my issue with this is that it's making me take my hand off the L-stick. I need to be on the L-stick so that when the CPU snaps the ball, I am already ready to engage or move around with my defender. I dont need to be fumbling around on the d-pad when the CPU has just snapped the ball.
Furthermore, this is only driving the gap between players of NCAA and Madden. I thought the goal was to SELL BOTH games? You know, draft your NCAA players and then use them on Madden.
There's no way in the world I would EVER get used to using the strategy pad on Madden and then going over to NCAA with the regular(better) way. Heck, I had a hard enough time last year remembering how to pump fake on both games because it's different for each.

This thing is slower and Less responsive then the previous system....period
The Delay is small but its there..
For people who make 1 or 2 changes you can get by....but for the guys who make 4 or more moves whether that be shifts,Hot Routes, Press is where this is killing the way they play
No matter how much you "practice" or try and "get used to it"
^^^Im getting a little tired of people yelling that at people who have a problem with the SP......For some people you simply can't make the adjustments you used to make
True, but community day feedback wouldn't be much with the NDA in place. They really can't say much after community day.
I say scrap the limited community day and grab a group of willing guys for a few weeks each year. Pay them a small fee and get a real "Innovative Council" meetings going.
I've seen some really great ideas come from the general population that kill some of the design decisions EA makes.

Well bro I thought the same thing when I first tryed the pad for the first time 3 days ago. I said it was slow and took to much time. But since then I got use to it and I do my shifts before the AI snaps the ball. If you practice long enough and if you run the same line shiftss every down. Then after a little pratice you will do it without even thinking about it. Little hit here. Right after your D breaks the huddle start making the line shifts why they are heading to the LOS. That is what I do. But this is agait the AI offline. It might be different for online use. But I mainly play offline anyway.
No one is talking about the run / pass glitch..
The Strategy pad shows you if it's a run or a pass.. Come out in a run play, press any button on the D-Pad..
You will notice that the up button has nothing listed.. like Hot Routes..
I know you are running so I'll be prepared.. [This is a big concern for tournaments & playing against friends]
Anyone else notice that trying to pinch the defense line has a huge lag? It had a lag last year at times but definitely not as bad as this.. The whole game lags for me but it's probably because it's a demo.
I keep hearing "practice!". I honestly don't see how any sort of practice can overcome a poor digital pad on the 360 coupled with a laggy interface in the game. I can practice until I'm blue in the face, is that going to improve my d-pad on my controller or fix the lag in the games programming of the stratpad's menus???
wangtangkiki - wow, great point, i never thought about that issue of it giving away your play like that. As for lag, the entire interface is laggy. Yes it's minor but it's noticeable by me.

I really dont like the strategy pad but let me say I can still make my adjustments..before on other maddens I can make all my adjustments and then have like 10 seconds left on the play clock,now I can still make all my adjustments but Im having like 5-3 seconds left giving me a more realistic play clock timer in my opinion...even with 25 seconds runoff on madden 10 with the old audible system I could call them in like 5 seconds leaving still too many seconds on the clock

Im sorry but thats just wrong.....I start immediately as well....have the play already drawn up in my Head and I can't complete the ones I used to be able to do before
Its not about getting "used to it" the intentionally added in delay limits the number of adjustments I can make

This is like NCAA 10 where the camera would zoom out for a pass plays and not for runnings plays. Well when you did a PA pass, it would zoom out right when the ball was snapped. Thus rendering the PA ineffective b/c you knew from the camera it was gonna be a pass.

im on ps3, and it may be more comfortable than using a 360 controller, but it sure isnt much better. u have to press up with the dpad, then chosse your wr then dpad for your route then another face button to exit the menu, madden 10 was a great game bc they finally removed using the dpad for most things, like pass rush and went to the joy sticks, which is funner and easier to use, and nw to go back to the dpad is kind of stupid in my opinion bc it is not only easier but funner when u barely ever have to use the dpad anymore, plus since there is another button u have to press b4 the snap u have less time to do so bc they snap the ball which makes it harder especially when your game speed is on fast or even normal. plus they need to fix the problem when u hit the qb he almost always the ball, which isnt realistic bc in real life they say either throw it away or take the sack (live to fight another day) bc if u throw when your getting hit its not going to go where u aimed so that means turnover a good portion of the time or even a touchdown. plus if u have a good offense on madden u can always win the battle vs a even better defense, ex i tear darrelle revis a new 1 even on all madden not always using reggie wayne, bc the toe touch which is why i hope next year i hope they add something to make it more even where the db's can catch bc revis, bailey, asomaugh, drc,woodson and many other actually can catch, just balance it out since 09 was a interception fest even using manning or brady, balance is something not done often on madden (which is why madden 04 was almost perfect) bc some int's but also some td passes and td runs
I believe this error isn't in the final version. I just checked the E3 videos from K0ACHK's YouTube account. He did a run play & when he pressed the strategy pad, it showed Hot Routes.. Not for sure though..
