"In a closed-door session, we got our first look at NBA2K11 earlier today at E3. Walking Chase Becotte and myself through the very brief demo was NBA2K11 producer, Eric Boenisch. The major announcement is the removal of Isomotion controls. Although a staple in the series and a well-received feature, the NBA2K11 team felt Isomotion was too limited. However, there’s no word just yet on what new dribbling scheme will take its place in NBA2K11."
Hopefully they get rid of the shot stick, it seemed so unnecessary. I always just used the face button to shoot anyways.
That's not going to happen. They're not dumb enough to ditch the best innovation they ever made, and especially not in the same year that their competition has finally waved the white flag and admitted that the Shot Stick is The Truth.
NBA 2K7 had the best movement and responsiveness but I have to agree no momentum and weight. So take a second and look at the game that is Uncharted. The controls in this game are so responsive but still realistic. That to me would be the perfect balance.
edit: worst part in 2k10 is the shooting though. aweful just aweful feel to it.
I really only started playing NBA 2K last year with the advent of My Player mode in NBA 2K10. I picked up isomotion pretty darn fast and LOVED it. Kind of scared to see it die what seems a premature death.
They better not have made it exactly like 2k7's system.
2k7's response was wonderful... but not exactly realistic. There needs to be some happy medium.
All those longing for control like that... it was cool back in the day. Hopefully both games are moving towards punishing the user for throwing the sticks around like a monkey with actual consequence...
Until we see that, these games will never emulate what they are trying to achieve properly.
Well, I agreed there is some unrealistic factors in 2k7 such as no momentum and weight involved in the speed of the players. And direction can be shift at any moment of time regardless of speed. BUT...that is WHAT makes the game FUN!! You have TOTAL CONTROL of the player and total responsiveness and do what you want the players to do.
Ok, i am not saying iam all in favor of what 2k7 offer. That is NOT the problem....the problem I have is that once they put momentum and weight into the game, the control responsiveness is lagging and you don't feel you're in control of the players like you did in 2k7. They NEED TO make it as responsive as 2k7 with the added momentum and weight...that is the magic ingredient....and that is the problem I have with 2k8-2k10.

Balance is key rep..Too much control and no momentum is what made some of those older 2k's an arcade fest..
Thanks I didn't even see that post by Ronnie.....That makes me feel a little better. From one of the interviews at E3 the guy made it like they were making more like their pitching system for Baseball game. Where each dribble move would have a chain of commands before the move executed.
The court size is pretty ok. I wouldn't know how to handle that situation.
you gotta link for that interview bro? I heard someone else on 2k forums talkin about that. Thanks

disagree with that times 1000000.The shot stick is the life of 2k's gameplay. As you can do floaters ,leaners, switch hands in air,and if you makin contact goin to the lane, depending on what way you move the right stick, you can pull off all kinds of drifters ,layups, fades etc.Im still seein new moves 9 months into the game with different players all thanks to the shot stick. I would be crushed if they dropped the shot stick and i think a few others would be as well. Dont think this would happen

Because of short sighted posts like this, I sincerely hope both games get rid of button shooting by default.
And I think my wish will be granted. Time to catch up to the rest of the industry.
I didn't like that post either, but since there are probably a lot of people who still use the button, I don't think they're gonna remove it. I'd say, enjoy either of them, but don't tell others what is necessary or not.
Man this crazy this aint 2k7 this 2k11. Who cares if 2k uses the same config live uses hands and feet should b seperrate, 6 297?, 7 2-) _49++ 285 5#3 +-'3 +58_! 7 '9:3 285 5#-5

i think this will be a good change. iso-motion, IMO, wasn't the best - yet it was still good. whatever they have up their sleeve i'm sure will be superior.
I actually use the button only for jumpshots. Post-moves/leaners/drifters/runners/dunks/layups I use the shot stick. Fadeaways I am 50-50 depending on the situation and where I am on the court. Sometimes the shot stick doesn't respond to a fadeaway(does a regular jumpshot) so I have to use the button.
I also use the button when the AI CPU jumps on my pumpfake and I want to lean in to draw the foul as the shot stick isn't always responsive.
Same...I could never adapt to using shot stick for shooting. For layups, dunks and runners its shot stick. I wonder if 2k ever thought of having a shot stick only controller config...Freeing up the X button for something else?
I agree partially with pared...I think button shooting should be taken out.......of the default control scheme..but they should def make it available in alternate schemes tho, that's the best way to go...
Its best bcuz that button can and should be used for something else but instead its been a double...pretty much the same concept as when they took movement off the dpad and made it only on the analog..eventually ppl will get used to it,and realize ultimately that its better off that way...these days we don't even think about using the dpad for movement, pretty much every game in every genre has done it...and it will be the same with this button shooting, mark my words, ppl will be saying y didn't we think of this yrs ago, just like dpad to analog
