I don't want to beat a dead horse, but NFL 2k5 had sim stats for a season down great. I simmed a season and had 3-4 passers over 30 TDs per season, around 3-4 guys over 1,500 yards rushing, and the TD's rushing were almost exact. The only thing wrong was punts as there was one team over 100 in real life while half the league has over 100, but i can live with that.

Anyways has anyone tried controlling all 32 teams and changing coaching sliders?

LOTS of lineman injured - 11 out for the season - TO THE POINT THERE IS NO CENTERS IN FREE AGENCY ONE RIGHT GUARD AND THREE LEFT GUARDS
Does that sound familiar?
On defense there was 15 players out for the season but few out for short periods of time.

Honestly it seems like it needs to be give and take. I think that if people want to see less 2000 yard rushers they are going to have to tune the HB1/HB2 carry ratio. There still might be crazy YPC numbers, but the totals will still look ok I bet. Has anybody tried this? I am on 360, otherwise I would just do it myself.

FOR THOSE WHO ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT HOW THE GAME IS PLAYED AND NOT ABOUT HOW MANY RBs GET OVER 2K!

Wow I must say.. I'd much rather be able to play online BEFORE the patch came out.

#1. FLATS ARE FIXED... Only by a cover 2 CB.. If you run a Cover 3 and your LB has flat duties.. the LB wont get there fast enough for a "Cheese" Play and quickly throw to your RB.. (All this is on all-madden).

#2. Focused so much on the cover 2 flats that EVERYTHING ELSE IS BROKEN... In cover 2 the safeties back pedal 25-35 yards deep!!! FOR NO REASON. It's an easy completion to a streak on the outsides in the hole.. Now I know cover 2 has a hole in the defense just like every coverage.. BUT WOW.. the safeties back pedal so far that the hole becomes HUGE!

#3. Man align still doesn't exist. And funny, but MAN COVERAGE is absolutely HORRIBLE. The defenders get juked without the WRs even attempting a fake in there routes..

Thanks for posting the sim stats but I don't like three things:

1) Way too many guys getting even 1,500 yrds up to 2,000 yds.
2) Sack totals are too much - a player getting 20 sacks should be an absolute rarity.
3) Receiving TDs are a bit too high as well.

I'd like to see more people's impressions regarding actual gameplay (not new animations) and what the differences now are between rushing the QB, CPU runs, OL blocking, etc. but my major concern is the sim stats.

I play a lot of games and seasons in my offline franchise and the outlandish numbers would seriously dampen it...I'm on the fence whether I'll download it.

Thanks for these posts...i think everyone can see that although there is something to look at about the 2000 yard rushers...."The sky is not falling" (to quote chicken little)

And just so everyone knows, I have reports that the linebackers are hauling a** to the flats now...lol...but cover 2 is gonna take a hit...and to be honest that's kinda like real life. A good QB and WR can eat up cover 2 if they don't get pressure...

For those who are simming seasons to check for accurate stats, can you please list if you are doing a fantasy draft or not?

I ask this because I find that the talent becomes much more balanced in the league and had a slight difference on production for players pre patch and I am curious if it still has any effect.

Can somebody who has the patch maybe mess with pass/run ratio and HB1/2 ratios while controlling all 32 teams and see what that does to the stats? I think it will help. Thanks.

I am did not download the last roster update. I am using the one before it. I assume that shouldn't make any difference as they said it wouldn't effect existing franchises any differently.

I created a new franchise not an existing one. Again, I was using the roster from before today.
Thank you, Im sure the roster would only have extremely minor implications on a handful of players who are rated slightly differently from the update. Could you please do a quick fantasy draft and sim the season to see if the stats are similar? It would be greatly appreciated.

EA Sports just can't win

Is there defensive pass interference now post patch?

ha, just kidding... haven't seen that in madden in all the years I've played, why now? Even though you see it 3-4 times at least in every real NFL game.

Anyone else having problems post patch with the gameplay?

I'm no All-Star or anything but I'm usually pretty capable vs. the AI on All-Pro with no slider adjustments. Post patch I can't get anything going. There seems to be no pass protection now. Gave up eight sacks in a Dolphins (me) vs. Jets yet I got absolutely no pass rush even on blitzing plays. The only time I was able to get a pass off was when calling play-action.

While this changes gameplay I'm not sure I'm seeing it as an improvement.

Played 1 half. All pro, 15 min qtrs. Bears vs Packers (me) in snow.

The blocking did seem improved. Ryan Grant had 9 car 49 yrds, Forte had 8 car 40 yrds and as far as I could tell, no lineman spinning in circles.

Passing, I went 14-22 for 250 yrds with Rodgers. I could hit slants, drags and crossing routes anytime I wanted. The flats got covered a couple times, but I hit a couple for big gains as well. I tried a curl and got picked, anything deep was over thrown but it was in snow with 16mph wind.

On defense if I rushed 5-6 guys, I could not lay a hand on Cutler as usual. If I played zone and only rushed 2, Cutler would eventually try and take off and I got the sack.

Playcalling, I only saw the bears call 1 engage 8 type blitz and I killed it with a slant for 60 yrd td as usual.

3 penalties were called. Bears got hit false start, I got called holding and facemask.

The other thing I saw was I was manually using Clay Matthews over the middle, the cpu sent Forte there and I jumped the route easily, somehow Forte got warped in front of my for a 8 yrd reception instead of a pick or knock down which I should have had easily.


Overall, for the short time I played, some gameplay things improved slightly but it was mostly the same old madden.

Has anyone noticed zone depth? I saw one guy complain about safeties being too deep.. anyone else feel this way?

Can you run a cover 3 zone, bump and run your CB's and still not throw it over top?

Passing trajectory: Has anyone noticed passes being released less often and less passes fluttering in the air? That was supposed to be adjusted and should limit interceptions overall.

Has anyone checked to see if RB's can be covered at all by LB's in the flats in man coverage of any type?

stux, have you tried messing with:
  • Offensive Run vs. Pass Ratio
  • RB 1 vs. RB 2 carries distribution slider
  • Defensive Run vs. Pass ratio-I noticed that sack totals went down in the previous patch when I bumped this slider up. Also toning down the aggressiveness slider for defense lessened the number of sacks.
