Maybe because I haven't played NCAA11, but I like this game. I'm able to run with Greene. Sanchez is 'Montana-esque' but hopefully sliders can fix this.
Issues here and there but not enough to make me not like it.
Running game shines once you stop trying to press so hard on the sticks.
Gameflow calls some real head-scratchers. Not sure what I want to do with this in the retail version. I prefer to use it and just audible out for now but I dunno yet. I like it though.
On defense, gameflow is also weird.
But overall, I give it a 7/10 so far.
Positives:
Running
Defensive players have weight to them
Run blocking
WRs stretching to catch the ball
WR sideline animations
Gameflow quickens the games
Negatives:
Strategy Pad needs to go. Takes WAY too much time.
Gameflow playcalling doesn't make sense some times.
Not enough time on defense pre-snap to make adjustments.
Just out of curiosity and trying to predict sales I checked the M10 demo impressions thread and after 2 days it had 1650+ posts and a thread rating of 4.25. This year 950 posts and a thread rating of 3.25. Doesn't look promising.
I think the O-Line AI is still really bad and for me kills what could be a decent game. Centers seem particular bad this year. Just snap it and get beaten immediately by any DT alot of the time.

I see what you are saying. Others have said the same thing about 8. 9. 10, etc..., but OS is a small sample size.
It's not really indicative of the general gaming public. Sounds like you are rooting for it to do bad. I don't see why anyone(except people with a chip on their shoulder about the liscense still) would hope for sales to go lower from year to year. The more money they make the more they can spend on resources the following year.

Not necessarily. In the past, increased revenue for Madden has led to increased apathy. Maybe this franchise needs a kick in the butt to really go back to basics of the sport, kind of like the FIFA franchise. It didn't make monumental changes until PES was killing it.

Talking about companies in general.
It's subjective if you feel that EA doesn't toss in revenues from the previous year.
The audio has been really trimmed down in the demo,at first i thought maybe they should have left it in even if the game would be a big download then i realized everyone myself included would probaly turn our attention to something else so i realized it would be pointless.
I've bought every Madden since 01, here's my thoughts on 11 Demo
Gameflow/Gameplan is an ok gimmick, nothing more. It claims to offer "over 20 situations" for offense and defense yet offense has 18 and defense has a pathetic 6, all of which are idiotic and not based on situations like down and yardage to go, which makes it useless.
The pre-snap adjustments have always been a part of the game that was perfectly fine. I was able to do w/e I wanted, however much I wanted, quickly and easily all before the ball was snapped. Then they ruined it with this bizarre and confusing strategy pad. It's completely counter intuitive and not user friendly.
The coach speak thing I'm hoping can be turned off. It's a feature that would be better suited for the WII version and the 5 year olds that are playing it on there.
I heard all this talk and hype about "locomotion" and how it's a revolutionary thing, blah blah blah. I recall Ian saying, "once you play Madden 11, you can't go back and play 10 because it just feels totally different now with locomotion."
Really? Then this demo must be the version before they put in locomotion because I don't feel anything different regarding player control and movement. I felt 10X more of a difference from 09 to 10 with regards to this.
In terms of animations, didn't see anything much new at all. I mean it's 95% identical to 10, and that's being generous.
The kicking meter is completely stupid. Did they just change things for the sake of change?
I loved the Madden 10 demo and the game and thought it was a big upgrade from 09.
Considering they've done nothing to franchise and the main "improvements" are either steps backwards or total useless fluff, I'm not wasting $60 on this years version.

Really surprised by how little they did.
I agree.
I'm always able to enjoy Madden by playing offline co-op (which reduces the reliance on dodgy AI), but I'm surprised at how little they've done to improve the core fundamentals of the game.
Obviously I'm only speculating, but it seems as though the development team have been incredibly lazy over the last year.
I am so dissapointed. I have read how everyone thinks gameplay will probably be fixed with custom sliders but I know for a fact they will not.
Every year I spend more time messing with sliders than actually playing the game. I bought last years Madden because I had to have my fix, but this year I am not buying this one. And this is why:
No matter what kind of slider adjustments I made, you still do not have a pass rush from your LBS in the 3-4 defense. If you adjust the sliders for pass rushing on for the computer, it still affects the human team. Its ok if you do not believe me but its true.
Custom sliders have not worked on Madden for as long as I can remember, especially not on the next gen consoles.
I am wondering what camera angles this game is going to have as options, if they have a sideline option I might buy this game. But so far EA has proven once again that they are no longer concerned with consumer satisfaction.
Already there are talks about patching things like the strategy pad. The kicking game is just horrendous. Playaction still does not work unless the computer is the one running playaction. You can't take control of your offensive line either. At least you can do that on NCAA and give your offensive linemen some pancakes. Yes I said pancakes, this still determines if you offensive linemen progress or not. You can't even take control of your WRs or TEs and run your own routes if im not mistaken, unless someone else knows how to do this I can not figure it out.
Just like in real life, Madden Football seems to be dying. The NFL is probably going to go into a lockout and even Football in video games is suffering too. A very sad year for football fans if they are really die hard fans this year. EA Sports has killed football for us gamers and the NFL has done the same for us Fans.
So before you buy this game this year, it would not be a bad idea to rent it or wait 2-3 weeks to see what everyone has to say about the real game. I know this is a Demo, but I am sure glad there are Demos for games.
HAHAH! I just lost a game to the Colts with :23 left in the game. An 83 yard pass in which the pass rush was absolutely none existent. I picked Nickle/Over storm Brave and not one defender got to the qb. Manning had over 8 seconds to look for a wr and he finds Dallas Clark over the middle and runs it in after running over my lb and free safety. What bs! EA you guys totally suck! lol

I think how the OS community recieve a game is a good indication of sales. I mean OS is made up of people who like video games so I don't see why people who like video games but aren't on OS would be so different. Just a little less serious about it.
Oh I am rooting for bad sales this year. No chip on my shoulder but if sales go up I would worry that they would have no incentive to upgrade franchise mode for M12. Sales going down shows EA franchise mode is important to alot of people. And I strongly disagree about more sales = more investment. Bad sales are more likely to lead to more investment to change that. We will have to wait and see. Hope you enjoy the game.
I finally downloaded this last night. I'm enjoying NCAA 11 so much, and after reading a lot of impressions here, I decided to just wait. Well, I understand now what people meant about hating the strategy pad. I don't like it either.
After playing this demo, I think I will pass on Madden this year. NCAA will keep me playing football all year.
Thanks for posting that Gun. I haven't been able to look around much the last few days, but that definitely eases my worries as this was the only aspect of the demo that really bugged me.
Good news!
I still have a bad feeling it is still going be silent in the retail version if you turn off the Coordinator voice.
