact I fear they will go right back next year to making the WR's and Kickers all great again because of the recent complainst to their lower skill ratings this year.

EA has no medium groind and since that is the case I'd prefer it stay the way it is and let the sliders fix it.

recruits are made at the BEGINNING of a season. If you didnt start a new season or a new dynasty then the patch wont take effect for new recruits until the NEXT recruiting class. Not the one for the season you are currently in.

Yeah, I am really tired of seeing people whine about this position is rated too low or that position is rated low. Guess what it is more realistic this year and alot of so called "True Sim Players" are crying about it. Listen youngsters just because your QB is a beast in the MAC does not mean he should be rated in the 80's or 90's....it's the MAC, in reality he is a 70, 75 at best. And everybody was cryin about progression but to me that was more realistic as well. Only change I would have made woulda been to make someone who has a breakout season progress more.

I heard recruits now come in with more and different accesories and not all the same crap now? I have a hard time believing this though.

If you're OK with many incoming freshmen kickers being about 50/50 on extra points, even with the sliders maxed at 100, then hey...godspeed and enjoy.

But why does it have to be one extreme or the other?

Why can't we not get every kicker be Uwe Von Schamann yet not have kickers rated under 50 who can't, literally, make a 30 yard FG?

I haven't noticed that much of a difference in game play to be honest. There are less DL jumping I suppose but the LB's are still annoying. The CPU still covering up the ball instead of sprinting in the open field is a little absurd too. And of course the CPU just getting 99% of their passes off in the nick of time, and throwing it perfectly accurate, is still my biggest beef with the game.

The game is still a blast though.

The CPU hasn't returned to "Robo QB", i.e. perfectly accurate spin-o-rama throws, 40 yard strikes while getting drill, or shaking off 320 lb DT's like they were fleas. The CPU has turned into Steve Young accuracy wise though. The same is true for the User QB as well.

It was an easy fix for me though. Raising pass coverage back to default levels, and dropping Human and CPU QB acc down to 30 and that took care of that. This is on AA.

The CPU calling blitzes on every 3rd and long is getting to the point where it is becoming a game killer. If you get any pass off down the middle then it's an automatic TD.

I can't imagine keeping the game unless this is corrected. Was hoping patch #2 would fix this. The defensive aggression sliders don't seem to even come into play on 3rd downs.
