NCAA Football 11 News Post


After the frenzy this morning, EA has posted details on the patch. This is the official blog that will be out soon on the EA site. LTP #2 is also needed for the patch to have the full effect. It is available as of 9:10am eastern.

Hello again NCAA Fans!

I'm Russ Kiniry and I'd like to welcome you to Client Update 2 for NCAA Football 11. You should be able to download the update now (it will automatically download when you start the game). Roy talked about this update coming a while back in his blog 'Thank You' and I brought it up again when we released Live Tuner Pack 1 last week. I am happy to finally say it is here, and we've got a long list of tweaks, tunes, and fixes. Many of these changes were requests straight from you, the fans of NCAA Football, so it was very important to us to get them in the update. Enough words, let's get to the list!


Graphics
  • Uniform degradation has been fixed.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with TeamBuilder sideline home uniforms.
  • Fixed several camera bugs (pulled back on field goals, blurry cameras, and replays after a change of possession)
  • Fixed helmet numbers for Rice and Wake Forest
Online
  • Resolved an issue with Season Showdown, allowing us to turn it back on, so you're upload failure message every time you go in/out of game is gone!
  • Fixed a couple freezes related to lobbies
  • Fixed voice communication in Online Dynasty Hub on PS3
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to a disconnect in online play during play calling
Offense
  • Fixed an issue on a couple plays where the QB would miss a hand off and run backward
  • Reduced the chance that the ball will be knocked out when a receiver is hit at the time of the catch
  • Tuned the CPU ball carrier so that they will break to the outside more often when appropriate
  • Tuned how the CPU ball carriers utilize leans and special moves so that they won't be used in situations when they shouldn't (e.g. a HB in the open field will not put his shoulders down when running forward)
  • Tuned pass accuracy and the ability to lead a receiver
  • Tweaked sideline catch animations in the end zone so that they have a bit more room to play
  • Fixed an exploit where backwards passes could be overly effective
Defense
  • Fixed defensive reaction to pump fake to be more balanced. Skilled defensive backs will not be as easily fooled by pump fakes.
  • Tuned the Aggressive Defensive Line Gameplan to have more risk of jumping offsides
  • Removed a hesitation from defensive lineman pass rush on screen plays
  • Improved flat zone and deep zone coverage
  • Tuned man coverage reaction to the run
  • Adjusted CPU pursuit angles in some specific cases where they weren't being aggressive enough
Special Teams
  • Tuned onside kicks to be less predictable
  • Fixed an issue where catching a kicked ball after hitting the goalpost would result in kicking team getting the ball back
  • Fixed an issue where the punter could line up out of place
  • Adjusted cross bar collision on field goals and extra points
Other
  • Tuned CPU clock management where they would let the clock run out in some cases they shouldn't
  • Fixed a bug with time of possession tracking
  • Adjusted substitutions to be more intelligent (previously would see some weird players in the game with lots of aggressive no huddle)
  • Fixed a couple places where the wrong custom stadium sounds would play
  • Fixed a bug that caused Road To Glory to be simulated day by day near the end of the season
  • Tuned Kick Power and Kick Accuracy of progression of kickers and punters in Dynasty Mode
  • Fixed a couple infrequent game lock-ups


Again, I want to thank you for providing us with all the feedback you have thus far, and encourage you to continue to do so. It's safe to say this is the biggest update in NCAA History. We wanted to be sure that we continue to improve your experience while playing NCAA Football 11, so this update touches almost every area of the game. You can look forward to more Live Tuner Packs for NCAA Football 11 in the near future.

Yep. Works fine in that case. Never seen the CPU fake backwards, so offline should be good unless you cheese the CPU....

Yeah that is probably why the programmers didn't know about it because nobody naturally pump fakes backwards. So I wouldn't chalk it up to something they "missed" because nobody pump fakes backwards.

They destroyed the gameplay IMO.

Robo QB is back.

I went from having somewhat realistic results on AA to every garbage QB completing 75%+ of his passes on me.

Try dropping cpu QB accuracy down then and/or increasing human pass coverage. You could also boost your pass rush if necessary. I've liked the increase to the cpu passing game myself.

I think maybe a lot of people here see what they want to see rather than what actually is...

And when you combine that with all the undercover marketers here, you're going to get a lot of people saying they don't have the game "hang" on them.

This is my problem
I want to go back before the patch but i can´t

i don´t understand why they bring the RoboQb back.. it was great before the patch
why try to fix something that it wasn´t broken?

I feel like the cpu kicker is MUCH more powerful now. Anyone else?

Kevin Prince (79 OVR) scorched my A-rated defense for 80% completion and nearly 300 yds, 2 TDs. Once I increased user pass coverage and knocked down cpu qb acc (a LOT), and cpu wr catch sliders, it curbed his success a tad. Can't wait until I play a real QB like Locker or Luck in my PAC-10 schedule.

yeah this is really bad... why did they change it

yesterday FAQ QB completed over 75% passes... while before Patch he never completed more than 55% sometimes less than that.

it was perfect.. great QB were great and bad qb were bad... now even the worst qb plays as a All american QB

RoboQB is not "back" and hasn't been around really since NCAA 2004 or 2005, I forget which. But the CPU QB has made some **** throws on me that's for sure. The worst was a perfectly floated pass from play action when the CPU was on the ONE yard line for a PERFECT in stride reception for a 99-yard touchdown. I was tackling the QB at the same time, too... and almost got sick over it. If it wasn't such a well fought game I would have been totally pissed... Still a little pissed but completely so.

I also had a couple pretty incredible catches from the CPU on the sidelines.

oVerall, I'm glad how much more open their offense is, but it also makes them that much more effective.

before patch CPU QB threw a lot of overthrows.. after patch, he rarely throws a overthrow.

when a 67ovr QB complete over 75% something is wrong... and he never did that before patch.

I just played the first game of an online Dynasty that I started with friend. I am already in week 6 of another online dynasty and in year two of my offline Dynasty, so I have played enough games to tell the diff. I am BYU in the new one and I played Washington with Jake Locker. I have it set to all-american with modified sliders. He did through over 75% but he was held under 300 yards. I was playing 9 min quarters. It didn't seem like robo QB to me. He just made good reads and my d was not that great. Maybe you should bring down computer qb acc.

That's kinda odd booker21....

I have QBA at 60 and see the CPU all the time make off target throws and miss fire on the deep ball.

In fact we were debating in my slider thread how the CPU QB's struggkle at times missing WR's by miles....so we boosted it up to 60

I don't know maybe it's the level that causes them to be more accurate but I see tons of off target passes especially from a guy with 84 accuarcy and below. EA sometimes uses the player awareness or arm strength to lower his overall but he still might have 85+ accuarcy assigned.

You should be focusing on his accuarcy rating not the overall rating.

Do you have the game saved to your hard drive?
The first thing I do with every new game is save it to my hard drive.
Anyway I have not seen this happen at all, it maybe your system not the game.

i just had a game with 6 dropped passes in 3 quarters of play. granted i am doing a dynasty with ball state. which has taught me great patience. but these dudes are dropping passes wide open.

I actually saw a cpu DL teammate get one. Never saw that pre-patch.

I´m not sure, maybe it was a two flukes but since some other members saw this as well, i thought it may not be a fluke

Maybe on AA is more bumped than on varsity.

What i hate is before the patch i was EXTREMELY happy with the overall game.
I never thought QB ACC was a problem, never read many people complaining about it. Why did they change it?

I´ll try playing with sliders now, but i hate it since i was EXTREMELY happy with the way it was on default.

Yep!! You know it Jistic.

Yep. I like it now that roughing calls and offsides/encroachment are more prevalent. I've even witnessed a handful of PI calls too. Still not enough, but better.

A great game became even better. NCAA is just stellar this year. Freaking stellar!!
