I agree. Much safer to go with an established young guy than to go with any other prospect just because people are clamoring for it.

Posey easily and without a doubt has the potential to hit 20-25 plus home runs a year.

As you and others have shown, you don't have to be a fan of a certain team to mention or talk about a certain player. For anyone who thinks that they have to follow "their team", you don't. I know a ton of people who have only followed teams because they think/feel that they have to for various different reasons.

As for Austin Jackson, he definitely deserves an A potential. I don't care how high his strike out rate is. That means absolutely nothing for a player who has the skill set/ability that he does.

I was just saying...
In a roster where: Buster Posey, Jesus Montero, Wil Meyers, Carlos Santana, Derek Norris, Jason Castro, and Tyler Flowers ALL have A ratings...

Wilson Ramos has GOT to have an A rating too.

Anyway I think the issue is that the Twins have too many A rated prospects already on the roster and one needs to be sacrificed in order to give Ramos an A.

Austin Jackson also deserves an A rating but he is by no means an established player after only one month. He won't bat .360 all season long.

A player's B potential rating really isn't that horrible. There really isn't high potential players to edit like there was last year; especially position players. Most of the A editable players from the default roster and updates are pitchers.

Any ETA on V2 yet?

# 1127 Karle @ 05/08/10 02:42 AM
While I do not usually get involved in the player ratings issue, I do agree with those proposing to bump Austin Jackson to an "A". Yes, it is unlikely that he will still be batting .350 at the end of the season, but how many other "A" rating players bat .350.

The fact is that so far he is performing well and has been improving by striking out much less frequently than he did in the beginning of the season.

I think its pretty clear that asking for an eta does nothing for you. I believe knight said that his next update is gonna be sunday sometime because he is busy this weekend with work. Wait until sunday and knight will update us all. my guess is that he will be around 2/3 through the roster updates.

I also agree on bumping austin jackson up to an 'A' potential. He clearly has shown that he is gonna be running CF in detroit for a long time to come, and he is just gonna get better. He will strike out a lot less as time goes on, and his intangibles will improve too.

If I recall correctly, the last time Knight mentioned how far along he was, he said about 2/3rds. So his next update might be... around 3/4ths.

On a separate note, I noticed someone asked why SCEA players aren't having their ratings adjusted. I'm curious about this as well.

As far as stock ratings and i dont want to speak for Knight but he leaves them up to user preference. What you might think needs to be tweaked somebody else wouldnt, so its best to leave the stock alone. Plus other guys will be doing that after V2 comes out.

Good call Karle. I am from Detroit and I have had the pleasure of watching Jackson every at bat this year. As I agree with you about Jackson not maintaining the 350 BA through one month I do recall a player named Chris Shelton that after a month or so was raking the ball and he was suppose to be the next greatest thing. Then he just teetered off. While i'm not comparing Jackson to Shelton one bit. Sometimes we are what people call "Prisoners of the moment.' It's hard to bump up the players potential based on a small sample size of one month. I'm not trying to degrade anyone's opinion at all by any means. Just throwing in my two sense I guess!!

Thanks for the hard work Knight!

Chris Shelton aka Red Pop? Yes I do recall him as well, Rod Allen would have called his start to 2006 a "catalyst." I was glad to see the support on the Austin Jackson bump from a B to an A. I dont think he will hit .350 either all year, but I am drinking the Kool-Aid, and I think he will hit around .300.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but C.J Retherford of the Charlotte Knights is black in the game. Should look like this. http://blog.al.com/birmingham-news-s...Retherford.jpg

Pretty tough background, to boot:

Quote:
Johnson's online bio describes him as a Venezuelan phenom who joins the Express after having his prison sentence commuted.

"He served time for running a smuggling ring that imported rare and illegal species of reptiles into the United States from South America during the mid-to-late 1990s. Thursday night's game marks Johnson's first in American professional baseball after a storied career in the Venezuelan leagues."

Can you just send players down to the minors at the end of Spring Training (for each individual team) instead of reducing the 40 man roster to 25? Or will the lineups still get mixed up if you do that?

# 1139 ksig24 @ 05/08/10 09:30 PM
What are we thinking as far as the A potential player is concerned Knight? Lets talk.

yep that's exactly what you can do and it won't mess up the lineups....this is in fact what I do (mentioned that a little while back in this thread) and I think Knight might even do this as well...

it's really a great way to go about than reducing the 40 mans to 25 men rosters, but also takes a little bit more work......I like using it though
