A game doesn't have to have good graphics to be fun. I grew up on the Atari and NES. But the 2D graphics in this game are so blurry when there are a dozen guys bunched together on the line that it's hard to make out what's going on sometimes.
I grew up on Atari as well, and I definitely still have a heart for 2D gaming, but I have to admit that I prefer 3D now. Tecmo used the best of both in Tecmo Bowl Throwback. They use 3D graphics from an isometric set view. It might as well be 2D while you play the game. Looks just right to me.

If the CPU Difficulty does adjust and become progressively harder, I will certainly pick this game up, as I love Tecmo.
I just started a season with KC.

Game 1 was 63 - 3 (500 yards offense)
Game 2 was 47 - 7 (300 yards offense)
Game 3 was 27 - 7 (180 yards offense)

Definitely gets hard the longer you play. By game 3 the CPU was moving so fast it was crazy. I couldn't get more than 10 or so yard on every play.

I have a season going with Miami, their offense is scary potent with Irving Fryar, Keith Byars, and Keith Jackson.

Miami is definitely a secret weapon in this game. MIA and KC are some great unpopular teams.

Miami is actually competent on Defense too I have found. Brian Cox is only a slight decrease in ability from Derrick Thomas or Lawrence Taylor. John Offerdahl is a solid MLB and tackling machine and Louis Oliver is one of the better FS's in the game with his speed and tackling ability.

There is of course one big drawback, they have no running game.

Val, that is good to hear. Keep me posted on your progress.

Still using your Madden 10 sliders, btw

Yeah Cox is a 2nd tier LB for sure and adequate. I think Derrick Thomas is in his own stratosphere at ROLB, personally. I did some manual pass rushes with him and it was pretty ridiculous. I could just run around the OT and mercilessly dive at the QB. He's definitely the 93 version of the '91 LT.

I like Miami, though. Their book is solid and D is adequate. Passing speed and control are things to be actually valued in this game. You actually need to thread the needle a LOT against other people given that leading the receiver generally doesn't happen.

That's what made my loss to them all the more painful. They ran all over me. I still can't figure out how it happened. They were doing a lot of runs up the middle, and they had a lead blocker. Now, the way I usually beat that in the past, is to attack the lead blocker which in turn makes it hard for the back to get around it and get through the hole. But for some reason my timing was off and they just kept taking the hole to the strong side and taking off downfield. They barely threw the ball at all, they just kept running.
