EA Sports have posted another NCAA Football 11 blog. This one showcases the pregame entrances.
Quote:
"Pageantry and Tradition; two words commonly used to describe what separates college football as one of the greatest experiences in sports today. Contrary to popular belief, not all of the action takes place on the field... and one of the hallmarks of collegiate football is how you get there. From Howard's Rock at Clemson, to the "Play like a Champion Today" sign at Notre Dame, to the roar of the crowd as our favorite team takes the field, we've recreated some of your favorite traditions before kickoff and brought them to you like never before.
As I wrote in my last blog, we really wanted to strengthen our authenticity and presentation in NCAA 11. And to do that, we knew pregame entrances were a major component of building a great foundation. We've created run outs for some of the most popular schools based on who you pledged your loyalty to in last year's title, including Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, Nebraska, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and more."
I dont understand how you dont see this as being picky. You're so hung up on them carrying a flag when they aren't running out of an inflatable helmet or tunnel.
You're sitting here complaining about an american flag while 80 other teams prob will have just generic entrances and other teams like Virginia Tech has 0 chance for a 100% authentic entrance since they use licensed music in their intro.
It's authentic enough. When you buy an Authentic jersey from the NFL shop it's not 100% authentic because the guys that actually play on sunday have their jerseys made to fit how they like, some have tight sleeves, some have loose, some have no sleeves, some have skin tight jerseys, some don't, etc. But people aren't calling the NFL shop and saying this authentic jersey i bought isn't 100% authentic because so and so wears tight sleeves and the jersey i bought of him has loose sleeves.
Good points I agree 98%. Miami in fact does run through the inflatable helmet its in their blog. Also people forget EA owns/makes Rockband. Rockband features.... YES you guessed it. Enter SandMan. So licensing is no problem.
yes but thats a different game. They have to pay Metallica to use their song for that game. They dont own the rights to the song. So if they were to put it into NCAA football they would need to pay additional money to Metallica for use in another game.
Def not a Lawyer so I cant argue that. Just doesn't seem cool.
How many times do we have to repeat its not just about the flag... Its that they are saying they have authentic entrances when in the blog we saw a problem with half of them. If they are going to include authentic entrances, then I want them right. The way I see you guys arguing, I guess you don't want EA to make them more realistic?
I don't want them to change just Miami's entrance. I want them to fix Iowa's, Tennessee's, etc. We're not wanting them to just change the flag because that wouldn't make it authentic.
When I turn on NCAA 11 and play a home game with Miami, I want to see the same entrance I saw at their home games last year. When I go to Tennessee, I want to see the same entrance I would have seen last year. When I go to Iowa, I want to see them holding hands and walking onto the field, not running like in the video. I want authentic entrances that reflect what we really see. We're getting the same treatment with these authentic entrances that we're getting with the authentic ESPN presentation. Its a step in the right direction, but its not really what it should be.
This thread has really taken a turn for the worse.
Can we just all agree that people get enjoyment out of different things in the game and are therefore more inclined to expect/care about more accuracy in certain areas? For some people, it's uniforms, for others it's equipment, for others it's presentation, etc. Canes [and others] happens to want his team to have a 100% accurate representation of their entrance in the game. It seems a little hypocritical to criticize his desire for that accuracy and then turn around and complain about any other aspect of the game.
I would hope that others wouldn't chastise you for wanting EA to get the part of the game that you care about more than others right, and I wouldn't want any of you to criticize others just because they see something as more important than you. We all like different things about the game, and it's fine. Frankly, I wouldn't have it any other way.
That said, I am not expecting EA to have many of the entrances this year dead on as they're only going to get a fraction of all of the entrances in the game. However, that does not excuse them from making mistakes. If you're going to take the time to do a specific team's entrance, why not spend the extra time or little bit of extra effort to nail it? It can be done, and in this case it's something as simple as the flag he's carrying. Maybe this was a choice EA made intentionally for whatever reason or maybe they know something we don't about what Miami plans to do for their entrance in the upcoming season, but if not then there is really no excuse for not having it exactly right other than simply ignoring the details, which there really is no excuse for.
Thank you for understanding it Lava. I just want EA to get their entrances correct. They have Miami's right for the most part with the smoke and helmet. But the team comes out behind Sebastian who comes out behind the cheerleaders with the flags. Sebastian didn't carry the flag last year and I don't think he did the year before either. Yet, in EA's entrance there are no cheerleaders leading it apparently and Sebastian is carrying a flag thats not even used in our entrance.
Also, I am not just for them to just fix Miami's. I am just using Miami's entrance as an example because its what I know best. I've already made some mistakes with Texas' entrance because I don't know too much about it. So, its best for me to just use Miami and Iowa as examples because I know their entrances are wrong for certain.
Canes I understand that different people like different things, I cant tell you what you should and shouldn't bring to others attention. At the same time you should know it is still being picky as 77+ teams are with out an unique entrance of their own. I believe some of those teams in the vid were generic. I also believe EA did not put in every single detail to save space or time. ex Notre Dame may touch the "play like a champion sign" but enter the field the same as 60 other teams. Wisc and Penn st also look as though theirs might be similar.
Oh yea you never answered my question: Since you are good with percentages what is 2(UM & Iowa) out of 120 = ? then subtract 70% from that because they got that much right for UM?!?! You stated dreads were less than 20%.
I understand that a lot of teams are without entrances, but if they are going to ad entrances to a select few teams over every team, then get them accurate. If they were adding in 120 entrances this year, I would be happy with Miami's current entrance. But when they are adding around 30 entrances, then I think that Miami and others entrances should be a lot more accurate than they are.
Also, I can't really answer your question because I don't understand it completely. And 2 of 120 is around .017%. But why do I want to subtract 70% from that? 70% of what?

What are you trying to get at with your question?
You said dreads were on less than 20% of players and it is picky to argue for them. I don't see how you cant see arguing for .017% is not being picky. Lol I've ask for dreads, backflaps, shoes, colored visor tabs haha. In the end I know I'm being picky. I watched the video again and all I can think about is
I'm not arguing for just Iowa and Miami though. I am arguing for every entrance to be as correct as possible. I don't know how I can make that any clearer. I've said it well over 10 times this thread.

Which makes no sense because you have no proof that they are wrong!! in the final game.

I have more proof they are wrong than you have they are right. From the video and pictures, Miami and Iowa are wrong. What do you have that they are correct? Nothing...

The absence of evidence is not the evidence of absence
How are people arguing over entrances they haven't even seen yet? The Miami thing is getting annoying. The flag is wrong? Really? So if the whole entrance was accurate and Sebastian still came out with the American flag would you still be pissed? Proboably yes. Just be happy The Canes are 1 of the 30 schools getting some love this year. I mean just be thankful we're getting some upgraded presentation this year. I know everybody was pumped when they read the blog and saw the video. So let's just enjoy what we have. People are always crying about what's wrong and never giving praise for ehat's right. I mean come on it's a video game!!!!! If you need authentincitythat bad just do what I do. Go to an actual game !!!!! Or at least watch it on television for those who can't go.....
Where are you getting I am not happy? Does posting, "I am glad there in..." 10 times = not being happy? I am very happy this is in, but I want them to be authentic.
From you guys arguing, I get that you all are happy and don't want the entrances to improve at all. Thats just stupid if you ask me.
People get upset that the authentic ESPN presentation isn't authentic because they use unrealistic replay angles and people praise them for saying that. But I get bashed repeatedly for pointing out EA's mistakes in the authentic team entrances? Is that right?
You people need to get it through your head that I am glad to finally see these, but when they are going to call them authentic, I expect them to be authentic. Like I said before, when they are only going to do 1/4 of the teams in the game, i expect them to be very close to the real thing, yet we have Iowa running and not walking and we have Sebastian running with a flag which doesn't happen and we have him running with a flag we don't even use in our real entrance.
I use those two teams because i know their entrances well and I know from the blog they are wrong. If I knew about all the other teams' entrances from the video and saw they were wrong, I would be using them as examples too.

I think EA says "authentic" because "close to the real the real thing" doesn't sound as good.I mean technically Sebastian leads Miami out right ? And Notre Dame,Tennessee, and Clemson do touch something before taking the field right? I'm just saying let's notread too much into "authentic". ESPN Presentation will be there trust me. NCAA Basketball did a great job and I think NCAA Football will be twice as good. Let's just give the game a chance first. I hear the arguments and I feel you guys. I'm just saying let's not forget why we buy games. They make us happy. Even if Iowa's entrance is wrong ,will the game not be fun? Be easy people.
