Madden NFL 11 News Post

The popular FBG Ratings website of the mid 2000's is up and running again under new management. Over 17000 NFL players are being evaluated and re-rated for the 2010 NFL season. The FBG ratings system will utilize old philosophies for bringing accuracy to Madden NFL game-play while incorporating the NextGen attributes into player ratings.

Because of the many critiques of EA and their ratings over the years, the managers are hearing recommendations for player ratings. This will give the most loyal Madden gaming community at OS the opportunity to give their input into player ratings. Please visit www.fbgratings.com/members to check the site out.

You can PM Dan B. on OS under his handle DCEBB2001.

No rush at all, in fact as you probably know and EA needs to know is never rush anything, but make sure you take awhile and make sure it's perfect!

Almost forgot...agility is based primarily on the 3-cone drill but game footage and ELU ratings will be taken into consideration for this rating.

^^ About the strength I think it doesn't matter. IMO Thats The way the game works, it doesn't matter. Just because player A is entitled to a 90 strength rating, doesn't mean he is some newfound herculean on the field. A Safety applies his strength rating differently to the game as opposed to a lineman.

What would a high strength rating do for a safety in madden? It'd probably make the safety a lot more hard-nosed, physical, tougher more felt tackles, just an all-around strong safety. Shed wide reciever blocks, and press or jostle with recievers a lot more physical. So what's the problem here?

A O-lineman on the other hand, strength applies to him in a much different way. He affects the game by, holding off a linemans jump, Holding ground in blocks, the ability to drive a player, The effectiveness of each block made. Can he match the D-lines strength?

Just because you line up behind center or any other position doesnt mean your vastly weaker than the fat boys who put up numbers or the backer beasts. Ben Roethlisberger and Tim Tebow are strong men, period. As strong as some linebackers and D-line? No, but not far far off from most/some

I might just be confused I haven't followed this thread post for post but...

I was more just trying to show an example that positions shouldn't be taken into account. If player A is as strong as player B, they should have similar strength ratings, regardless of how it is used. If we want to say that an OL uses his strength differently than a safety, that's what we have Hit Power, Run Block/Pass Block Strength, etc for...I'm just saying it's not my idea of fidelity to reality if we are saying "This player we'll give an 89 rating...he's not as good as this guy with an 82, but we'll give him an 89 because he's at this position rather than that one."

I completely understand where you're coming from, but I'm just saying that AT LEAST for core attributes (speed, strength, agility, awareness, jumping, acceleration, injury and toughness), we should rate them all as if they are just players, not positionally. Just because I'm a safety doesn't mean my 90 rating is any slower than a 90 speed WR...two different positions, same rating..should be the same speed...

See what I mean? Those ratings, in my opinion, do not give themselves to different positional weights, if you will...

Considering how long it takes, this is a realistic timetable. Then for opening day 2011, all of the players (17000 + 2400 rookies) will have all OVRs and attributes ready to go full time.
Excuse me for being stupid but does this mean that the rosters will be fully done for this season or the season after that?

Yeah your right, I get where you are coming from now. I also agree now that it makes sense.

Fully complete with all OVRs and attributes for 20000 players for next year (Madden 12 or NFL 2011 season).

So this site is more for Offline Franchise players, right? This site doesn't keep track of the weekly ratings released by EA during the season.

It keeps track of weekly ratings based on the FBG system, but is more for offline franchise, yes.

Just wanted to point out, there are ratings attributes I saw lower than 12 in Madden 11.

It's the same way in Madden 10. On the spreadsheets from last season they show some ratings lower than 12. However, when you go into the player editor in the game it will only allow you to go as far down as 12.

Can anyone else verify this please?

Thank you for your comments...I am glad someone gets it!

i get it too...but as a beloved bills fan..how can i possibly run a franchise with those ratings...eric wood a 47?

side note....i've noticed when u play teams in play now mode they have TEAM OVR in the 60s/70s but when u launch a franchise all the TEAM OVR get bunched closer together...why is this?

Eric Wood is rated a 47 because he broke his leg in 2 places on NOV 22nd. Injuries will knock a player down significantly.

I am pretty sure that the play now, is what the teams "should" be rated in real life, while the franchise is the actual average of the players ratings.

Impact blocking is the blockers ability to make a leveling impact block on an opposing defender.

Wow!

I love rating players in NCAA football....in fact I've been rating players in NCAA football for the past 4 years.

If this site does happen let me know because I think I can help you out big time with the ratings as you'll see from all of my NCAA Roster work. I've always wanted to find a site that dedicates itself to player ratings in NCAA football.

I think we would need more help with the roster creation aspect for both the Madden and NCAA games. Well, Madden isn't too bad, but NCAA would be a HUGE project to create all the ratings as required in the game. We would need to figure out all the player calculations too. It's not even a sure bet we will launch one because of the shear size of the project. That type of database would be much larger than the one we have for Madden currently, and that has over 17000 players in it.
