NBA Live 10 News Post

The second patch for NBA Live 10 is now available for 360 and PS3 owners. Please post your impressions here.

This quote from blackflash83, NBA Live Community Manager.

Quote:
"The second title update will address a lot of the bugs that came from the first update as well as address the three point issue that has been plaguing online play. The online fatigue issue will also be fixed as well.

It will also look to address some of the freezing issues that some of you have run into as well."
EDIT: Adding what the patch addresses:

-Addressed goaltending issue to ensure that when a goaltending foul is received while blocking a dunk that the correct points are allocated.
-Addressed an issue ensuring that Ranked Online match forced to have fatigue set on.
-Fine tuned 3 point % completion rates to reduce the likelihood of successes to more realistic values
-Addressed an Injury Removal issue, where adding inured players to the starting lineup and attempting to sub them off was unsuccessful.

With the three point issue, the team worked to make the three point percentage more realistic based on tuning the shot release, defender proximity, player skill and distance from the basket. This was a key issue that the community asked be addressed and the development team took the extra time to ensure that three point shooting is more realistic.

I lost by 6 or 7 but the guy kept shooting 3's with Bibby. He was 7 for 17 just from 3 pt land. When we started and he picked Atlanta I kind of knew what was coming.

Overall it was a fun game. Just no way in hell a player should be able to do that and not tire. He would have done better but I switched to double team and tight D on Bibby and thats probably why he shot under 50% from 3. If EA can find a way to fix that I would play this game online a ton. Peace!!!
How is going 7 for 17 from downtown an indicator that the game is flawed? Seriously, that's 41%. He's a career 38% shooter from downtown. The only problem is he's taking more than he normally does but I don't see a real advantage to it. And shooting the basketball doesn't make you tired. I don't see a big red flag in your post.

I got the patch the other day for the PS3.. and although there are no massive changes the game seems to just play smoother and more intellegently.

I liked the game before, but with the OT bug gone and some other small improvements I'm perfectly happy with it.

The one thing I did notice is that the CPU doesnt rush shots as much.. and as a result I got a more realistic end score with 12 minute quarters. Its hard to put my finger on other things.. but the game just seems more solid and the AI takes far less stupid shots.

I'm really glad I switched to NBA Live this year.. I went through a week or so of thinking maybe I'd buy 2K but Live is proving too much fun for me to switch back. I can overlook its faults when the gameplay is really solid.. I'm even quite liking the Dynasty mode right now.. this is the best playing basketball game i've seen for years.

Oh and about the 3pt shooting thing.. I've honestly not found it a problem. Once in a online team up game I saw one guy playing as Nash just taking ridiculous 3s over and over.. but thats it. I've had people try it on me but once you figure them out they are very easy to defend. I dont think the percentages are broken.. you just need to get a hand in their face.

I too am puzzled by that.

It's not the game, its the players (as was previously stated). If someone does that, they'll play without me.

You can't blame EA for idiots playing Cheese Ball.

I'm trying to say the same things over and over, it's not the game itself glitched, it's the people minds, this game is near perfect for online games.

Running full speed nonstop everytime down court can possibly and should make you fatigued. I just posted my impression and agreed that I found it odd how someone could play with 1 player and be successful. I never said the game was flawed, I for the most part enjoyed my experience. My intent was not to knock the game rudyjuly2, simply posting my online exp.

I went back and re-read my post and I did mention if EA could fix this. It's nothing EA can fix it's user abuse. I guess they could make the player tire faster but either way it's not that big of a deal to me. People are gonna play how they want anyway.

As a guy that played 5-10 games a week, almost all Dynamic Season (I just go into Dynamic Season Rewind and find a matchup that looks fun), I have to say this game is great.

Teams play like themselves, the stars shine, and if you play guys (or teams) out of context, you're much less successful. To me that's a big deal. When I play the CPU, there's something very satisfying about watching Rose drive and when I collapse, he kicks out to Heinrich for a spot up three and... SPLASH!!

I enjoying it immensely. Good basketball is rewarded (both offensively and defensively), and that is the biggest compliment that I can give it.

If there WAS a secret move or play that worked every time (cheese), I simply wouldn't do it. That wouldn't be fun for me.

As it stands now, I think it's a very, very solid basketball platform that can be built upon by EA in the future. Perfect? Nah, but really good.

Well that's true. But that is a separate fatigue issue. Simply shooting a basketball adds no fatigue. I thought you were trying to say he should be tired because he took a lot of shots.

We are on the same page. This guy would take Bibby and just run him all around until he could get an open 3. It didn't take long to figure it out. I just doubled him and switched to tight "D". Again he did not shoot lights out with him, it just got boring really quick chasing him the whole game.

Hi folks, new member here. I have refrained from applying either patch so far and now that #2 is out for the PS3 it's time for me to make a decision.

I've read through a lot of this information and I still feel the need to ask the forum for an opinion: Should I go out of box or apply both patches? (I can't see only applying the first one based on what I've read.)

What say ye?

in real life shooting does tire you ... a jump shot utilizes the legs, the arms, and the core .... when you take a ton of shots, it does tire you out.... the game doesn't take this into account, though

well here are my impressions.

online fatigue is visible now, which unfortunately does not stop people from running back and fourth, and taking 40 3 point shots with one guy. i made one substitution, my C in all 3 online games i played and did not need to make any others. none of the guys i played made any.

after winning my 1st 3 games post patch and my last 5 pre patch i am on a nice 8 or so game winning streak. i was unlucky last night because all i could find were ridiculous cheezers. it seemed they were shooting more just to test the new patch. first game the guy went like 13 for 44 and i won by 12 or 14, this guy still put up 45 with JasonK tho!! the next 2 games were crazy, atlanta gave me a run and bibby scored 40 something, the guy wasnt doing anything but shooting with bibby, i wont by 1 and the next game it was mo who scored 48, i won by 2.... i did notice a few open 3's late in the game were missed by these guys and i wasnt able to tell if it was the fatigue or not. but it felt a little different as far as 3's going in and alot smother especially free throws. iwent 18 for 20 i think in one game last night and with lag and **** that never happened before.

i guess for this issue to be 100% solved we will just have to wait until they fix that magic force field between u and the guy you are guarding. so then maybe we can do something about this.

PS. shooting 40 shots even if you are not running up and down the court would tire your arms alot. by number 40 your shot would be off from what it usually is even if its just a little.

It's upsetting that they release a patch saying 3's are fixed, but they really aren't, and we haven't received any response from the devs discussing the issue. i hope someone can come in. I've tried to contact blackflash and mike wang to no avail.

I had not applied any patches to this game and decided to take the plunge. When I put my game in I was expecting to be prompted through two downloads but I only got one and it was pretty small (25MB).

I've read that the first patch was large so I'm wandering if this was some sort of "combo" patch?

# 257 DJ @ 12/17/09 10:29 PM
I'm very happy with how this game is playing now that the 2nd patch is out. I was a fan pre-patches and still enjoyed the game after the 1st patch, although the bugs from that update were starting to wear on me a little.

Now, I'm back to where I was pre-patch; the gameplay in the half-court is off the chain and now that you can actually have fast breaks and the CPU isn't so haywire in its half-court sets, this game is super fun!

I don't know what the guys at EA did, but this patch has improved the game to the point that it will be returning back to my rotation. I was just about to give up on this game and trade it in but I told myself to keep it until they patch it. Im so happy I kept it. It feels like the ebb and flow is more balanced and I dont feel cheated at all (using L4D's pre-patch sliders). Finally, the most promising thing that I saw was there were hardly any crazy fadeaways with PGs, and I even saw a shoulder fake by the CPU when I was playing!!!!

Nice patch EA, even if it only was a glitch fix one.

this shows why EA can do nothing and get rewarded for it, the customers are happy with a 25MB patch that didnt do anything.... you are on PS3 right, u know that was not the correct patch, it didnt really fix anything.

You have no idea what you're talking about.

It may have addressed other things that he was looking forward to, such as the goaltending issue.

If he's enjoying the game, that's all that matters to HIM.
