NCAA Football 11 News Post


After the frenzy this morning, EA has posted details on the patch. This is the official blog that will be out soon on the EA site. LTP #2 is also needed for the patch to have the full effect. It is available as of 9:10am eastern.

Hello again NCAA Fans!

I'm Russ Kiniry and I'd like to welcome you to Client Update 2 for NCAA Football 11. You should be able to download the update now (it will automatically download when you start the game). Roy talked about this update coming a while back in his blog 'Thank You' and I brought it up again when we released Live Tuner Pack 1 last week. I am happy to finally say it is here, and we've got a long list of tweaks, tunes, and fixes. Many of these changes were requests straight from you, the fans of NCAA Football, so it was very important to us to get them in the update. Enough words, let's get to the list!


Graphics
  • Uniform degradation has been fixed.
  • Fixed a graphical issue with TeamBuilder sideline home uniforms.
  • Fixed several camera bugs (pulled back on field goals, blurry cameras, and replays after a change of possession)
  • Fixed helmet numbers for Rice and Wake Forest
Online
  • Resolved an issue with Season Showdown, allowing us to turn it back on, so you're upload failure message every time you go in/out of game is gone!
  • Fixed a couple freezes related to lobbies
  • Fixed voice communication in Online Dynasty Hub on PS3
  • Fixed an issue that could lead to a disconnect in online play during play calling
Offense
  • Fixed an issue on a couple plays where the QB would miss a hand off and run backward
  • Reduced the chance that the ball will be knocked out when a receiver is hit at the time of the catch
  • Tuned the CPU ball carrier so that they will break to the outside more often when appropriate
  • Tuned how the CPU ball carriers utilize leans and special moves so that they won't be used in situations when they shouldn't (e.g. a HB in the open field will not put his shoulders down when running forward)
  • Tuned pass accuracy and the ability to lead a receiver
  • Tweaked sideline catch animations in the end zone so that they have a bit more room to play
  • Fixed an exploit where backwards passes could be overly effective
Defense
  • Fixed defensive reaction to pump fake to be more balanced. Skilled defensive backs will not be as easily fooled by pump fakes.
  • Tuned the Aggressive Defensive Line Gameplan to have more risk of jumping offsides
  • Removed a hesitation from defensive lineman pass rush on screen plays
  • Improved flat zone and deep zone coverage
  • Tuned man coverage reaction to the run
  • Adjusted CPU pursuit angles in some specific cases where they weren't being aggressive enough
Special Teams
  • Tuned onside kicks to be less predictable
  • Fixed an issue where catching a kicked ball after hitting the goalpost would result in kicking team getting the ball back
  • Fixed an issue where the punter could line up out of place
  • Adjusted cross bar collision on field goals and extra points
Other
  • Tuned CPU clock management where they would let the clock run out in some cases they shouldn't
  • Fixed a bug with time of possession tracking
  • Adjusted substitutions to be more intelligent (previously would see some weird players in the game with lots of aggressive no huddle)
  • Fixed a couple places where the wrong custom stadium sounds would play
  • Fixed a bug that caused Road To Glory to be simulated day by day near the end of the season
  • Tuned Kick Power and Kick Accuracy of progression of kickers and punters in Dynasty Mode
  • Fixed a couple infrequent game lock-ups


Again, I want to thank you for providing us with all the feedback you have thus far, and encourage you to continue to do so. It's safe to say this is the biggest update in NCAA History. We wanted to be sure that we continue to improve your experience while playing NCAA Football 11, so this update touches almost every area of the game. You can look forward to more Live Tuner Packs for NCAA Football 11 in the near future.

I hate to be the be the guy who brings up the negative aspect, but while the uniforms do look amazing when dirty, they are a little repetitive. Go to the photo thread and you will see that nearly every player has the same dirt sport on the upper right back of his shoulder pads. Unnoticeable in actual gameplay I would assume though so still awesome.

I don't know, why would EA give an option for you to pump backwards?

But they did, and now it's broken the game online. Pump fake backwards, and the entire secondary drops their coverage and rushes the QB. Your WRs are wide open. Every single play, formation, whatever. It works 100% of the time.

I never noticed that until now.. Do play use that crap online?

People have confirmed it works online.

I think this second patch is to blame. I remember pump faking backwards a few times in practices when I was goofing around when I got the game on release day, and it never having this result until tonight.

LB, they are 2 separate files (well, an automatic patch & an actual tuner file). You can also delete the tuner file from the file management menu using the load/delete tab I believe. I did it earlier. I wanted to make sure I had the latest tuner file, so I deleted it and downloaded it again. Fair warning though, the 360 version had progression problems in dynasty mode without the new tuner file.

Wow, did they really not fix Notre Dames no names issue?? In case they dont know, some Notre Dame fans to the let them know. When you play as Notre Dame, their names do not show up underneath the players. I know this was mentioned. Guess it rules out me being Notre Dame in an OD im about to join.

I think it is amazing how you have strived to improve the game so much. Sure there are some problems, but you seem to be listening to us not only on glitches, but with gameplay problems. This is what it should be like and I love your dedication and ability to really try to listen to the fans. If only Apple was this cooperative...

As mentioned below if you take patch 2 and don't take tuner 2 and you are a Dynasty player, your players won't progress, if you're an online player then you have to take it to still be able to play online.

It has to be fixed of course, but as an offline player only this a non issue to me, but I don't blame EA for missing the backward pump fake glitch. That it would ever enter anyone's mind to ever pump fake backward is quite astonishing to me. I mean I guess if someone was high, or liquored up, or on meds, I could see it, but otherwise why the hell would anyone ever do this, its incongruous.

No point in blaming the user, when it's in the game in the first place. It IS useless (well, not now), but EA kept it in for some reason.

If you pick the green uniforms then you can see the names at home.It still sucks but it's better than nothing.

Are you kidding? Yeah the blocking isn't perfect, but on Heisman I have 3 punt returns for a TD and 1 kick return for TD.

But they NEED to fix the schedules. I am in a dynasty as Indiana and I check the TOP 25 all the time... It is pretty bad when you find out Boise St is undefeated (#3) and Nevada is like 7-1 and they aren't scheduled to play each other like in real life... But maybe this comes from the fact that Nevada plays 13 this year.

So is going to fix the "pump fake glitch" like right now? Because there is really no point of playing online or online dynasty. As if there arent enough cheesers online to begin with.

This should be fixed as fast as the xbox progression was. Im failing to understand how EA patches/tuning almost always does something else to dampen the game.

Other than this, im completely satisfied with this game and its updates.

I was loving this game before the second patch. I had the perfect sliders thanks to SN and the gameplay just felt great IMO. Now, it just feels totally different, I'm seeing a ton of fumbles, I get penalized all the time, and I can't stop anybody on defense. Hopefully a new adjusted set of sliders will fix most of the problems.

I read through the first 13 pages of this thread and while I saw many people asking if progression in dynasty has been fixed, nobody responded. So was progression touched at all in this patch?

FYI, I would DL the patch but because of storms my internet is down until at least tomorrow so I can't dl the patch And before anyone asks how I'm posting, I'm at work.

This just confounds me. Yes, the running backs bounce to the outside when they see an opening. But they STILL cover the ball while running free (all ballcarriers do this, actually). Linebackers can still make superman plays. The FG zoom bug just happened to me, for the first time, on an extra point. I just don't get how I can see that EA says they fixed seen things like these, yet I STILL see them, or bugs that they claim to have fixed happen for the first time upon downloading the update.
