NCAA Basketball 10 News Post

No franchise was more in need of a makeover last fall than EA's (formerly known as) March Madness series. The crescendo of the franchise's downfall came with March Madness 08, which turned out to be the equivalent of a number 16 seed after the first day of the NCAA Tournament -- routed by a vastly superior opponent and lucky to even have been invited to the big dance. Thankfully, EA listened to the criticism leveled at the March Madness series and decided to start from scratch. The result was NCAA Basketball 09.

NCAA Basketball 09 corrected many of the nagging issues from the March Madness series and implemented a core experience that could be built upon in future iterations of the series. While the game was ultimately crippled by some annoying bugs (for example, playing zone against the CPU would force an ungodly amount of turnovers) and a lackluster dynasty mode, the overall game was a very solid Freshman effort by EA. 2008 marked the year that the developers at EA once again made their college basketball offering relevant.

And now with the first week of college basketball upon us, it is only natural that EA has released NCAA Basketball 10. Touting revolutionary television presentation, an all-new motion offense mechanic and yearly team and player "dynamic" updates, NCAA Basketball 10 is ready to up the tempo and try to run all other 2009 hoops competition out of the gym.

So is the game ready to ascend to the level of a UNC, UCLA and Michigan State, or is NCAA 10's bubble going to burst well before March?

It's sad how some people who own the game can get so sensitive about a review. It's one persons opinion, enjoy the game instead of whining.

Roomate went half with me so I got it the other day. It is a very enjoyable game, I strongly suggest you play/rent before judging it off of the demo. It's getting hella time in my PS3 with 2K10's online roster being screwed.

Sounds like final version of game is much better than demo. I didn't like demo at all, but since the game is unavailable to rent in Australia all we have to go off is how good the demo is. Either that or US$60 plus international postage leap of faith. The dilemma, although safer to probably just download new CH2k8 rosters & run with those for another year.

This is a good game, period. OS's review is way off as far as a score. 2k basketball is better than EA's version, no doubt, but it still plays like a solid game of ball and you can't throw full-court passes like in NBA 2K without turning it over here. This is a more impressive game, IMO, than NCAA football or Madden. On default settings, the game plays very realistic as far as stats, score, shooting %, etc. and teams always make a run. Last night I played Madden for only the 3rd time this year and won something like 60-53 vs my little brother. For this game to get a 6, Lacrosse to get a higher rating, and shaky games like Madden getting super high scores, it doesn't make sense to me.

ill be buying this maybe during the summer after it has been out for about 8 months, when the price is down, the demo was pretty good though!

I caved and bought the game. While it has some promise, the game overall is a few weeks short of being very good . The sounds and presentation are nice (Except the repeating commentary) and it really makes you want to play the game. However that's where most of the enjoyment ends for me. It has moments of fun but everything on the court feels rushed. I don't think the game is terrible but a little more care and work would do the game wonders.
Like I said it's fun at times but it could have been so much more.

They hardly ever pass out of the post is the biggest complaint even when double teamed. They do however pass around the perimeter and pass in to the post.

If a team is running a motion set and a guard catches the ball on the block I have seen them pass out a couple times, don't think I've seen a front court player do it though.

To make it even worse there are rarely post moves either down there by the CPU, it's basically a catch n shoot or a fadeaway. Brutal.

the cpu does indeed pass out of the post. It may not be as often as people expect or it should be, but if double teamed quickly, or having a guard cheat down, the cpu will pass the ball back out of the post and re-position.

In my experience the best way to get them to pass out, is to play as the defender guarding the offensive player that dumps the ball into the post and then cheat down, while calling for a double team.

Its a shame the game doesn't have the option to double in the paint like it used to. That would make this process a whole heck of a lot easier.

now this I do disagree with. Alot of times, I'll see the cpu do a post move. They'll back me down, do up and unders, or swim and dunk. Yes, they do turnarounds or the guards alot of times will do fadeaways, but I see more post moves than jumpers.

I think I may have seen 1 or 2 post moves in the 10 or so games I've played. It's 95% or more "Catch and shoot".

As far as passes out of the post, yes if you double quick enough or cheat with guard they pass out. That's few and far between though.

I enjoy the game but like I said earlier just a little more tuning and the game could have been great. A patch would do wonders for the enjoyment factor. If we don't get a patch then I'll lose what faith EA gained over the last year with me.

After playing this game for the past week, it does indeed deserve a 6.

Yeah when I played the CPU post moves were basically non-existent. They were plentiful in 09 too, sad.

As much as I disagree with this statement, I can at least respect it. Man it sucks that people feel this way, because there is a really good game in there.

For me, I have just been able to overlook the bad, love the good...and keep it as simple as that.

I gave it a 7 for what it's worth. Anyways yes there is a really good game in there and it is fun. I just really hope they do in fact patch the issues and make it even better.

If this was a football game and on 99% of every 2TE set the CPU ran, it was a run, while the game still might be a very fun game that one glaring thing would always keep the overall experience hampered.
That's where I'm at with the game. I'll keep playing it as it does have some qualities, but deep down I know it could be much more.

Totally agree Sky......I have had to lower my block ability down very low, and raise the sink or swim effectiveness higher for the cpu to try and compensate for this. It has helped as my big man Harangody is only avg 2.3 blocks per game.

Still a glaring issue, and if they patched this and a couple of other things..this game would last until the next iteration hit.

This game is not a 6.

I have been spending a lot of time with NBA2k10 and what is interesting is that their bigs get the ball down low, and have a clear view to the rack, and pass it. Very frustrating. I think that I'd rather see the 5 ft pop 95 per cent of the time. Controls are not as consistent and smooth. I do like the way that 2k utilizes the r stick for defense. You can really play physical d and make a difference. This is my biggest complaint with EA bball games.

EA has very smooth gameplay. Controls on offense are excellent, presentation is entertaining, and the fun factor is constant.

I like this game very much but have posted my frustration with the ai post game. I certainly don't want constructive criticism to improve the game chase away people who are thinking of buying it. In my opinion, it was money well spent.

This game is a 1.0

It Freezes on me everytime I play it, Thus it is trash. I am not even exagerating either, 9 out of my last 10 games have frozen.

With these freeze issues, is it with the dynamic update?
