There is of course one big drawback, they have no running game.
Yeah Cox is a 2nd tier LB for sure and adequate. I think Derrick Thomas is in his own stratosphere at ROLB, personally. I did some manual pass rushes with him and it was pretty ridiculous. I could just run around the OT and mercilessly dive at the QB. He's definitely the 93 version of the '91 LT.

I like Miami, though. Their book is solid and D is adequate. Passing speed and control are things to be actually valued in this game. You actually need to thread the needle a LOT against other people given that leading the receiver generally doesn't happen.

That's what made my loss to them all the more painful. They ran all over me. I still can't figure out how it happened. They were doing a lot of runs up the middle, and they had a lead blocker. Now, the way I usually beat that in the past, is to attack the lead blocker which in turn makes it hard for the back to get around it and get through the hole. But for some reason my timing was off and they just kept taking the hole to the strong side and taking off downfield. They barely threw the ball at all, they just kept running.

I've now lost 4 games in a row. I can't throw or run anymore. I'm 9-4 and Buffalo is closing in fast. I think it's time to change up my playbook entirely and try a new offense.

I think his last name is Arnold by default, and yes, that cat is fast, fast, and more fast. When he runs, I see trails of dust, and I hear *beep* *beep* KA-BLAM! )whistle(

That's the way the old Tecmo Super Bowl was in the season. If you wanted your rushing stats, you wanted to get the big yards in the first 4 games, because after that, it was going to be very hard to run. By game 8 I usually switched to a shotgun formation for every passing play. I tried that in my first season with the Cowboys, but Smith (HB) got hurt in game 3, and then again in game 6, after only 1 game back. What really stunk was in game 7 I lost Aikmen, so I had backups at QB, and HB.

Word of warning to guys playing the competitive season. If you exit a game, or turn off your console, you will get a loss. I left it running during a game, and then it turned off on it's own during a game. Then the next day I started a game and decided to quit to play ranked. Came back and I had 2 losses. Tough lesson to learn, but after a loss the game takes the CPU difficulty back down a notch, so I had a couple of easy games again.

I'm doing a speech for a speaking class on Tecmo today. Oh my poor audience...

Sounds like the CPU is offering up a good challenge. I'm buying the game soon.

That is awesome! In one of my speaking classes, I re-enacted a scene from 'Seinfeld.'

They lowered Elway's scrambling ability in the SNES version but still has the 2nd highest rated passing speed. But still, with no real weapons to speak of he's sort of a gunslinger without any bullets.

When I took my public speaking class, back in the 90's, I did a presentation showing the evolution of video games. I put together a vid, starting with pong, atari, nes, SNES (think that was the last). Class liked it. The teacher though it was weird. heh

Does San Diego have Natrone Means or Marion Butts?
Butts.

San Diego's D is something to fear, but what's scarier is their playbook if you plan on playing online.

Elway is alright, but that's the problem= he's not elite like he should be. He has some talent around him, but I felt like his playbook was a bit on the bad side.

I dont remember passing being so slow on SNES. I havent seen many completions of +25yds.

So QB's like Rodney Peete cant throw over anyone.

I just took a KR to the house with Rod Woodson against a Chiefs user online! It was gratifying considering people intentionally kick it short to make you return. That should be a big mistake against Lightning Rod. I finally made someone pay for it.

When I host games I don't just beat people, I bury them. Some of these guys got by when I didn't have precise movements and wasn't able to make my reads, but if the tables turn there's no chance for some of these guys. You can tell a lot of players aren't used to the passing yet. I win a lot of games simply from someone trying to throw a few bombs, failing, me punching in a short score... rinse and repeat. Competition should tighten up once people get more settled with the passing.

In terms of leading the WR, I think it has to do with when you exactly throw the ball. If I throw at certain times, I can lead guys more consistently. If I wait too long or throw too quick, he won't lead the WR.

To be honest though this game requires zero skill at all. Basically it all comes down to who is hosting versus who is not. I am undefeated when hosting games, and been beat quite a few times when I am not. The lag is terrible for those not hosting games and its apparent. When I host the games I have pretty precise control over my players , versus when I am not hosting and I cant even run a zigzag pattern.

I know exactly what you mean. I've barely beat garbage players when they are host... and I can definitely tell. It's impossible to pass.

Dan Marino is disgusting good when I am hosting.

I have to retract my statements that the NT dive wasn't a problem. I thought I was getting away from it, but only because of the lag. Played a guy the other day who had no lag apparently, and he pulled it off every time. Took away away 3/8ths of the playbook. Lost the game to him. I didn't realize until the 2nd quarter was over that he could pull it off every time, and that he was keying off the formation to know when to do it.

Watch out for 'Davidb10', he'll use the NT without remorse.

Drew Bledsoe started 12 games that year (1993), I remember it well as I was a huge Bledsoe fan. However, he didn't make it into the final rosters for Tecmo Super Bowl that year and I forgot about it... but this was already taken care of some pages back...

Anyone have any idea when the patch drops?

EDIT: Patch was cancelled. sounds like the lag is here to stay.

# 280 speedkills @ 05/06/10 08:59 PM
The patch is cancelled?? Well this game is officially dead.

I quit my first game today. The score was tied but the lag was just awful.

Oh well, only 2 months til NCAA Football 2011.
