EA Sports have posted another NCAA Football 11 blog. This one showcases the pregame entrances.
Quote:
"Pageantry and Tradition; two words commonly used to describe what separates college football as one of the greatest experiences in sports today. Contrary to popular belief, not all of the action takes place on the field... and one of the hallmarks of collegiate football is how you get there. From Howard's Rock at Clemson, to the "Play like a Champion Today" sign at Notre Dame, to the roar of the crowd as our favorite team takes the field, we've recreated some of your favorite traditions before kickoff and brought them to you like never before.
As I wrote in my last blog, we really wanted to strengthen our authenticity and presentation in NCAA 11. And to do that, we knew pregame entrances were a major component of building a great foundation. We've created run outs for some of the most popular schools based on who you pledged your loyalty to in last year's title, including Clemson, Notre Dame, Miami, Nebraska, Florida, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia Tech, Florida State, and more."
goddamn, now we're gonna complain about the flag? Seriously,it's never good enough for some of you.
We didnt throw the word "Authentic" out there. They did. Its great that entrances are in but get them right if you going to do them. I feel like this has been the theme of the ncaa dev team. Just enough to say they tried. IMO. Ask the Iowa fans. Just gotta keep the hope alive. Its not just the flag.

A couple of years ago, sebastian did have a flag with him.Maybe they are goin the "patriotic" route.either way im jus happy they FINALLY put in entrances.I hated picking my teams and goin to a fly over shot of my stadium.
Easy, the same reason the sidelines look like they do, graphics. They don't want them to take a hit so they left those things out. Same reason you probably won't see the whole team run out onto the field. And if they do have the whole team somehow then that explains it even more why they wouldn't have the bands and whatnot.
I'm a UT fan, so I was hoping to see the running through the T. But the sign is cool too, anything is better than nothing. However, I'm no game designer, but it seems to me that they could pull it off. Maybe have the camera behind just a few players at the front of the group as they emerge onto the field, and before it becomes too taxing on the XBOX or PS3, cut to an overhead view where the graphics of each sprite can be reduced, thereby showing the T and a full team running out. Maybe cut back close into 2 or 3 players at most running through a handful of band members, then some fireworks or something. Then it's over.
Honestly, a much bigger gripe to me is EA HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO NOTICE THAT TENNESSEE'S ORANGE IS WRONG. I FEEL LIKE I'M TAKING CRAZY PILLS!

Seeing that they don't appear to have any sort of alley consisting of bands, fans etc. leading the team from the tunnel to the sideline I'm thinking they may not have the T. Sucks because that would be pretty cool to see!
Glad someone pointed out how ridiculous some of the nitpicking gets. How could you EA?!? You have him holding a flag when he didnt do that last year (but has in past years)! I mean give me a break.
Well, when they say authentic entrances, I thought they would do what we've done the past few years, not what we did 5 years ago. Also, to nitpick about your team, the Play Like a Champion Today picture had what looks like another sign above it that I don't remember ND having....
What's with all the butt-hurt? If people want to complain, let them complain. It has no bearing on you or your life. If it somehow does affect your life, then you have far greater problems.
Whatever happened to the days where you played games because they were you know fun? Now it's all "such and such's teeth aren't the right color,I ain't buying " And on top of that, why nitpick about something that, after you've seen it a couple of times, you're gonna be pressing the A button to skip it.
It went out the window when they asked us what we wanted. And again its not about the flag. Dont make me have to put it it bold .
When you buy the game year after year, you start to feel a little disappointed when things are left unaddressed, especially when it doesn't seem like it would be too hard a fix.
Stuff like wind socks and crap, whatever. But to a Tennessee fan, the orange is as major as it gets. It's all about the orange. And the first time you flip on the game, you're going to play with your favorite team. BOOM the game starts, and the Vols are in some salmon color, almost red. And it's been wrong for 3 or 4 years. How hard is it to fix that? Who at EA is looking at the game then at a photograph of UT and saying "that is right on the money" lol
Sorry for some extra ranting, but I just felt like it.
and yet i can care less because they got the main point of the entrance, i'm not going to nitpick that an extra sign is in the picture because the main focus of the entrance is the touching of the PLAY LIKE A CHAMPION TODAY sign so they pretty much got that down. I dont let things like that bother me because they are so minor its not worth wasting energy on.
Thats how I feel about equipment, but I respect the people who demand accurate equipment. I could care less if RB Joe Brown has a DT's facemask. All i care about is gameplay and presentation. To me, these entrances are a part of presentation and are huge. When I follow the Hurricanes hardcore and watch them play every Saturday/Thursday/etc. it takes immersion out of the game when they get their "authentic" entrance wrong. What if you're favorite team had the starting QB hold up a banner before every game, but in this game the player was randomly chosen off the defensive line?

Thats probably the only way they could have done it. I'm guessing they were more so trying to get the feeling of intensity of the players close up though. But I definently understand wanting to see the T. And EA doesn't listen to Tennessee about the orange just like they don't listen about anything related to Iowa haha. One day though...
I never said it pissed me off, but it as wrong. And I noticed the cheerleaders were missing with the flags. But I imagine you would have gone bananas had I brought that up. Look how you've reacted already.
First off, that's a very nice feature that they have included in the game. And I think it's cool to see they included the Iowa Hawkeyes, personally.
However, why do the teams always stand around in a dance circle with 5 or 6 guys after running out of the tunnel? Who does that? No team I ever played for or game I have watched does that? And if they do, then make it specific to that team.
Also, getting back to the Iowa Hawkeyes, they don't run out of the tunnel all jacked up and frantic. They come out at a slow jog all holding hands in perfect lines and it's a very unique and powerful entrance. Go ahead and make immature jokes about the holding hands, but it's just not right.
Again, it's a great feature...but if you're going to add something make sure it's done correctly and specifically. The only specifics I see are the signs that players touch. That's not an entrance, that's a gimmick.
I seem to be having trouble finding the final results list, but was Iowa in the top 30 of the Season Showdown rankings? I think "accurate" or as close as they decided to get, only applied to those teams. That's not to say every team in the top 30 is 100% spot on.
But I like what I saw and am hyped. What's in is enough to get me pumped up to play each game and that's what I wanted. A little atmosphere to get me excited for to play, even if it's a home game against Duke. The five guys in a circle is > than an aerial shot of the stadium and a coin flip. It's still enough to get me hyped and my imagination will fill in the blanks left by the rest of the team not jumping up and down in that camera shot.
Well I hope atleast they were smart enough to differentiate between the teams entrances in relation to where teams run out onto the fields. Some teams come out in the corners of the end zones and some have the entrance directly behind the end zone. However Michigan comes out of the tunnel on the 50 yard line.

Don't be surprised if EA doesn't get uni colors right. Hell, I've been waiting for 5 years just for Notre Dame to actually have GOLD helmets in the game, instead of the off-white or pale yellow look. From what I've seen, they still haven't gotten it right yet.
