Czar I appreciate your protection of the "user controlled' functionality, but this game looks whack, at least in this video. If an EA employee made the decision to release this video, they made a very bad move.

I'll take canned movements over the jerky movements for now.

You can tell this is a user submitted video

JkA3, it seemed that EA screwed up releasing that replay video for NCAA 11 in march or april..looked like crap...

Now it's the best (or most anticipated) football game for EA since the ps2 days...it's way too much stock put in videos for games that aren't out for months.

I first watched this vid on my phone where the quality is usually on the poor side, so I couldn't tell for sure if it was user submitted.

I can't even argue with your reply because you are absolutely correct. Back when the first NCAA 11 vids hit the net, I was disgusted. But the Demo has me salivating!

Thanks for opening my eyes.

In all honestly I felt like a negative Nancy when I wrote that. But I watched the tutorial the other day, and it was slick...but I had questions on how it would actually play out. Seeing this video scared me. Again, thanks for the wake up. I can admit I was a bit overboard.

Have a good week.

The sliding really looks like a big flaw in the game. Hop EA can fix that before the release. They also say the game is based on the skill of the players playing the game, so the game should be better with people that are actually good at the game. The game is still also an unfinished product so the game should be a lot better in october.

Are you shocked? I'm not. It doesnt matter if this is an early build or not. This is EA people!

Elite. Don't make me laugh.

It's just ignorant to bash EA because you saw issues in a video of somebody who didn't know how to play the game. Take advantage. Your comments aren't being screened by a messenger, you get to talk directly with two developers who work on the core of the AI and the animations.

rEAnimator, it looked to me like the clipping in the video had to do with the "acquire ball system", since it was a loose ball and both players went after it simultaneously.

I like that the defender held his ground during a gather, but now it's completely the opposite as to what it was at the community event. Instead of the ball handler just pushing the defender, now the defender doesn't move and the ball handler gets pushed. Momentum needs to be taken into account for who gets pushed and how far, imo.

I tried to take another look at the video, but youtube states that it is private now.

Yeah, when I watched the video I was focusing on the section where they went through each other (and the guy posted the screen grab of it).

You're definitely right about it being the acquire ball system, or at least how it interacts with the physics system.

Someone else asked how something like this could happen. I'll answer it here since I can't find the comment anymore.

I mentioned in the physics thread how we are using different physics shapes on different body parts and in different situations in the game.

When those shapes change, we need the physics to transition smoothly into the new state, however it looks like there is a bug in that system from looking at the video. My assumption is there's a bug that breaks the continuity of this transition and causes the players to shoot through each other.

I haven't had a chance to investigate further (been working on other things) but will definitely have a chance in the next two weeks.

And to your last point, I agree and we're working on it. Keep in mind the physics is influenced by where the players are pressing on the sticks. So it's very difficult to properly diagnose videos like this that don't have all the info I need.

But what I can do is try and repro what we see in this video in ANT here at work, and address the issue that way.

Hopefully that gives you some insight into the kinds of problems that are left to fix, and reassures you that we're aware of the problems and are working on them.
