This game has a lot going for it graphically, but because of the camera it's very difficult to see how good the Euphoria engine works in a football game.

This first person never works in sports games especially football games because "feel" and peripheral vision are extremely important. Without that the camera is useless IMO.

I give them credit though, they went out and tried something completely fresh. A couple of additions and the game could be enjoyable.
This is the same way I feel. The gameplay is good, but the camera kills it for me as well.

I understand both sides on this one...Obviously you have to control the entire defense/offense, you have to throw and catch and run, so limiting the view is slightly confusing, especially in 2010. The term "God-Cam" is funny to me since you are "God". You control 11 players at any given time on your fingertips, so why not be able to see the rush and the coverage? I mean, a video game is about control right?

With that said, it works great as a QB/HB. The view is limited on the field and it gives a different experience. It adds intensity, and challenge. I could lean either way, but i prefer to have options...which also varies my approach to the game.

I've seen a few pretty sweet moments so far.

-Opposing team was punting with a 25 MPH wind in the punters face. The punt made it about 20 yards downfield, hit the ground and bounced high in the air. One of the opposing gunners leapt in the air for the ball as about 8 guys converged on it. I bumped into him and sent him spinning like a helicopter. Someone else caught it and a big pile-up ensued.

-CPU QB passed over the middle. My safety and CB both closed on the ball at the same time in front of the receiver. The safety got there first, caught the ball, bowled over his teammate (the CB) and ran it in for 6.

-I blitzed around the edge as the OLB and tried to dive and sack the QB. I completely whiffed and knocked the isht out of one of my own guys on the other side of him lol.

WEATHER EFFECTS !!!!! how many years has it been since weve seen legitimate weather affect a game?? YES!!!

Won my first game, er, half 3-0. I just jumped straight into Pro Medium after the training drills and some tackle alley. I was the Indianapolis Spartans against the Columbia Colonels, so that's probably how I won on my first go around. Offense will take some practice, which I like, as I managed a whopping -2 total yards on my first drive. CPU's first drive I received a gift as I forced the CPU to cough it up and recovered. My 2nd drive lasted 1 play as I threw a pic throwing deep into the safety. After the CPU converted on 4th and 1 on their 2nd drive, I forced another fumble, this time, the ball shot into the air and into the hands of a linebacker after the HB got flipped. My final drive I got off a quick pass and romped 19 yards to get into position for the half-winning field goal on the 21. Final play, with 3 seconds left, I booted the half-winning FG to go up 3-0. I'm one of the many few who actually enjoy the camera, as it makes me feel really immersed into the game and player. Overall, I really enjoyed it, exceeded my expectations, and had converted me into a definate day 1 buyer.

You really want to see Euphoria in action? Start hurdling at random moments (R stick up). You'll get thrown all over the field.

haha I've done that. There's some pretty wicked stuff that happens. One time my player got flipped end over end only to get smashed in the ribs by some DB that came flying across.
It was awesome.

I look at it like the Power Swing in MLB The Show.....you have to know what you are doing or nothing good happens.....where as Contact hitting in MLB The Show is like Focus mode on Defense.

stay away from Aggressive mode, unless you have a clear shot at someone.....until you get the hang of playing different positions on Defense......and I generally stay using one position, instead of switching during a play.

also use your team to their strength and not their weakness... I like using Chicago..but I know that in a 2min demo, its hard to really use them properly and I'm forced to pass more...which isn't how you want to use them...

if most of you want to pass around, use Indy....and mix up your plays....the CPU is pretty smart.....

I know it is hard with this view and you don't know who will be double covered or what....but what you can do is

pay attention to the Safeties.....pre-snap and post snap.....remember your original play and where your secondary WR will be....as well as Rb/Fb going to the flats....

try not to take sacks, and get rid of the ball in 2-3 seconds, each time.
I agree, aggressive mode is bit too risky on defense. Great assessment and advice for everyone.

all people will do with those few more cameras is find away to cheese.

I agree strongly, might be the closest to what I have been thinking in words.

While it puts you "in the game", football players need split second physical attributes to survive "in the game", and I don't feel like I always have that available to me.

I was going to buy but now I am on the fence. I think it looks to be a great game and brilliant engine, but I just don't think I have the mentality it requires to succeed in this game.

I just had my best passing game ever as Wagner of the Spartans: 7-8 for 203 yards and three touchdowns.

I tried to move around in the pocket a little more and it helped me avoid the rush.

Someone mentioned earlier about not finding any bugs...I did find one. I completed a 20-yard pass downfield, roughing the passer on the play. I accepted the penalty but instead of adding the penalty yardage to the end of the play, it gave me 15 yards from the LOS. Hopefully that will be fixed in the final version or in a patch? Otherwise, as many have said, really fun demo - too many INTs that's for sure. Maybe that can be helped with ratings? I'm still not sure I'll buy it Day 1 but I'm impressed with the game from what I've seen. Definitely a nice change from Madden.

On games now-a days, this is pretty much inevitable no matter what you do.

One word "UNBELIEVABLE". I never knew I wanted videogame football to play like this. This game in my opinion is what stick skills and awareness is all about. You have to truly read the defense, anticipate the offense, and just go for broke.

I read through the impressions of players I share similar football interests with and just like many of them I am in pigskin heaven.

It is kind of sad, but subliminally (sp), most of the peeps are complaining its not like the other game they complain about daily. It's people can no longer handle change or a learning curve. I hope by June 1st you all see the light. This game is fantastic for a first time sim football game.

Exactly.

Also, unless you watch the replays every time you miss 90% of what the Euphoria engine is capable of. As I said in another thread, I'm pretty bummed because other than the camera view this game is awsome. However, the camera view is something I don't think I can get beyond.

I'm in the same boat. I really am not feeling the new camera. And that sucks because this game has so much going for it, that it's a shame for the camera to be such that it ruins the gameplay for me.

I quite like this game. Hopefully the AI offense is better. I like the camera angle. Its different and challenging.

Just a few comments on BB...

1. Remember when consoles created analog sticks for the very first time? Remember how you hated having to use the analog sticks after being trained for years on the D-Pad? You were able to change and now analog sticks on the controllers are 2nd nature to all of us. BB will become 2nd nature if you allow it to.

2. You have the option even in the Demo to use the conventional button configuration for passing, running & defense instead of only the analog sticks. Just change your controller to alternate setting and you will have the traditional button configurations.

3. If you hold down LT while on defense you will zoom out with a better view than without LT.
